00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today, we're talking about the brand new Audi Q3, which we're introducing in the first check,
00:08including a test drive and a detailed video.
00:11The Audi Q3 is one of the global bestsellers of the brand with the four rings.
00:16Over 2.5 million vehicles have been sold worldwide in two generations.
00:21More than half of them in Europe alone.
00:25Now, the third generation is in the starting blocks and is set to hit the roads from autumn.
00:30Technically, the new Audi Q3 is based on the so-called MQB Evo architecture of the Volkswagen
00:36Group, which is also used to build the current models of the VW Tiguan and the closely related
00:41Cupra Terramar.
00:43The latter is practically the twin brother of the new Q3.
00:47Both are manufactured at the Hungarian plant in Gore.
00:51In addition, production is also set to start at the main workshop around a year after the
00:55market launch.
00:56Initially, only the classic steep body model will be available.
01:02However, the version with a hatchback body, the SUV coupé called the Q3 Sportback, is set
01:07to follow soon.
01:09Visually, Audi has remained true to the Q3, but has significantly further developed the
01:14design.
01:15The lines appear sharper and modern, but without making any radical changes.
01:19Those who are not a dedicated car or Audi fan may not immediately recognize the innovations.
01:26The front now features a striking four-eyed face.
01:30LED lights for the daytime running lights and the indicators are located above the main
01:34headlights, the light signature of which can be individually adjusted via the infotainment
01:38system.
01:39Those who want something even more modern can optionally choose Matrix LA technology with
01:44adaptive lighting functions.
01:47A special highlight, the modules, which are around 13 millimeters wide, consist of tiny
01:52LED elements, each a micron in size, which make it possible to project warnings in the event
01:57of icy roads or construction sites directly onto the road.
02:00This is also impressively demonstrated in the video.
02:05The radiator grille dispenses with a visible frame and underlines the modern design language.
02:12Powerful wheel arches with muscular cheeks can be seen on the sides.
02:16The wheel sizes vary between 17 and 20 inches, depending on the equipment.
02:21The design of the hack references the new Audi A6 Avant.
02:25A narrow light strip integrates the indicators.
02:28Above this is the LED taillight, which harmoniously matches the design of the front.
02:33Even the four Audi rings are now illuminated in red.
02:37The new Q3 has grown in length by around 4 centimeters to just over 4.5 meters.
02:43The width remains the same at around 1.9 meters, while the height is now around 4 centimeters
02:49lower than before at around 1.6 meters.
02:53The new Q3 impresses with its generous amount of space inside.
02:58Adults can sit comfortably in both the front and rear, even if the back is not quite as
03:02spacious as in the VW Tiguan.
03:05This also applies to the Cupra Terra, which uses the same platform.
03:10As before, the rear seat can be moved forwards, allowing the boot volume to be adjusted.
03:15In the maximum case, up to around 575L are available with the backrest upright and the bench seat
03:22advanced.
03:23Around 45L more than before.
03:26If you fold down the backrest, the maximum load volume is almost 1,400L.
03:31The maximum trailer load is 2.1 tons, the drawbar load is 90 kg.
03:39The cockpit is very reminiscent of other current Audi models.
03:44A digital instrument cluster with a diagonal of 11.9 inches and a centrally positioned infotainment
03:50touchscreen with 12.8 inches are combined under a slightly curved panel.
03:54Audi has dispensed with a passenger display here.
03:59A head-up display can be ordered as an option, which projects the most important driving information
04:04directly onto the windshield.
04:07One innovation concerns the controls.
04:10Classic steering column stocks are no longer available.
04:13Instead, the controls for the turn signals, wipers and gear selector lever are located on a
04:18common unit above the steering column.
04:21Our initial test drive shows that usability is not affected.
04:26Everything works as usual.
04:29Technically, the Audi Q3 is the first model from the brand to use new infotainment software
04:34based on Google's Android operating system.
04:38However, Audi's own user interface has been retained.
04:42Those who want better sound can choose the Sonos sound system with 12 speakers and a subwoofer
04:47as well as an output of 420 watts.
04:51The smartphone is charged on an inductive charging surface with cooling function.
04:57For music lovers, there is a sound package called Function on Demand to improve the sound quality
05:02of compressed files.
05:05Whether this will entice customers to pay for it remains to be seen.
05:10A fancy detail.
05:12There are 300 tiny holes in the door panels, behind which the ambient lighting glows softly.
05:17The Advanced Driving Assistance System Travel Assist, which works with Swarm Data, is free
05:23of charge for the first three years after registration, after which it is subject to a charge.
05:29The Parking Assistant, which remembers routes of less than 35 kilometers and can reverse up
05:34to 50 meters, is also on board.
05:36Also new is the optional acoustic glazing for the front side windows, which further reduces
05:43the noise level in the interior.
05:46Those looking for extra comfort can choose an adaptive suspension with two-valve technology
05:51that regulates the oil flow in the shock absorbers.
05:53The engines are familiar from other models in the MQB Evo Modular System.
05:59The entry-level model is the first TFSI with 150 horsepower, cylinder deactivation and mild
06:05hybrid technology with 48 volts.
06:08The torque is 250 newton meters.
06:11Shifting is done via a standard 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
06:16Above that is the 2.0 TFSI with all-wheel drive.
06:19The top model delivers 2.0 liters of power with 65 horsepower and a maximum torque of 400
06:25newton meters.
06:26This enables the Audi Q3 to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.7 seconds.
06:32The top speed is 240 kilometers per hour.
06:36A weaker version with 204 horsepower and 320 newton meters of torque will follow with a slight delay.
06:42The only diesel in the range is a 2.0 TDI with 150 horsepower and 360 newton meters of torque,
06:51which drives the front wheels exclusively.
06:55Here too, the dual-clutch transmission with seven gears is standard.
06:59It seems possible that a more powerful diesel with 193 horsepower,
07:03as already installed in the VW Tiguan, will also be offered in the Audi Q3 at a later date.
07:09Among the figures, it was heard at the presentation that the 2-liter petrol engines will also be
07:13equipped with mild hybrid technology in the future. This should also apply to the diesel.
07:19The Audi Q3i hybrid will be available at launch with a system output of 272 horsepower.
07:25The combustion engine, an S-TFSI, produces 177 horsepower, while the electric motor produces 115 horsepower.
07:33The electrical energy comes from a battery with a total capacity of 25.7 kilowatts hours,
07:39of which 19.7 kilowatts hours can be used. The purely electric range is up to 120 kilometers.
07:47Charging is possible via a Type 2 connector with 11 kilowatts or via CCS at a fast charger with up to 50
07:53kilowatts. Sales will start in September. The basic model with 150 horsepower and mill hybrid
08:01technology will be available from around 44,600 euros, around 3,300 euros more than its predecessor
08:08without electrification. The Q3i hybrid with 272 horsepower will cost just over 49,000 euros.
08:15The exact scope of equipment is not yet known in detail. As usual, Audi will bundle numerous options
08:24into packages such as Tech, Tech Plus, Tech Pro and various Slime variants. You can read the full
