00:00The images are gut-wrenching and heartbreaking, dwellings wrecked, personal belongings soaked beyond recovery,
00:07and the lives of the victims shattered with no shelter or property to lean onto.
00:11With such photos and moving images etched in mind, Senators of the 20th Congress each had their takes.
00:18Senator Francis Escudero expressed heartfelt sorrow, sympathy, and prayers for the victims
00:23and cited the need to dispatch badly needed food, water, medicine, and housing materials to the victims
00:29to jumpstart their recovery.
00:32For his part, Senate President Vicente Soto III reminded how the calamity funds can immediately be availed
00:39by the local councils without presidential state of calamity declaration.
00:44Meanwhile, Senator Pia Cayetano took aim at the NGCP and quizzed them on the status of transmission lines
00:51impacted by the typhoon and a timeline on the restoration of power in the hard-hit areas.
