00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today it's all about the exciting topic of the Toyota BZ5 Fieldgo concept.
00:08An off-road capable electric car that is currently only being shown in China
00:12and is triggering genuine wanderlust among car fans there.
00:16The so-called forbidden fruit is a well-known phenomenon among car enthusiasts.
00:23Vehicles that are offered in other markets but have little chance of an official sales launch here.
00:27In the US, this used to mean things like the unattainable Honda Civic Type Air or the Audi RS6 Avant.
00:36But in today's age of electromobility, it is above all China that has become the king of this forbidden offer.
00:45Anyone who visits the Shanghai Auto Show will see a multitude of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles
00:50that will probably never see the light of day outside of China.
00:53Even Toyota, a manufacturer that has previously been rather hesitant when it comes to electromobility,
01:00is now presenting a complete family of the BZ series in Shanghai.
01:05This includes a model that could well be successful in North America, the Toyota B5 Fieldgo concept.
01:11This vehicle is equipped with BF Goodrich off-road tires, a roof basket,
01:17and a camping setup that's hard to beat in terms of adventurousness.
01:21While the name BZ5 is reminiscent of the well-known BZ4X, the B5 is a completely unique model.
01:29It's a cross between a coupe and an SUV and is produced jointly with FAO, a Chinese Toyota partner.
01:35The electric motors are from BYD, as is the installed Blade LFP battery.
01:43According to the manufacturer, this battery can be charged from 30 to 80% in just 27 minutes.
01:49The range is stated to be around 650 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC cycle.
01:56Visually, like many models in the BZ series, the vehicle is bold, modern, and very futuristic.
02:02But the Fieldgo design particularly stands out.
02:07The reason for this is obvious.
02:09The robust tires, the roof basket, and the camping accessories,
02:12including a sleeping area in the rear and wide-folding rear seats,
02:16make the BZ5 Fieldgo a true outdoor companion.
02:20Even mud flaps are included, a clear sign that this car was designed for off-road use.
02:27Toyota has perfectly captured the spirit of the times with this concept.
02:30In China, camping has become a real trend since the pandemic,
02:35especially among the emerging middle class.
02:38People want to get out of densely populated cities and into nature.
02:43Electric vehicles like this one are ideal for this,
02:46combining the convenience of a mobile workplace with emission-free mobility.
02:49In addition, many of these vehicles are equipped with plenty of technology,
02:56ideal prerequisites for use as a base camp in the wild.
03:00Whether the BZ Filmfield Go concept will actually go into production remains to be seen.
03:06Toyota provides little information about it on its website,
03:09and little was available at the show itself.
03:11This may also be due to language barriers.
03:17One thing is certain, however,
03:19this vehicle and many others in the BZ series are raising the question
03:23of whether Toyota would offer similar models in markets like the US or Europe.
03:28However, because many of these electric vehicles come from Chinese joint ventures,
03:33they are currently not under consideration for international market launch.
03:36One can still dream, though,
03:39because an electric Toyota with off-road tires on a roof basket
03:42and a camping feel would probably have a good chance in Western countries as well.
03:47As always, you'll find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
