00:00It really is good.
00:01It really is good.
00:02It clears you right out, you know?
00:03It does.
00:04Pipes need clean.
00:06Yeah, your pipes need to be cleaned.
00:08I hope you had your blood pressure pills for the end of that one yesterday.
00:12The heart pills.
00:12Yeah, you saved them.
00:14Well, Steph Diggs, I think afterwards, said it was a win that felt like a loss.
00:19I don't want to ever say that, but they're hungry for more.
00:23They want to continue to execute for four quarters, put it all together.
00:28They're glimpses of three and out, good punt return, offense scoring, you know, doing those things.
00:36And then there's glimpses of, ugh, what's that?
00:39So I think they want to get back to the, you know, where we're all in tune with each other, playing together, feeding off each other.
00:50And that's some of the mistakes that showed up yesterday.
00:53Drake May's awareness after the game, especially talking about the fumble, where he said, I maybe need to stop trying to break tackles against guys that I can't do so.
01:04Is that something that just will come with age, or is that something that he should know already?
01:08No, I mean, I think that that's, again, I've never carried the football in the middle of the field.
01:13I mean, other than a few interceptions that didn't go very far, returns.
01:18And I think that that's just a feel.
01:19He's practiced ball security.
01:21He is athletic.
01:23But, you know, when he's hitting the middle of the pocket, you know, he's looking downfield, like, we have to do a better job of protecting him, especially in the middle of the pocket.
01:31We've talked about that since we've gotten here, how we want to build pass protection, and how we want to do those things.
01:37So, yeah, I think there's one thing when he's out running in traffic, he's got to make a great decision, but it's also hard to, you know, plant your back foot and be looking down the field.
01:46We'll have to get some of those things corrected.
01:49Mike, you talk about, you know, how hot it is to win in the NFL.
01:54You look at a game like yesterday where you almost make it hotter on yourself as a team when you come away with a win like that.
02:03What's the messaging out of that to your team and saying, okay, you know, it didn't go the way we want to go, but there has to be some positive because you're able to win in the NFL.
02:13You take away from a game like that.
02:14It's going to be the same.
02:15There's going to be all the stuff that we did well that we want to continue to enhance, the stuff that we have to improve on, and then we'll just talk about the stuff that we have to eliminate.
02:23So we've tried to put it into those three buckets.
02:26It's hopefully we're filling the first bucket up with the most stuff and then picking and choosing the places that we have to improve, and then hopefully there's not too many things that we have to eliminate.
02:40But each and every week that'll be different, and, you know, that's what we'll do after a win.
02:46That's what we'll do after a loss, and then we'll have to prepare here to go on the road.
02:50What did you say to Drake on the sideline?
02:52The cameras caught you after the interception.
02:55What were you trying to say to Drake there?
02:56I mean, just interactions with players, and that's, you know, again, this is a long game.
03:03It's a long season.
03:04We all put a lot of pressure on ourselves, and we just have to make sure that we're focused on the next play, and that's what I wanted to remind him.
03:12You know, we're not in the meetings room with you guys, so.
03:16Thank God.
03:16Yeah, exactly.
03:17It would be a longer meeting if we were there.
03:20I can only imagine the Monday morning lowlights, right?
03:23I still got PTSD from those.
03:26But when you look at the six sacks that you give up, right, we're not in there.
03:29How many of those are like, all right, on Drake trying to make a play?
03:33How many of those, the old line?
03:34Well, you guys can watch.
03:35I mean, everyone's at second, you know, we lose a yard and we run out of bounds, or is it a seven-yard loss in the middle of the pocket?
03:43So I'm not going to go through and describe all those, and you guys can look up at the numbers.
03:48Or, you know, last week we were two of six in the red zone.
03:51We've also, you know, there's where numbers get funny.
03:55You get inside the 20-yard line and you kneel on the football, it goes as a, you know, you didn't score in the red zone.
04:00So if you just want to be, you go down PFF and you look at the numbers, you're like, oh, well, two times this year we've gotten inside the red zone and kneeled on it.
04:08Those count is like you didn't score in the red zone.
04:11So, you know, I don't know.
04:14We haven't had that many sack yardage, but obviously the ones that are in the middle of the pocket, quarterback gets set and there's pressure.
04:22That's one thing.
04:23Quarterback extending and runs out of bounds for a loss of a yard.
04:28You know, again, I think every sack has a story.
04:31I'm just not going to go through each and every one of them.
