00:00He was taught cynicism and he lived as a dog.

00:03He was the topmost philosopher of that time.

00:07There was this student of Socrates,

00:12a big name in himself,

00:16Antisthenes, the father of cynicism.

00:22Diogenes goes to Antisthenes and says,

00:27you know, I have come to you, please take me as your student.

00:33Probably Antisthenes asks him,

00:36so what are your qualifications?

00:38What honours have you come with?

00:41And Diogenes proudly tells him,

00:43you know, I have just been expelled from that city.

00:47So Antisthenes says, please wait.

00:50I am accepting you and there is a certain ritual for that.

00:54And starts beating Diogenes.

00:57He says, you get out or you will get more of it.

01:02He says, I am going nowhere.

01:04You will have to accept me as a student.

01:07You can keep beating me, I won't go away.

01:10And he was taught.

01:12And what a worthy disciple he proved to be.

01:17He lived what he was taught.

01:22He was taught cynicism and he lived as a dog.

01:26And he said, all that I can do is spit at this society.

01:30There is nothing else that I have for you.

01:33Just disregard.
