00:00You've been a longtime activist for sex work in the last four years since you've been on the podcast.
00:05Would you say the industry has moved in a positive or negative direction from a legal perspective?
00:09Oh, boy. Well, it's very challenging, particularly given the incoming administration and a lot of unknown potentials out there.
00:22We have Project 2025, which is wide-reaching and impactful of all sectors of the adult industry.
00:33It could potentially go so far as to criminalize everything within the adult industry and take it down and out.
00:41We have these age verification laws, which is like the new obsession that these states are trying to pass.
00:49And it really isn't about keeping kids safe.
00:52It's about limiting what we're allowed to post on the Internet.
00:57It's a free speech war.
01:01And adult content is absolutely the very first block that's trying to hold up the other dominoes from collapsing down.
01:10As we head into the Trump administration, what is at risk for sex workers in the porn industry?
01:15I hope. I hope. I hope that there's nothing at risk.
01:20I hope I'm wrong. I hope that nothing happens.
01:23I hope that Project 2025 never materializes.
01:28And if it should materialize, I think we could potentially be in for a real battle ahead of us.
01:35We could lose access to what we're allowed to post on the Internet, what's allowed to exist on what platforms.
01:41We could see sex workers being removed from more platforms than ever, which is already occurring at an incredibly, incredibly alarming rate.
01:50I mean, so many sex workers lose accounts day after day after day across the board.
01:57We'll only see that potentially escalate.
01:59But more than ever, I think it's important that everybody work together.
02:04I don't really care who you voted for.
02:07If they come for our porn, we all need to have each other's back.
02:11We all need to be on the same team, team adult content, and take care of each other, work together, fight for our rights rather than being divisive.
02:21I agree.
02:22I mean, there have been quite a few people in the adult industry who voted for Trump.
02:26Some of them are very close friends of mine, and I still love them.
02:30And, you know, when I've spoken to them about their decisions, they believe that porn is not in danger.
02:36I mean, Trump himself has come out and said that he has no intention of going after porn.
02:41Whether or not you believe him, I personally don't really trust him, but that's just my opinion, is left.
02:48But, you know, they voted for him for other reasons, completely having nothing to do with the adult industry.
02:52So, I agree with you.
02:54I think that, okay, fine, he's coming into the administration.
02:58You voted for him.
02:59I did not.
03:00All right, let's move forward.
03:02And, you know, at this point, all we can kind of really do is wait and see what legislation comes down, if any.
03:09And then that's something I think we can all rally behind and focus against, because obviously nobody in the adult industry wants legislation coming in that's going to ban our industry.
03:22So, when I have fans ask me, like, you know, what can we do now that, you know, Trump is coming into office?
03:29And I said, I mean, not much until we see what happens, right?
03:35Yes, we wait, we see, well, what we don't do is tear each other apart.
03:40I agree.
03:41And start pointing fingers and turning this into an internalized battle.
03:46Yeah.
03:46That is the very last thing that we should be doing as a community.
03:51The rest of the world already doesn't like us enough.
03:54Why in the world are we going to go after each other?
03:56Like, let's be better.
03:57Let's lift each other up.
03:58Let's not let this every four years occurrence be the thing that splits our industry in two.
04:06Yeah.
04:07I mean, it's hard and I understand, like, it's hard, man.
04:12It's such a hard conversation because it's like-
04:14It is.
04:15Oh, God, it is.
04:15It's also about so much more than just porn, right?
04:18It's about so many other things, right?
04:20Yes.
04:21Because everyone has different priorities as to their non-negotiables and oh my God.
04:27I mean, you know, like-
04:28It's tough.
04:29The women's rights thing, obviously, like, it's really hard with me and I'm sure with
04:33you and so many other women.
04:34So it's a difficult conversation to have.
04:38This is what I think the problem is, is that the more you scream at the other side and tell
04:45them that they're stupid and tell them that they're dumb and that they don't know what
04:49they're talking about, you're not going to change people's minds that way, right?
04:52You're just going to make them dig their heels in more and then they're going to go,
04:56fuck you, you're an idiot, you don't know what you're talking about.
04:59And all it does is create more divisiveness, like you said, more hatred, more anger, and
05:05that doesn't solve anything, you know?
05:08And I had a very good friend who was a Republican who would have voted for Trump.
05:15He started working in the adult industry.
05:18He came to, you know, he'd never met a trans person before he started to work with me.
05:24He met trans people, like so many, you know, and there's the trans rights issues and all
05:28that stuff.
05:29So many people have never met a trans person, right?
05:31So like-
05:32We exist in our own little queer bubble.
05:34We're like, what do you mean you've never met a trans person?
05:36Yeah, so like the idea of like protecting trans people is just, it's just not in their, in
05:41their world, right?
05:42They don't even know, like they don't, so it's like, it's not what they're thinking
05:46about, right?
05:47And we know and we love so many trans, you know, our trans sisters, they're just like
05:52wonderful people.
05:53So of course, like, you know, we understand that we want to protect them, whereas other
05:57people may not, it just doesn't register with them.
06:00But I just think that like this battle doesn't help.
06:03And so my point is, is that he came around and he changed his mind and he voted for Kamala.
06:09And it wasn't because he was yelled at and he was screamed at and he was told that his,
06:14he was stupid for, you know, being a Republican and for, you know, having voted for Trump before.
06:20He was convinced because he met lots of trans women and he, and he, you know, talked to people
06:29in our industry and his mind and his eyes were opened and he saw, oh, this is actually, my
06:36mind has been changed.
06:38But it was through like experience and like understanding and conversation and love.
06:43Yes.
06:43You have to meet people where they are at to be able to hear them.
06:48If you're screaming, you can't hear them.
06:51And if and when should the industry come under attack, I certainly hope that you're not going
06:57to be like, it was their fault.
06:59They're stupid.
07:00They deserve everything bad that happens to them.
07:03That's my fear.
07:05Should some of this come to pass, that we'll have a situation where this one's out to get
07:10that one and, oh, but they were a supporter of this person.
07:13So they deserve to have their entire livelihood ruined forever.
07:16Like, we all got to be looking out for each other.
07:20We already have enough other things to worry about than the people that we could potentially
07:25end up on set with.
07:26We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:27We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:27We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:29We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:29We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:30We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:31We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:32We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:33We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:34We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:35We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:36We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:37We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:38We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:39We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:40We're going to be looking out for each other.
07:41We're going to be looking out for each other.