04:33Pop Douglas had a good game, and you emphasize family, that this team is like a family, and he obviously had an emotional day yesterday with the loss of his uncle.
04:42How was the team able to support him?
04:45Well, obviously, I was unaware.
04:48I was unaware of that.
04:49And so when I became aware of it, I just reached out to Pop and just said, you know, how proud I was of him to be able to do that, to carry that weight on his heart and on his mind,
05:04and said whatever we could do to support him and his family and whatever he needed, that we wanted to do that.
05:11And so we'll find out more today and how we can help him.
05:14We have the privilege of talking to him every other week on Fridays.
05:17What a unique guy.
05:18Just such a happy, happy.
05:21I mean, I don't know how he's surviving here.
05:24He's like a human size of a wake me up shot.
05:26He is a great personality.
05:29He has a huge heart.
05:31He's a great teammate.
05:33He always has a smile on his face.
05:35I love coaching him.
05:37I love being around him.
05:39Injury update, whatever you can tell us when it comes to Booty.
05:43Not much.
05:44Okay.
05:46Hamstring.
05:47Booty has a hamstring.
05:48Christian Gonzalez.
05:50Returned to the game.
05:51Okay.
05:51It looked like he did a pretty good job on Drake London yesterday.
05:56From watching it.
05:57I mean, we'll have to go watch the tape.
05:59I mean, I think there were some good plays.
06:01And, you know, Christian told me that they shouldn't have been down there.
06:04And so he felt like he should have made the play on the deep ball or the penalty or whatever.
06:09So, you know, I want to just continue to, you know, see where we're at.
06:13I think that there were some very competitive plays.
06:16You know, we just got to get better stops in the red zone.
06:18And we'll keep working on that.
06:20The national conversation is that the team's 7-2,
06:25but the schedule's been a joke.
06:27And how do you balance, obviously, a young team, six straight wins.
06:32You're at the top of the division, playing great.
06:35How do you balance sort of keeping them in check,
06:37but also letting them know that anything is possible the rest of this way?
06:40Are you the same every day?
06:44You know what I mean?
06:44Like, I don't know.
06:45You want me to comment on the schedule or you want me to comment on my message to the team?
06:50What are you trying to do?
06:51You're working a lot into there.
06:52I mean, is that the national perspective or is that your –
06:55I can only coach one team at a time.
06:57I don't make the schedule.
06:59Yeah.
07:01Every team beats every – you know what I mean?
07:03Like, that's just – that's mind-boggling to me in the National Football League
07:07that there be strength to schedule.
07:10You've got a salary cap.
07:11Everybody spends the same amount of money.
07:12So, you guys know in this league that that doesn't really mean anything.
07:18I love your little smirk over there.
07:19You know, like, you come up with this question
07:21and you want to ask me about the strength of schedule and my message.
07:25My message has been the same every week is that we have to put everything
07:32that we have into each week, that everybody has to prepare as a starter.
07:36I love our practices and the way that we compete.
07:39And then you go and play the game.
07:41And, you know, to see the talent that Atlanta had, you know what I mean?
07:48They got – that's a talented football team.
07:50How many first-round picks?
07:51I don't know.
07:52Ten or 12 on their roster.
07:54You know, good skill players.
07:56So, I'm never going to apologize for our guys winning.
08:02Now, we have to play better.
08:04We have to – we took that nap at the end of the first half.
08:07That nap I was talking about on Friday, we took that nap.
08:09And it was like, oh, God, it was 21-7.
08:12And I'm like, okay, let's just get it into half.
08:14Oh, we're not getting it into half.
08:15We got to do a little bit more work.
08:18So, I think those are the things that you show them,
08:22how quickly it can change and turn just to put yourself in a game
08:29that was comfortable and that, you know, you could do whatever.
08:32But then now it goes to a one-score game and just like that.
08:36And we got to get into halftime and regroup.
08:39To be fair, that smirk is on Curtis' face all day long.
08:43Oh, I know.
08:44I don't care.
08:45We're fair.
08:46It's really – it's all –
08:47It's every Monday.
08:48You guys start my Mondays off.
08:51Well, we appreciate that.
08:52Yeah.
08:52We are glad.
08:53Can we play like –
08:54I know what else I'm starting off is I'm starting off this little
08:57Movember mustache.
08:58Oh, are you getting that going?
08:59One day in.
09:00All right, I like it.
09:00One day in, yeah.
09:01It looks pretty good.
09:02Partner with Gillette.
09:03We're going to do the Movember thing here for men's health
09:06and prostate cancer.
