01:57Looking at this vehicle on intelligence.
01:59The suspects of this vehicle, they are linked to drug supply.
02:02Can I go 1-9?
02:03Go ahead.
02:04Yes, yes.
02:05I'm about two miles from north.
02:10With drug seizures on the rise, officers like PC Craig Dawes are out targeting drug runners.
02:21The drug trade is really, really significant.
02:24I think it's become a big problem.
02:27It appears now that the amount of drugs that's been seized.
02:30The ease that drugs are available.
02:33The vehicles that we're stopping that's containing drugs.
02:36It just seems that it's part and parcel of life now.
02:39And it's quite openly there.
02:41Vehicle is in the following.
02:43Everyone's on land.
02:44It's falling off.
02:45It's falling off.
02:46It's falling off.
02:47It's falling off.
02:48Message from Derbysh traffic.
02:49Oscar Tango 1-9.
02:52Officer Tango 1-1.
02:54Vehicle is in four of four.
02:57Passage junction.
02:59As we speak.
03:02Colleagues from other forces have got behind a vehicle that they believe is involved in high-end crime.
03:09The officers have got unmarked cars behind it.
03:12They don't believe that they're being compromised.
03:15They're able to follow the vehicle quite closely.
03:19From Oscar Tango 1-9, Derbyshire.
03:23You have got myself.
03:24High performance fully marked if I can assist in any way.
03:27That's brilliant.
03:28Is there any possibility to get a Stinger site around there?
03:31There's only the slip road, but it's very, very busy at this time.
03:34Subject vehicles, committed, committed.
03:37M1, no.
03:38If the Derbyshire Mobile can get a Stinger site, that would be helpful.
03:43Yeah, I can wait at exit slip, and then if it continues I can assist you.
03:48I think you've got an ALV as well behind me.
03:50Do you want to take command if your research is on to your force area?
03:58Yeah, 1-9.
03:59I'll take control if that's okay.
04:01Then I'll put it on this channel and start putting some plan together.
04:05Lost Kostango 3-1.
04:07I've just been tasked.
04:09That's all my good thing.
04:11Other units, including traffic cop Nigel Waller, are rushing to assist.
04:16Yeah, I think we've got two units now, plus their units behind, so we could put a T-pack on.
04:22If you let us know when it's committed, we'll form up and drop in behind you.
04:26If you keep running commentary.
04:28We are on our way from Wakefield down the end border.
04:33For information, securing traffic, solid, slow moving.
04:38Friday afternoon, the volume of traffic through Derbyshire is really, really heavy.
04:42It will backlog very, very quickly.
04:44And, you know, you are thinking, what's going to happen here?
04:47We've got the ability to get one of our cars out.
04:52Put a rolling block on.
04:53Yeah, 1-4, I can do that.
04:58Yeah, I'll put the safety on after the tanker.
05:05The plan initially is to surround the vehicle and box it in.
05:08But with that option, you've still got a risk,
05:11because you then bring in members of the public into play.
05:15From Oscar Tango 1-4, blocking on, M1 Northman.
05:19Oscar Tango 1-1, we are two thirds of a mile.
05:24Preemptive practice is the preferred option at this time.
05:28Should the vehicle fail to stop, then your short pursuit is authorised.
05:33The vehicle is committed, committed, M1 North, passing it, obviously.
05:39Yep, from 1-9, we are on the entry slip, waiting for you to call that you've gone past.
05:45Yes, yes, no worries.
05:47To lane 4-4.
05:49Passed on slip.
05:514-4.
05:53Subject vehicle moved into lane 3-4.
05:55Traffic is no significant speed at 2-0, 2-0 miles per hour.
05:59Yep, at your call then, and the Derby shooting is calling.
06:01Think it's appropriate to put a box on.
06:02Tango 1-1.
06:03Subject vehicle is moved to lane 1-4.
06:04It's going to be a way of our presence now, because obviously the marked unit has gone from 4-1.
06:06We need to get it on.
06:08Tango 1-1.
06:09Subject vehicle is moved to lane 1-4.
06:14It's going to be a way of our presence now, because obviously the marked unit has gone from 4-1.
06:19We need to get it on.
06:20Tango 1-1.
06:21Move up, move up, move up.
06:22Tango 1-1.
06:23Subject vehicle is moved to lane 1-4.
06:24Get up!
06:25It's moving!
06:26Get up!
06:27Get up!
06:28Get up!
06:29Get up!
06:30Get up!
06:31Get up!
06:32Get up!
06:33Get up!
06:34Get up!
06:47Get up!
06:48Get up!
