00:19The Bear and the Cat
00:30Many, many years ago, in a land far, far away, there lived a bear.
00:46And one day, the bear met a cat and said, let us work together, cat, and build a house.
00:57So the two of them worked together, and they built a house in the forest.
01:08When the autumn came, the leaves began to fall, and the bear said, the winter will soon be
01:14here, let us work together, cat, and collect some food.
01:21So the two of them bought a bucket, went deep into the forest, and filled the bucket with
01:27wild honey.
01:28Then they got a second bucket, and filled it with fat, and carried the buckets up to the
01:34attic.
01:35The winter that came was a very bleak one indeed, with plenty of wind, lots of snow,
01:43and very cold days.
01:46So the bear lay down to go to sleep, while the cat watched over the fire, and sat comfy
01:52in the warmth.
01:53But then the cat slowly became hungry, and wondered how it could get out of the house,
01:57so it could climb up into the attic to eat from the buckets of honey and fat.
02:03Where are you going, cat?
02:05You will never believe me, but a mouse just came past, and invited me to a baptism.
02:13The mouse has just had a baby, and says it wants me to be the baby's godfather.
02:19Very well, then you had better go, said the bear.
02:25So then the cat sneaked up to the attic, and ate a quarter of the honey, and a quarter of
02:30the fat, and sneaked back down again.
02:35Oh, you're home from the baptism.
02:42What's the little one's name?
02:45A quarter.
02:47How about that, I've never heard of a name like that.
02:58Time went by, and the cat got hungry again.
03:03Hey, cat, where are you going?
03:08Well, you will never believe me, but another little mouse came by and invited me to another
03:13baptism.
03:14Very well, then you had better go.
03:28You're home again soon.
03:30That's right, said the cat.
03:32And what's the little one's name?
03:34A hearth.
03:37After a few days, the cat got hungry again, and quietly opened the door.
03:44Where are you going, cat?
03:45You will never believe me, but I've been invited to another baptism.
03:49Another baby mouse was born, and I'm to be its godfather.
03:53Very well, then you had better go.
04:04So what's the little one's name?
04:06Nothing.
04:07Oh, my.
04:09That's the strangest name of all.
04:15When the spring came at last, the bear woke from its winter sleep, thin and hungry,
04:21as it had not eaten since the autumn.
04:25But everything is fine because we have plenty of honey and fat in the attic.
04:29Cat, please fetch some and we'll make delicious pancakes with honey.
04:35Go up to the attic, cat, and fetch the two buckets down.
04:39Oh, but I'm so dizzy.
04:41So very, very dizzy.
04:44And we all know that cats don't get dizzy, don't we?
04:47But the cat was pretending.
04:49Very well.
04:50I'll go and get it myself, said the bear.
04:53So the bear went up to the attic and found both buckets empty.
04:56I'm going to teach that bad cat a lesson.
05:03Cat, you ate everything up and that is why you said a quarter, a half and nothing.
05:11The cat denied the whole thing and said to the bear, let's make a test.
05:16We'll both lie in the sun for a while and whoever ate the honey and the fat will sweat it out and then we'll know.
05:24So they lay down in the sun and the cat ran up to the attic and scraped what was left of the fat and the honey from the buckets and smeared it on the bear's fur.
05:38Then the bear woke up and looked at its sticky fur and said,
05:56Oh dear, I must have eaten it all.
05:59But when did I do it?
06:02When the cat saw the bear it couldn't stop laughing and it laughed and it laughed and it laughed and it ran off into the forest and the poor foolish bear lived unhappily ever after.
06:32And, JeazΓ played an meadmeter and the cat went out and stood no more.
06:41I don't know.
06:55I don't know.
