00:00But last week we talked about it.
00:01Hmm, wonder what's going to happen in Death Valley if Brian Kelly takes another loss.
00:04We found out, Joe. He's out.
00:06Yeah, and in the right move. I'll just say this.
00:08You lead at halftime 15-14.
00:11You get absolutely kicked in the chops and get blown out by 25 points plus.
00:16And third straight loss this year.
00:19They're trending potentially to a 6-6 season.
00:22And all they did in Brian Kelly's tenure was regress from year to year to year.
00:27They knock off Nick Saban in year number one.
00:31They win the SEC West.
00:32And they can't even make a 12-team expanded college football playoff in four seasons at the helm.
00:38We're three and a half under Kelly's tutelage.
00:40I mean, this team needs really an attention getter.
00:43I don't know where they go potentially for their next head coach.
00:46Is it Lane Kiffin?
00:47You want to throw $12, $13 million at Kiffin?
00:51That's always a possibility.
00:52Some are all they lost the other night in that matchup to UTSA.
00:57Or do you go back to potentially the mad scientist and Nick Saban, give him, you know,
01:02complete control of the athletic department and see if he can turn it around?
01:06We'll see.
01:07But whatever they go, they're going to need a coach to hit the ground running because Brian
01:10Kelly couldn't get it done in three and a half years.
01:13$50-plus million, Joe, for him to go away.
01:15Now, understand this, too, because you thought probably at the elevated schools, I should
01:18say the Blue Blood schools, right, LSU being one of those, where you say to yourself,
01:22well, it should be easier for a head coach to succeed here because we're supposed to
01:26be a top-10 team on a year-and-year-out basis, and we should be making playoffs.
01:29That's going to keep my job safe.
01:30But it acts of turning out to be extremely bad because LSU's expectations are championship,
01:35which means if you don't even make the playoff, you're out.
01:38And $50 million is not even a detriment to some of these ADs to sort of get rid of.
01:42Now, understand this.
01:43We saw some funny things play out this weekend, Joe, where the governor, you know, leadership
01:47is stepping in like, hey, what do you think about the AD of LSU?
01:50Well, he's not picking this next coach.
01:52That AD, he already got shown the road, Joe.
01:55He's out.
01:55Woodward, yeah, but here's the thing, and you can look at both sides to the equation.
02:00You know, he hired Kim Milkey.
02:02They won a national championship, hired the baseball coach.
02:05He oversaw the athletic program back in 2019 when they won a national championship, but
02:10he was also responsible for the buyout at Texas A&M with Jimbo Fisher, where they gave
02:15him basically, you know, $60 million to walk away, coupled with that with Brian
02:20Kelly, and even though they're going to have a private donor potentially pay a majority
02:24of that, it's not going to utilize state funds.
02:27The perception, Donnie, is how much are we going to pay these coaches?
02:30And if you're responsible for not one, but two now, how can we trust you to make the right
02:36decision in the future?
02:37And I'll just say this about LSU.
02:39When you look at a team and a program and an organization such as LSU that won a natty
02:45in 2019, potentially modern-day best team that we've seen with Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase,
02:51and Justin Jefferson, the expectation is to win immediately.
02:55When you have teams like Indiana now and Vanderbilt potentially making the college football
03:00playoff, and these were schools looked at as the bottom feeders potentially of the SEC
03:05and the Big Ten respectively, if you're getting paid $9.5 million, $10 million, that's great
03:11what you did in year one, but you have to make the college football playoff, and you
03:15have to compete for an SEC championship.