06:49Get out of the car! Get out! Get out! Get on the floor!
06:54Get on the floor! Get on the floor!
06:56Get on the floor! Get on the floor!
06:58Give me your arms! Give me your arms!
07:00Cuff! Cuff! Cuff! You've got him!
07:02My God!
07:03At the moment, you're a flashman tent, supply class, a drug.
07:10Right, we're on the side.
07:12Pick up at the moment, move your legs in.
07:14Move your legs in.
07:15Make or stop, no damage.
07:16Melty tape.
07:17On your arse, and...
07:18We'll get you...
07:19Right, you alright now?
07:21Alright? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:22Yeah, okay.
07:23Good.
07:24We slow things down now.
07:25Alright?
07:26But at the moment, you're under arrest.
07:27Right?
07:28What we'll do is turn to caution.
07:29So anything you'll see is evidential.
07:31Alright?
07:32We'll get you off the board of here, and we'll get you dealt with.
07:34Hopefully, alright?
07:35I'm just a driver.
07:36Come on, let's get you up.
07:37Right.
07:38Three...
07:39Three...
07:40Two...
07:41One! Up you go!
07:42This one.
07:43Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:44Come on, pal.
07:45Yeah.
07:46Are you happy to move?
07:47Are those cops alright?
07:48Yeah.
07:49Are they alright?
07:50I've got a broken right.
07:51It's short of your head.
07:54That's his shed light.
07:55I said it's ten.
07:56It's ten.
07:58As soon as the boots opened, we realised that, you know, this is quite a significant amount of drugs in the back.
08:04We'll take this as well.
08:05We'll take this as well.
08:06Come and turn my reins off, please.
08:08And they're from one nine.
08:10I don't know obviously what's been passed.
08:11We're going to take this gentleman and his car so he can get the motorway opened again.
08:15The officers move the suspect and his car off the motorway so they can be properly searched.
08:21It's always difficult when there's heavy moving traffic and you're trying to get around the other subjects going to and from.
08:28I think he was going to think about going but luckily we all worked together, knew what we were doing and got the box on.
08:35One male detained and it looks like a large quantity of drugs.
08:41He's got a lot of questions to answer.
08:44He's a suspect but you've also got to look at the, is he a victim of cuckooing?
08:51It does happen and people do get bullied into it, you know, and they rule with fright.
08:58Cuckooing is something that we're finding where these gangs will target the vulnerable.
09:04That can be from basically befriending them to then taking over the flat or house where they will go and deal the drugs from.
09:13Or being made to transport drugs up and down the country through fear of violence.
09:19And it's becoming more and more common.
09:22So what we do now is we need to get the vehicles off the motorway.
09:26That's the main thing.
09:27You know, a motorway lane one and two at four o'clock on a Friday afternoon is not the ideal location to do any kind of business.
09:37So yeah, we'll get to the services and we'll sort it from there.
09:48We'll put them in front stack.
09:49All right.
09:50You're not too tight, please.
09:52There you go.
09:53Put my fat finger in there, so plenty of room.
09:56Nothing sharp that's going to hurt me, are you?
09:58No, sir, no.
09:59I'm just the driver.
10:00At the moment, we've got to go through a process.
10:02All right.
10:03And that process starts here.
10:04So we're going to go to Ripley Police Station where you're going to go to custody.
10:07Don't sit me in a cell for a reason.
10:08We're not.
10:09No, we'll try to.
10:10Yeah, go in there, mate.
10:11Go and sort it.
10:12All right.
10:17The driver is being taken to custody for interview.
10:21We've located a large cardboard box with 10 green packaging.
10:29I believe that packages now could be cocaine with an estimated value of each block, possibly
10:36£40,000 a block, which at this stage, we believe it's going to be £400,000.
10:42Street value, roughly, it's been estimated that it may be over £1 million worth on the street.
10:48It's estimated more than £9 billion worth of illegal drugs are sold in the UK every year.
10:55This is the largest amount that I've ever seen or had any dealings with through my time.
11:00It just shows you what is being transported up and down that motor on a daily basis,
11:04where, you know, you'd think it wasn't.
11:06You look at the car.
11:07Does it stand out?
11:08You know, no.
11:09It's just a general, bog-standard car with that in the boot, you know.
11:14Normally, these cars on a Friday have got your Aldi, Lidl and Tesco shopping in.
11:19Instead, we've now got a large quantity of drugs that's been seized.
11:22So, you know, it's a great resort.
11:27Hello.
11:28Coming up.
11:29Where's your number plate?
11:30A suspected runner on two wheels.
11:34It's a motorbike making up for me in Derby.