09:07Obviously, it's home here with Big T and, you know,
09:10just making sure our coaches and everybody's healthy is something
09:14that we're focused on.
09:15So, I'm going to – each week we're going to have –
09:17maybe we'll have a progress report every week.
09:19We should.
09:20I love it.
09:20I look like Tom Selleck here.
09:21Before and after.
09:23Did you get to chat with Cardi B at all yesterday?
09:27Maybe we went out last night.
09:28We were – that's why we were out with Cardi B.
09:30I was so jealous.
09:32You went out with Cardi B?
09:32No.
09:33I did not see Cardi B after the game.
09:35You did not see her after the game?
09:36I did not.
09:37You saw Keegan Bradley before the game.
09:38Yep, yep.
09:39I walked out and he was standing there.
09:41Yeah.
09:42Great player.
09:43Great golfer.
09:45Great New Englander.
09:46Yeah.
09:47He always supported me and the team.
09:50Yeah.
09:50So, excited to see him.
09:52I hadn't seen him in a while.
09:53Mike, I think a lot of fans are interested with the trade deadline coming up.
09:59How much of the conversations do you have with Elliott and Stretch and the other guys
10:04that are in the front office of like, okay, bringing in potentially guys but making sure
10:09we don't disrupt what we've got going on?
10:12And what's that balance like?
10:14You know, somebody asked this last week.
10:18I, you know, we have to look at everybody and understand how they can help us.
10:23And I mean, I don't think that they're, you know, I mean, again, we would have to do our
10:28homework on somebody.
10:29I don't think that there's a lot of guys that are issues out there.
10:33And we're always, we never want to disrupt the locker room.
10:36We also want to bring in good players that we think could fit and guys that would eventually,
10:41maybe they haven't been around our program or we don't necessarily know them, but we
10:46would still welcome them.
10:48I don't know who that is.
10:49It would be on a case-by-case basis.
10:51So, I think we would have to look at everybody that could potentially help us or make us better.
10:57I don't think that that's a huge concern.
11:00If there was a red flag or somebody was like, this isn't going to work, then we wouldn't
11:05explore it.
11:06But do you feel like with some of the veterans you brought in that that's really not a concern?
11:12Like that the...
11:13Yeah, it's hypothetical because, you know what I mean?
11:15I don't know what the names are.
11:16I don't know who that could potentially be.
11:19I don't think it would be a concern, to your point.
11:21I don't think that it would be detrimental.
11:26I don't think that it would be anything where, you know, but these things are all case-by-case
11:31basis and that's what we'll be up until tomorrow, I guess, at four o'clock.
11:36I know you always say, you know, you're open at all times to improving the football team,
11:41but do you look at it going into tomorrow and have an area of need that you're really focused
11:48on?
11:49No.
11:50I mean, I think, you know, we'll continue to see who wants to move people and let those
11:58guys handle that.
11:59But they usually come to me when something happens and something's potential and then
12:04we talk about it.
12:05I'm not going to sit there and chase every angle here this morning as I try to get the
12:12coaches and everybody ready for Tampa Bay.
12:14At seven and two, though, has it changed at all your approach to tomorrow?
12:19Well, I don't think it is nine games in here to what we've tried to build here.
12:27I don't think that that's made anything more imminent.
12:33If something that we feel like is going to help us now and in the future, then that probably
12:38is something that we should look at.
12:39But I don't think that a seven and two record is going to have to force us to do something
12:44or not do something.
12:45If it works for the long term and we can build this thing and we don't want to be here for
12:49a long time.
12:50The Ramondre toe injury, is he continuing to be day to day?
12:54Are we expected to see him back for next week?
12:57I'm not into predictions, so I wouldn't be able to tell you.
13:01I don't really do time frames.
13:04But all I can tell you is that he's working hard.
13:06He was here early Sunday morning before everybody else reported, saw him getting treatment, saw
13:13him doing conditioning, and so he is fighting to get back as fast as possible.
13:19Mike, I know you talk about seven and two.
13:22You still guys got a long way to go, but there are a lot of guys in that locker room.
13:26I didn't say anything about seven and two.
13:27I didn't say we're seven and two.
13:28Yeah, you didn't say anything about it.
13:30Maybe Curtis is mine.
13:31There you go.
13:32Don't confuse me with Curtis.
13:34We have a lot in common.
13:35I'm talking about the record and that you have a long way to go, but there are guys
13:40in that locker room that haven't experienced winning, haven't been around it.
13:45And I know that from the outside looking in, our expectations are like, this is a damn
13:51good football team.
