00:00Schumer considers filing a complaint after Trump's 60 Minutes interview.
00:04Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sparked controversy Sunday night
00:08after suggesting he might file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission
00:12over the editing of President Donald Trump's recent 60 Minutes interview with Nora O'Donnell.
00:18According to The Daily Wire, Schumer posted on X, formerly Twitter,
00:22that the interview had been unfairly edited,
00:24referencing Trump's own 2024 FCC complaint regarding CBS's interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
00:32Trump's team had argued at the time that the Harris segment was deceptively edited
00:36to improve her image ahead of the election.
00:39Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House
00:42for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview, Schumer wrote.
00:46It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris.
00:50In a statement, they argued that the Harris interview had been manipulated to protect her politically,
01:01whereas Trump's segment was edited only for time
01:04and accompanied by the full transcript and unedited video.
01:08They deceptively edited Kamala's answers to make her look somewhat coherent ahead of an election,
01:12the statement read.
01:13That's not the same as editing for time constraints.
01:16FCC Chairman Brendan Carr mocked Schumer's remarks,
01:20noting that any such complaint couldn't be processed because of the ongoing government shutdown,
01:25which Republicans have dubbed the Schumer shutdown.
01:28Due to the Schumer shutdown, even your frivolous filing could not be processed, Carr posted.
01:34You should open the government instead of posting nonsense.
01:38Other GOP lawmakers echoed the criticism, urging Schumer to focus on reopening the government.
01:43As of press time, no formal FCC complaint had been filed,
01:48leaving it unclear whether Schumer's post was serious or simply a political jab.