11:37Desperate to get away.
11:39I'm a bit suspecting into a park.
11:43Yes, yes, sir. Vehicle's failing to stop.
11:46And more drug pushers.
11:48One's alighted from the back.
11:50Making a run for it.
11:52There's another one out and running.
11:53Putting users under threat.
11:55Stop, stop, stop.
11:56I've just had a knife in my back.
12:00I've got two T-pump units.
12:02So let's have a walk around.
12:03I've got a knife in my back.
12:04Yeah.
12:05With drug offences on the rise across Derbyshire, traffic cops like Andy Swift are looking out for suspects running drugs.
12:27running drugs. Hello. Where's your number plate, my friend?
12:44It's a motorbike making up to me in Derby.
12:49We're currently 5.5 miles per hour.
12:53Permission for the suit, please.
12:59And Bolton Lane, speed is currently 5.0 and 3.0. The RA is low.
13:07We get people riding on mopeds and bikes, driving around, dealing drugs.
13:12And it is a country-wide problem.
13:15There's massive demand for controlled substances, Class A drugs, Class B, Class C.
13:22Can we get local stinger dog unit and potentially impasse, if possible?
13:29Pursuit. Vehicle is right, right, right.
13:34CR4 towards you.
13:37CR2 march in, continue at this time, please.
13:41Down the pace, West 3, into a park.
13:43Into a park.
13:45Vehicle is currently going off-road into a park, stand-by.
13:49It's safe to continue.
13:54Vehicle is into the fields.
13:59Thank you for that.
14:03Any units could start making their way down to Derby Road or Snazmoor Lane.
14:06You may come out on that way.
14:11Fellow Lansway.
14:13Go to Fellow Lansway.
14:18For information, the rider is wearing grey tracksuit bottoms.
14:23He's got a black puffer jacket on.
14:25He's a white male, I'd say, early 20s.
14:26And he's got a black helmet.
14:28Full face.
14:32Can you stand on this bit of swift, in case he decides to come back?
14:35I'm going to stay where I am, mate.
14:36Yes, that's the plan.
14:38Drugs are the sole motivator for most crime.
14:46People who are committing your burglaries, your shop thefts,
14:50theft of cars, commercial burglaries.
14:53Most of it is down to pay for drugs.
14:55And as soon as you stop one person who's at the bottom of the chain dealing drugs,
15:00someone has replaced them three hours later,
15:03just doing the same thing again.
15:05It's very difficult to catch these people because, obviously,
15:07they just go off-road.
15:09But they're always worthwhile trying to stop.
15:13There's probably a good eight hours of the shift left,
15:16so let's see what else we can turn up.
15:20Across town, traffic cop Sergeant Scott Riley
15:23is also on the lookout for drug runners.
15:26I think drugs are a big issue everywhere, really.
15:31I can't really say whether it's any worse here
15:34than it is in other places,
15:35because, obviously, I've only worked in Derbyshire,
15:37but it's certainly a problem that's not gone away
15:40for my 22 years of service.
15:43Five minutes later, he spots another suspicious vehicle.
15:48Are they receiving us from Tango CFO?
15:51Yeah.
15:52F15 vehicle, please.
15:53Check, please, at column number 2459.
15:58I suspect this will just be a bit of a boy race.
16:08Yeah, there's something up with this.
16:09It's just, uh, vehicle's failing to stop.
16:19Advanced driver, pursuit, TPAC.
16:23They already got a load at this time.
16:27Weather conditions are wet.
16:29Speed is six, zero.
16:31Zero.
16:32Right, right, right.
16:37While Scott pursues the suspect,
16:39Andy and PC Dan Mitchell race to provide backup.
16:41Yeah, it's a good response.
16:42Possible steamer on.
16:43Thank you, sir.
16:44Thank you, sir.
16:45Thank you, sir.
16:46Thank you, sir.
16:47Thank you, sir.
16:48Thank you, sir.
16:49Thank you, sir.
16:50Thanks, sir.
16:51Thank you, sir.
16:55Okay, sir.
16:56Thank you, sir.
16:57Thanks, sir.
16:58There is, all low.
16:59On the brakes on the post of the junction and it is a left left left
17:06Speed is 7-0
17:09And I have a pass and they're asking you let's please on approach to that junction where we best going
17:20We're gonna go back to the main road
17:22Yeah, we're still within the estate
17:31Yes, yes, one's alighted from the back
17:42So another one out and running another one out to run in
17:47Believe now, they'll just be one driver in the vehicle
17:49So stop, stop, stop
17:54Pull the unit to do it please
17:58Where are you?
