One in a series of fronts is rolling across the Northeast from Nov. 5-6 with potentially damaging winds.
Transcript
00:00Areas around south of Punxsutawney and other areas here into Indiana County, Pennsylvania, northeastern Indiana County, southwestern Clearfield County, a little bit of northern and northwestern Cambria County seeing some of that.
00:10And then up into northern Westmoreland County, some lightning strikes there as well to the east of Pittsburgh, so areas northeast of the PA Turnpike there near Delmont.
00:20We're finding some thunder rumbling and some lightning strikes here and there.
00:23We do have the storm reports turned on.
00:25We haven't seen a huge number of damaging tree reports or power lines coming down yet, but the numbers may increase soon.
00:34And we're going to be dealing with some more issues here.
00:36You can see that we are facing some snow, maybe a little broader than I should with the outlines here.
00:42But in the highest of elevations, there is some snow falling.
00:46But we're going to see more of those areas kind of filled in with snow as opposed to rain as temperatures drop later on tonight.
00:52And again, the front continues to make more progress eastward.
00:56And that's where we're going to see some of that colder air follow with the winds shifting.
01:01Winds are very active with this whole setup here.
01:03It's a southwest wind in advance of the front, northwest wind behind the front.
01:06And we're seeing gusts over 30 miles per hour, over 40 miles per hour for some.
01:10And the temperatures are going to be nosediving.
01:12We're at 41 in Burlington.
01:13We've dropped a little bit there, 41 up into Bangor, Maine.
01:16Other areas to the south, still 68 down in Charleston, West Virginia, and 68 in Harrisburg as well.
01:22So it's very warm southeast to the front.
01:24But the winds are active.
01:25Gusts back up to 36 miles per hour in Buffalo for now.
01:28Overnight tonight, wind and rain moving east through the region.
01:31Generally drier south of the PA Turnpike.
01:34And we'll be dealing with gusts of wind 50 to 60 miles per hour in the deeper shade of Lavender.
01:3840 to 50 miles per hour in the lighter shade there.
01:41So areas like central New York State into western Massachusetts, the Catskills, the Berkshires, eastern Long Island as well.
01:48More numerous power outages there down into the Alleghenies and other areas downwind of Lake Erie.
01:53We'll see some of those power outages become a bit more problematic.
01:57Now, as we take you farther north and west, you can see the next front moving in.
02:00This one moves in on Friday.
02:02So, Anna, the series of fronts is going to have a lasting impact, especially not necessarily this front, but after this one.
02:08It's the Sunday one where we really chill down.
02:10This front starts to pave the way for a preview at December.
02:14We barely started November, but you get a hint of what's winter going to be like.
