Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva says he is ready to personally call U.S. President Donald Trump again if trade and diplomatic negotiations between the two nations fail to progress after COP30, the UN climate summit hosted in Brazil this month.

Lula confirmed that Brazil’s vice president and finance minister are prepared to travel to Washington to continue talks, urging the U.S. to lift sanctions on Brazilian Supreme Court justices and remove tariffs imposed earlier this year.

Lula also said Trump “doesn’t believe in a green economy,” but added that he believes Trump — and all world leaders — will eventually realize the urgency of environmental change.

01:40We are the two largest democracies in the Western world, and therefore, the more respect we
01:48show each other, the more cordiality we convey to the world, the better it will be for the
01:52United States and the better for Brazil.
01:57To continue growing.
01:59So, after that, China has advanced a lot.
02:13President Trump told me that I don't believe in a green economy.
02:17He will believe it because at some point he will realize.
02:24That we don't have many alternatives, you know?