18:06I've just had an ice in my back
18:09I've just had an ice in my back
18:10It's telling me to go
18:11I've just had an ice in my back
18:12I'm not, I'm not, I'm not giving you no trouble
18:13I'm not giving you no trouble though
18:14That's why I stopped for you as soon as you got out
18:1610-15 person check please, 2-4-5-9
18:17I'm not giving you no trouble though
18:18That's why I stopped for you as soon as you got out
18:1910-15 person check please, 2-4-5-9
18:23I'm not giving you no trouble though
18:24I'm not giving you no trouble though
18:25I'm not giving you no trouble though
18:26I'm not giving you no trouble though
18:29That's why I stopped for you as soon as you got out
18:3110-15 person check please, 2-4-5-9
18:34Ask Charlie-1-5
18:38Quite a bit of a rest history
18:40Controlled, say, heroin, crack cocaine
18:44Yeah, lovely
18:45I would suggest that's what his friends were doing
18:47Have you been drinking tonight?
18:49No
18:50Smell alcohol in your breath
18:51Can you?
18:52Yeah
18:53I'm not winning
19:10Told me to get in my way
19:12But you seen me let them out surely
19:17Good job
19:19Keep going, keep going, keep going.
19:22Hang up.
19:24Otherwise we're doing 16 statements.
19:27The driver's under the ego limit.
19:30Right, of course you've passed the airside breath test,
19:32but because of the manner of you driving,
19:34I suspect that you're under the influence of something.
19:36I can also smell cannabis.
19:37So my colleague's going to do a drugs test on you, all right?
19:40Sorry, there's a large machete in the office here.
19:42Oh.
19:43Oh, that'll be what I had in my back.
19:46OK, so you're saying you're under duress to drive like that, do you?
19:48You told me if I didn't get him far enough away from you to jump,
19:53he was going to stab me.
19:55That's why as soon as they got out of the car, I stopped.
19:59So what were they doing in your car then?
20:00How did they get in your car?
20:02I was just about to score off them.
20:05What I suspect that they're doing with him is he's a drug user.
20:10They will be using him to drive them around Derby
20:14because he's insured, he's got a licence.
20:17They will be doing their deals.
20:19They will be delivering their drugs to anybody in Derby.
20:24It's like a bit of an Uber for the drug dealer, really.
20:28And they will just slide in his drugs free of charge for his night's work.
20:33And they will just slide in the back of the door.
20:34And they will just slide in the back of the door.
20:36And the bong.
20:38While Dan waits for the results of the drugs wipe, Scott deals with the driver.
20:43At this moment of time, I'm arresting you on suspicion of dangerous driving,
20:48failing to stop from the police, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis.
20:53and you'll go to dog custody and then you'll be interviewed
20:57and everything that he's saying about being under duress,
21:00you can tell us on interview, alright.
21:02As you can see, cannabis and cocaine,
21:04there's a red line on the control line
21:06and then there's a red line on both the test lines,
21:09so he's positive for both.
21:11So we'll go and gather blood tests now back at custody.
21:18Drug driving's a big problem,
21:20but we've now got kits where we can test
21:23whether a driver's showing positive for cannabis or cocaine
21:27and the hit rate on it is startling, really.
21:31I'm further arresting you for driving
21:34whilst under the influence of a controlled substance.
21:37A search of the car raises suspicions further.
21:41Hey, there's the back...
21:43No, I think back down if you want.
21:45Oh, we've got another one.
21:47Oh.
21:49Well, these combat knives, don't they?
22:00There's two knives.
22:01That was on the floor on the rear side and near,
22:04so passenger side.
22:06It's probably about, I don't know,
22:08the blade's probably about, what, 15 inches long, maybe?
22:10And then there's another one, another combat knife,
22:12and that's probably about, what, 12 inches, probably.
22:14So I'm sure if they were to be used on you, you won't come out very well.
22:19So I think they call them some potentially zombie knives,
22:23I'm not really sure, definitely combat knives.
22:25It's horrendous to think that they're on the street.
22:28They've got no need to have those, only one reason,
22:31that's obviously to hurt someone or to intimidate someone.
22:34That's all it's there for.
22:35I don't say this often, but I believe him.
22:39One's ran out, then another one's ran out, then he's stopped,
22:43and there is a big knife in the car.
22:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:47And he's around you, isn't he?
22:48They'll be cuckooing, won't they?
22:50Yeah, they'll be just running him about to deal the drugs,
22:53hence why there's a deal of cannabis on the back and a bit of money.
22:56And he's stopped.
22:57And a big knife.
