00:03where today we're going to talk about the market launch of the new all-electric family SUV Li IE.
00:10Just one week after pre-sales began, Chinese manufacturer Li Auto has officially unveiled
00:16its first all-electric SUV and announced that deliveries will begin on August 20.
00:22The six-seater crossover, which looks like something between a van and an SUV,
00:27is available in three trim levels, Pro, Max, and Ultra,
00:32and starts at prices ranging from around €39,000, €42,500, and €45,000.
00:41With a length of 5 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meters, the Le Mans offers ample space.
00:48Even in the third row of seats, there's an impressive 87 centimeters of legroom.
00:53The model comes standard with electric all-wheel drive, which generates a total system output of
01:01574 horsepower from a front electric motor with 150 kilowatts and a rear electric motor with 250 kilowatts.
01:10The top speed is limited to 180 kilometers per hour.
01:18There is a choice of two NMC batteries with a capacity of around 90 or almost 98 kilowatt hours,
01:25which should enable ranges of 670 or 720 kilometers according to the CLTC standard.
01:31Power consumption is between 14.6 and 14.8 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers and the i8 can absorb
01:41enough energy for 500 kilometers in just 10 minutes at a suitable fast charging station.
01:48Comfort features such as standard dual-chamber air conditioning,
01:52variable seating with a backrest that can be adjusted by up to 145 degrees in the second row,
01:58padded headrests in the first two rows of seats and a panoramic roof that blocks out almost all
02:04UV rays round off the family package.
02:09Visually, the vehicle stands out with a drag coefficient of just over 0.2 and an unusual front
02:16design, in which the main headlights are positioned deep in the front apron,
02:19while the upper area does not have any lighting units at all.
02:23Although the Lexus is impressive both technically and visually,
02:29there are currently no plans for a market in Europe.
02:36A much-discussed crash test in which the Li Auto i8 collided with a moving 8-ton truck at a
02:42combined speed of 100 kilometers per hour caused a particular stir.
02:46Despite the enormous impact energy, the passenger compartment remained largely intact and,
02:54according to experts, the occupants would have been well protected.
02:58Another spectacular sight was the way the significantly larger truck was briefly lifted
03:03by the force of the impact.
03:06While many users on social media praised the stability and safety design of the i8,
03:12others expressed doubts about the realism of the test setup.
03:17The truck manufacturer itself commented and clarified that it was a specially tuned test vehicle.
03:26Regardless of the discussions, the test shows that the i-Act could set standards in terms of safety
03:31and thus sends a strong signal for the further development of safety standards for future electric
03:36vehicles in China.