13:52We have high expectations.
13:54How do you make sure that with some of these guys that haven't been maybe around winning
14:00and being seven and two, which is a very good record, to make sure that they don't get lost
14:04kind of in that moment and start looking ahead?
14:09Well, I think that you focus on the message each day.
14:13You focus on what the keys, what we need to do to improve.
14:16You focus on the things that went well.
14:18All those things we talk about, and then it's moving forward to, here's the challenge of
14:22Tampa Bay.
14:23We're going back on the road.
14:25We're going back down into a temperature where it could be 80 degrees.
14:29This is what we're going to need to do.
14:31So I think you always try to stimulate it that way and then focus on the things that they
14:36did well, the stuff that we got to improve, and then quickly move forward to, okay, this
14:42is how this is all going to fit in this week.
14:44This is who they've got.
14:45This is what our plan is.
14:46So I think you try to, it's a consistent exercise, but I think that the message changes, right?
14:56So, hey, we got to take care of the football.
15:00Let that slip defense, third down or red zone.
15:04This is, you know, we're good in a run game or we play these plays well, but this has to
15:10get fixed.
15:10So the things, the little specifics may change each week, but the way that we present them
15:16to them stays the same, and then we get on to Wednesday, and it's full throttle to Tampa
15:21Bay.
15:22Drake started off postgame yesterday talking about the impact that his interactions with
15:29the service members had.
15:30Yeah.
15:31It was emotional.
15:32Yeah, they were there Saturday, and they just, the families, for some of those fallen heroes,
15:37those families were just very appreciative of our players and the opportunity to be there.
15:43You know, ask them about their son or daughter, and they got emotional explaining the type of
15:49person that they were and the leader they were and the servant to the armed forces.
15:54And so, I was happy just to sit there and listen to them, let them tell their son or daughter's story.
16:04Yeah.
16:04All right.
16:05Well, I was going to ask.
16:06I mean, yeah, you've been kind of quiet this morning.
16:08Me?
16:08Yeah.
16:09Gosh, I mean, I'm trying my best.
16:11I get cut.
16:11You know, I have to deal with these three all day.
16:13But Morris, after the game, called out the guys for simulating a snap.
16:19Do you have any response to that?
16:20I don't.
16:21I mean, I didn't see anything.
16:23Like, is that fake?
16:24I don't know.
16:25It was a magic clap.
16:26It was a phantom clap.
16:28I mean, I can't.
16:29I mean, I clap all the time.
16:31I mean, the quarterbacks, when they want the ball, it's like.
16:35I mean, I didn't see anybody doing that.
16:37And then we don't, like, do the clap.
16:38Yeah.
16:39College clap.
16:40College offense clap.
16:41Everybody's doing it.
16:42I mean, there could be, like, an errant clap.
16:44I mean, I do see the quarterback, like, when it's, like, the silent, and it'll be like.
16:48But I didn't see anybody, like, do that.
16:52I don't either.
16:53Yeah, I don't know.
16:54Clapgate.
16:54Stretch up there.
16:56Stretch sees everything.
16:57He might know.
16:57It was Stretch.
16:58He was.
16:59That was new.
17:00I didn't see that.
17:01I just know.
17:02And then maybe that's a testament to our fans.
17:05Yeah.
17:06You know what I mean?
17:06They got loud, and I could hear the energy.
17:08And so thank them for that.
17:11But I.
17:12That's a good point.
17:12I did not.
17:13But I didn't see anything, and I'll let you guys go investigate on it.
17:17So just to be clear, you didn't have a designated clapper hidden in the stadium somewhere, like, in another press box or something like that?
17:23Okay.
17:23Nothing like that.
17:24No?
17:24No.
17:25That's actually Jason Garrett's nickname.
17:28Something to think about.
17:29It is, yeah, in the future.
17:31Such a random thing for him to say after.
17:32Yeah.
17:33Well, Coach, thank you.
17:35Happy birthday.
17:36Thanks, bud.
17:37You got plans tonight?
17:38I'm going to go out and grab a little dinner.
17:40With Cardi B.
17:41It's a 60 Eve.
17:43I mean, we're getting there.
17:44A 59.
17:4560 Eve.
17:46So.
17:47It's depressing, though.
17:48Don't you?
17:49Do you feel that way, getting older?
17:51No.
17:51No?
17:52I mean, you, I would usually be depressed.
17:56You still got a long way to go before that six is, uh, pretty close to it.
18:00Yeah.