22:58And then he's stopped when they've run off.
23:01He's clearly a drug user.
23:04Possession of those knives and the failed stock,
23:07I would suggest that's going nowhere because they're not his knives,
23:10I wouldn't suggest.
23:11I would believe that they're the lads that were in the back.
23:14And if they're saying that we're going to kill you if you don't do this,
23:17then who wouldn't?
23:19The people at the top of the drugs trade are just exploiting people
23:23from the low-level dealers to your drug users.
23:27The people at the top are the ones that need to be targeted.
23:30And I know they do get targeted, but more often than not,
23:32it's the people at the bottom that fall.
23:35The cannabis is there, a very small amount.
23:38Not a huge deal whatsoever.
23:40So I imagine that whatever drugs they did have on them,
23:44they probably ran off with the other two that were in the car.
23:48And obviously they'll find some other poor victim to drive them round
23:51and deal the drugs as the circle unfortunately continues.
23:58I've got it. I've got the vehicle.
24:00Coming up...
24:01What's crack?
24:03You've been detained on the Section 23 of the Mr. Drugs Act.
24:07Derbyshire's rogue crime team hunt down a suspected dealer.
24:12Police! Police!
24:13Scotty, do you want this phone?
24:15Drug dealers really don't want us to have access to their phones.
24:21It says bright daylight, so we haven't even got the cover of darkness to assist us at the moment.
24:40Millions of pounds worth of drugs are trafficked around Derbyshire every year.
24:44There's nothing there, is there?
24:47To give us any kind of cover.
24:49It's not down there either.
24:51PC Nick Lovett and the rogue crime team are tasked with cracking down on dealers.
24:57Our main work on the unit is drug related.
25:02These individuals are dealing controlled drugs within Derbyshire.
25:08We will actively hunt these people down.
25:12Assistence and patience is key in our role.
25:16We're getting a tasking and we won't stop until that tasking is complete.
25:23Even though we are in plain clothes, in plain cars,
25:28there's persons on the unit that have worked this area.
25:31There's a beat area before coming onto the unit, so we're all quite well known for some reason.
25:37Nick and the team are responding to intelligence about a local suspected dealer.
25:44We get information linking this individual to the supply of controlled drugs,
25:49believed to be Class A drugs, within the area of Ripley and surrounding areas.
25:53The main aim of the game today is to go out, locate him, stop him, search him, and see what we find on him.
26:03Yeah, I think it's four, we'll find a plot location.
26:05Is that a plot location near Vexpress?
26:07Yeah.
26:09Sergeant Luke Christian and PC Dave Bull are also on the lookout.
26:14The individual is linked to certain properties in the Ripley area.
26:18We know he has access to certain vehicles.
26:21Those are the main source of our attention.
26:27The vehicle we're looking out for, one of them is a Nissan Qashqai,
26:33and the other is a Ford Transit Connect.
26:36We'll just try and get as close to him as we can in plain clothes and plain cars,
26:42and jump on him before he can run.
26:45The challenges that we'll face where we want to be looking is staying undiscovered really by the locals.
26:57We have to look at an area and we have to judge how long we can reasonably stay in the area for.
27:01Hey, mate, it's Nick. I'm literally on plot. Where do you want me to cover, mate?
27:10Just park up, out of the way of each other, from where I'm going. Do you want to follow us?
27:14It will do, mate. Will do.
27:20But after four hours, there's no sign of the suspect.
27:24He lives to fight another day, doesn't he?
27:27But he will come at some point.
27:30We have to get lucky once.
27:32He has to be lucky every day. He goes out with a load of drugs, so...
27:36We have to go again another day.
27:39We've got four unmarked cars out.
27:42Yeah, it's just a case of flooding the area with police cars and trying to find him.
27:49And that's just how our work is. We don't give up.
27:52There's no sightings of the van or the Qashqai.
28:01I'm standing it down.
28:04Day one, nothing. Day two, still nothing. Day three, again, drawn a blank.
28:11He lives to fight another day.
28:16We will go again, again and again, until we've stopped the person who we need to stop.
28:22The plan is, on a rainy Wednesday, we're back out looking for the same lad that we've been looking for the last couple of deployments in Ripley.
28:38We're back out with four unmarked cars to try and locate him, see if we can get him stopped.
28:44And here we are on day four, going again.
28:48You have to be a little bit patient, not force it.
28:52You can get a little bit downhearted, day after day after day, that you don't get a result.
28:56But when you do get a result, it makes it all better.
29:00Scottie, I missed a little bit of that. What have you got, mate?
29:05We've got it. I've got the vehicle.
