00:00Chinese automaker SideMotor is preparing to launch a facelifted MG4 electric hatchback, set to debut in China in September.
00:12Initial spy shots show the new model with larger dimensions and a completely redesigned interior.
00:20Pre-orders are expected to be available from August 5, with the official launch set for September 5.
00:26A striking feature of the new MG4 is the introduction of a new exterior color called Dongle Purple.
00:37The term Dongli means, come from the east, and according to Chick, the color was developed to have a metallic sheen in sunlight while creating a misty pearlescent sheen from other angles.
00:46The prototype model spotted was painted in this new color, which is the first time that real-world impressions have been made available outside of studio shots.
01:00Inside, the MG4 features a minimalist dashboard design.
01:03A floating touchscreen is positioned centrally, complemented by a right-hand digital instrument display.
01:11The steering wheel has two spokes and is multifunctional.
01:16Another technological innovation is the integration of OPPO's vehicle ecosystem.
01:20This platform allows vehicle preparation via smartphone, comprehensive app linking between mobile phone and vehicle, the use of an AI-based voice assistant and gesture-based navigation control.
01:36In addition, the new MG4 offers an electronic gear selection module mounted on the steering column, an inductive smartphone charging surface, physical buttons in a metal look and seats with electrical adjustment, heating and ventilation functions.
01:50An L2 Plus driver assistance system provides additional safety and comfort, which supports navigation on motorways with an autopilot function, among other things.
02:01However, precise technical details have not yet been released.
02:06The body of the revised MG4 now measures 4.4 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width and 1.6 meters in height.
02:14The wheelbase is 2.8 meters.
02:16Compared to the previous model, which was 4.3 meters long and had a wheelbase of 2.7 meters, this represents a noticeable increase.
02:28The new MG4 thus surpasses competitors such as the BYD Dolphin and the Volkswagen ID.3 in terms of dimensions and should offer noticeably more space for passengers and luggage.
02:37Registration documents indicate that the vehicle will be equipped with a 120 kW electric motor on the rear axle.
02:47The chassis layout already known from the current model with McVersion front suspension and 5-link independent rear suspension will be adopted.
02:59Chinese media reports also mention the possibility that the new MG4 will receive a semi-solid battery, which should enable a range of up to 800 kilometers according to the CRTC standard.
03:10However, there is no official confirmation from AIC yet.