29:08One of my colleagues has seen the subject vehicle turning into the car park and into a parking bay.
29:17How's it going?
29:18I'm good.
29:19How's it going?
29:20I'm good.
29:21How's it going?
29:22All right, mate.
29:23How's it going?
29:24All right, mate.
29:25Okay, mate.
29:26What's correct?
29:27At this moment in time, you'll be detained under Section 23 of the Missions Drugs Act for the Piers for the Search,
29:36information linking you and the vehicle to the Supplier Controlled Drugs.
29:40Yeah.
29:41Okay.
29:42Obviously, the objective of the search is to find out if you're in possession of any controlled drugs or not.
29:57Okay?
29:58I've literally just been in Boatsal.
29:59You've just been in Boatsal?
30:00Where is it?
30:01In the middle here.
30:02In the middle?
30:03Yeah.
30:04Where?
30:05In that egg thingy.
30:06That egg thing?
30:07Yeah.
30:08Right, I'm going to hand you over.
30:10Yeah, I've got all of them.
30:12Where is it?
30:13In the middle, in the egg.
30:15Little kinder egg.
30:16In the egg.
30:17What is it?
30:18The cane.
30:19It's not uncommon to offer an amount up, so we're always cautious as to whether they've offered that up,
30:27knowing there is another further amount, and they hope that we will just take what they've offered up and leave and not search properly.
30:33Well, that certainly isn't the case with us.
30:35How much is it, mate?
30:36Six, I've just bought.
30:37Okay.
30:38Okay.
30:39And I'll be honest with you, mate.
30:40You're going to get locked up.
30:41I know, yeah, I agree.
30:42I'm going to search the house.
30:43Yeah, yeah, yeah.
30:44You sure?
30:45Yeah, nothing, no.
30:46Your phone?
30:47Yeah.
30:48Okay.
30:49What's the pin number to it?
30:50Not telling us.
30:51Not telling us.
30:52Okay.
30:53Fine.
30:54Just to let you know, okay, at this moment in time you're under arrest on suspicion of possession of intense supply of class A controlled drugs.
31:01Okay.
31:02Okay.
31:03You'll see a while, mate.
31:04Okay.
31:05Yeah.
31:06Okay.
31:07Okay.
31:08Okay.
31:09Okay.
31:10Okay.
31:11Okay.
31:12A kinder egg, which contains a quantity of little small dealer bags of white powder, which he's saying is cocaine.
31:23So he's off to custody.
31:24And now we're going to go and do a search at his home address.
31:28A little bit of time is of the essence, really, because he's quite well known.
31:31So we need to get to address quite quickly.
31:33We're in, no issues.
31:57A bit of a result that we didn't have to put the door in.
32:00We see a female and two children in there.
32:04So we have to be mindful, obviously, of not scaring the kids and things.
32:08And yeah, we've got a job to do, but obviously we don't want to scare the kids, do we?
32:13So we'll go and start searching.
32:15Yeah.
32:16Get it done as quick as we can.
32:18We are looking for anything drug related, anything to prove the individuals linked to the supply of controlled drugs.
32:26Scott, did you want this phone?
32:28We locate a mobile phone.
32:30Mobile phones can be key to us within the investigation.
32:33And a lot of drug dealers and drug users really don't want us to have access to their phones.
32:39Are we all done in there?
32:41Yeah.
32:42We've just got to do the cash car.
32:53Very clean, very tidy.
32:59Go on, Ed.
33:00Go on, Ed.
33:01Do you want us to go in before you get there?
33:07We're going to a linked address that we've also got a warrant for.
33:10So we're just going onto that address quite quickly, really.
33:13Probably not as fruitful as we'd hoped, but there's certainly items of interest in there.
33:26I found a phone.
33:28Hopefully that's linked to him.
33:30What number?
33:31Is this it?
33:32Yeah.
33:33Police!
33:34Police!
33:35We're there to prove or disprove the information that we're getting.
33:37That these individuals are actively dealing controlled drugs from properties on the streets within Derbyshire.
33:49Nothing further is found at the second address.
33:50Nick and the team return to base to check in the evidence.
33:52We've found a quantity of drugs, mobile phones.
33:53When it's all pieced together, I believe that it will prove his involvement.
33:54We're there to prove or disprove the information that we're getting.
33:55That these individuals are actively dealing controlled drugs from properties on the streets within Derbyshire.
34:04Nothing further is found at the second address.
34:07Nick and the team return to base to check in the evidence.
34:10We've found a quantity of drugs, mobile phones.
34:15When it's all pieced together, I believe that it will prove his involvement in supply or drugs.
34:23Persistence does pay off.
34:24Keep going and going and going and that's down to the team's work ethic and drive to be taking these individuals off the street.
34:34He's then failed to stop for us and thrown out them five bags of white powder.
34:38Coming up, a suspect tries to ditch the evidence.
34:42We suspect it to be Class A, possibly crack cocaine.
34:45True test, you mean?
34:46Yeah.
34:47Yeah.
34:48So on the test line, you can already see there's a line coming up.
34:50No, no, you can do it.
34:51No, no, no, never do it.
34:53No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
34:54Yeah, no worries.
34:55I'm a quarter of a mile from junction 26.
34:57I'll not be long.
34:58Near Derby, PC Andy Swift is responding to a call for backup.
35:02Near Derby, PC Andy Swift is responding to a call for backup.
35:18There's been a report earlier on of a vehicle that's made off from some Amber Valley Divisional officers
35:23where they've stopped it and then when they've got out, it's drove off and it's thrown a load of packets of white powder.
35:29And so I'd imagine it's probably drugs related. It wouldn't take a genius to work that out.
35:33I think by pure chance they've located it again and it's actually been located, I think, parked up.
35:40Good skills, everyone.
35:55Hey up, mate. You all right?
35:56We just come across as it's quite good news, isn't it, mate?
36:00I've not liked it.
36:00No one?
36:01Yeah.
36:01Is it you that failed to stop earlier on?
36:03Yeah.
36:04We'll have the car by. I think it'll need a proper search.
36:08Do you want to shift this if we've got key? We'll go up to screw fix.
36:13With the car on a busy road, officers decide to relocate to a car park to search it properly.
36:19Want me to drive that?
36:20Yeah, if you want, then we'll all go up in convoy. How's that?
36:22We've got keys for this.
36:23Mate, it's here on dashboard, I think. Yeah, we'll follow you up.
36:29So we're just going to go and drop the car off for a better location.
36:33If the car's believed to be involved in drug dealing, obviously we've got the power to search it.
36:37And we're going to search every inch of that car to try and find the evidence that we need
36:40to potentially end up prosecuting someone.
36:44We don't want to let anything get past us.
36:45So we were driving along, the vehicle's gone past us at the junction, high rate of speed.
36:52So we've gone behind it with the intention of stopping it and wondering why it was going
36:56so quick.
36:57He's then failed to stop for us and thrown out them five bags of white powder from the
37:01driver's window.
37:02We've then managed to locate this vehicle in the next town over and secure the driver.
37:09And he's currently arrested and pending interview.
37:12We suspect it to be class A, possibly crack cocaine.
37:14No further drugs are found.
37:20Has he got any insurance at all?
37:23No.
37:24But now they need to check whether the suspect is driving legally.
37:28Have you got proof of it with you?
37:30What is proof?
37:31Well, insurance.
37:31Yeah.
37:32Yeah, you just give me this one and I tell you in my view.
37:34No, no.
37:35Have you got a policy document?
37:36Have you got access to a policy document?
37:37Yeah, if you let me to find it.
37:39No, not at the moment, but I'm saying you have got it.
37:41Yeah, yeah, yeah.
37:41And have you got a licence?
37:42I have Albany luncheon.
37:43Have you got it with you?
37:44No, it's not just me.
37:45That's bad news then.
37:46So how do we prove you've got a licence?
37:49I'm going to require you to find me a specimen of saliva, OK?
37:51Because I've got reasonable suspicion that you might be under the influence of drugs.
37:55So I perform a roadside drugs test, OK?
37:58Drug test, you mean?
37:59Yeah.
38:00Yeah.
38:00Dick the tongue out, like that.
38:02And I'm going to scrape this on the tongue, OK?
38:04OK.
38:05You can do what you want, bro.
38:07This test for cannabis and cocaine.
38:09Oh, OK.
38:10He's been subjected to a roadside drug test.
38:15I think people don't realise how long it stays in your system, and I think it's so much more
38:22prevalent nowadays.
38:23I think a lot of people who would not drink drive don't realise that they are drug driving.
38:29OK, so it'll take about 10 minutes to work, and we'll see what the results are, OK?
38:43Yeah, do you want to come sit in their car for us?
38:45My car?
38:46No, their car.
38:46No, my car.
38:47We're coming to the police station.
38:49Police station?
38:49Yeah.
38:50Why?
38:51You're under arrest.
38:52Arrest?
38:53Come on.
38:53Why arrest?
38:54Yes, do you want to put cuffs to the rear, though, just?
38:57Yeah.
38:58I've got the cuffs on straight away, seems to be.
39:00Why?
39:00Yeah, jump in, then.
39:02Yeah, jump in.
39:03Hold the seat, man, for me.
39:05Don't you know why I'm using the arrest?
39:07Tell me you're getting a cuss today, but it's been explained to you.
39:13I've seized both his mobile phones and drugs.
39:17I think that goes without saying.
39:18It's starting to show up a line.
39:24Already?
39:26As you can see.
39:27That's, yeah.
39:28So if you want to favor him, because it's positive.
39:31So it's 1854.
39:32I'll be further under arrest on suspicion of drug driving, OK?
39:34No drug driving, bro.
39:35What are you saying?
39:36You don't have to say anything, but it may harm the defence when questioned something based on court.
39:39You won't say anything.
39:40So on the test line, you can already see there's a line.
39:42No, no, you can do it again, but maybe it's wrong.
39:45No, never do it.
39:47So what happens, you'll go to your police station, and they'll do a further test, an evidential test, to determine.
39:54You can do every test, bro.
39:55That one maybe is wrong.
39:56So they'll do that at custody.
39:57This is just a preliminary test at the roadside, and they'll do an evidential one at the police station, OK?
40:07He's failed a drug swipe.
40:09He's got no license.
40:09It's suspected of not having any insurance, and he's failed to stop.
40:12Coupled with the fact that, obviously, there's been drugs thrown from the vehicle.
40:14So he's the type of person that is going to basically cause carnage on the road.
40:20With more than 200,000 drug offences recorded across England and Wales every year, the police are clamping down.
40:35The use of characterised drug supply is massive, and it is a countrywide problem.
40:44It's very easy money.
40:45You can see why people who haven't got much in life, like a lot of these unfortunate people haven't, do what they do.
40:55Ideally, we'd like to take that out of the top, people.
40:57But to get near anywhere like that is, it's proving difficult.
41:03So you tend to target the kind of medium criminals involved in it.
41:07Maybe the ones that are being used as mules to move the drugs around the country.
41:11They've been fighting the war on drugs for many, many decades before I was born, and they'll still keep fighting it.
41:22It's all well and good, the police, doing our bit, but you're scratching the surface.
41:27And as soon as you stop one person who's at the bottom of the chain dealing drugs,
41:32someone has replaced them three hours later, just doing the same thing again.
41:36For every car that we stop, there's probably ten that manages to get through the net
41:42and goes on to deliver and makes a lot of money out of it.
41:46But if we just rolled over and gave up and said, well, we're fighting a losing battle,
41:50then what's the point? So we'll always try our best.
41:53And even if we take one car out, at least it's one car that's not then going on to sell drugs
41:59or ruin somebody else's life through crime.
42:02In this episode...
42:04The driver caught transporting a million pounds worth of drugs.
42:16I'm just a driver.
42:18Was remanded in custody.
42:21This is the largest amount that I've ever seen or had any dealings with.
42:26At court, he received a 30-month prison sentence for drug dealing.
42:30Hello?
42:35Where's your number plate, my friend?
42:38The rider on the electric bike...
42:41The vehicle's into the fields.
42:44...was never traced.
42:47So stop, stop, stop.
42:50Got the unit to me, please.
42:51The suspect, who claimed he was being exploited by armed drug dealers...
42:57I've just had the knife in my back.
43:00...was arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of cannabis.
43:07Oh, we've got another one.
43:10...but released without charge.
43:11That'll be what I had in my back.
43:13...and no action was taken for drug driving.
43:16...crushed.
43:17You being detained?
43:19The man the road crime team arrested was found guilty of drugs possession and cannabis supply.
43:25Where is it?
43:26In the middle, in the egg.
43:28In the middle, kinder egg.
43:30He received a 12-month suspended sentence and 200 hours unpaid work.
43:36And the driver, who allegedly failed to stop for police and threw drugs out of the car...
43:41...to this test for cannabis and cocaine, starting to show up a line.
43:45Already?
43:46No, no, you can do it again, but maybe it's wrong.
43:49No, me, no, never do it.
43:51...remains under investigation, while police await the results of further drugs tests.
43:56Right.
43:56Right.
43:56Right.
44:03Right.
44:03Right.
44:04Right.
44:05Right.
44:05Left them then have to win and win.
44:07Right.
44:08Right.
44:09On noir.
44:09Oh, no, no.
44:12Oh, no.
44:18Oh, no.
44:21Oh, no.
44:22Oh, oh, no.
44:23No.
44:23Oh, no.
44:24Oh, no.
44:25You
