00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog, where we introduce you to an exclusive Mercedes-Benz CLA 255 Plus with EQ technology in the elegant manufacturer Sky Blue Metallic, Black interior with red and beige accents and aluminum trim strips as a European model.
00:19With the new CLA, Mercedes-Benz is presenting a vehicle that is completely geared towards the needs of an electric drive for the first time.
00:26The CLA is already considered the car of destiny for the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer, because Mercedes wants to return to the road to success with this model.
00:39Group CEO Ola Kellinius sees the CLA as the prelude to the biggest product fireworks display in the history of Mercedes.
00:49The new electric solar is set to usher in nothing less than a completely new era for the traditional manufacturer.
00:56After two years of intensive advertising and development, Mercedes promises a vehicle with the C that is dynamic, intelligent, and future-oriented.
01:08But can the new CL really become a superhero car that puts the carmaker back on the road to success?
01:13In technical terms, Mercedes is certainly setting new standards with its AMA.
01:22The vehicle has a high-voltage battery that enables a remarkable range of up to 792 kilometers.
01:30A top value that even significantly exceeds the popular Tesla Model 3 with a range of around 702 kilometers.
01:36The difference to the absolute top model of the company itself, the Mercedes EQS with a maximum range of 821 kilometers, is surprisingly small.
01:49The built-in 800-volt system is particularly interesting.
01:54A range of 325 kilometers can be recharged within just 10 minutes of charging time.
01:59This is a huge step forward compared to previous electric cars.
02:04The CL is available on the market with both rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive version, which appeals to customers with different preferences.
02:14Mercedes has also significantly increased the top speed, so that the Czar now reaches a top speed of 210 kilometers per hour.
02:22A considerable leap forward from the previously usual 160 kilometers per hour for comparable models.
02:31In terms of technology, however, Mercedes is not only setting standards in terms of drive and range, but also in the areas of software and infotainment.
02:40Particularly noteworthy is the new MBOS operating system, which was developed specifically for Mercedes vehicles.
02:46Similar to modern smartphones, it allows the vehicle to be updated over the air at any time.
02:56This means that all updates can be conveniently carried out via the internet, which is no longer necessary.
03:04This keeps the vehicle technically up-to-date in the long term, similar to what is common with smartphones today.
03:09The new Zeal also features an intelligent voice assistant with artificial intelligence, which was developed together with the two technology giants Microsoft and Google.
03:24This integration enables complex interactions between vehicle occupants.
03:28In response to simple questions about recommendations for romantic restaurants in Stuttgart, the voice assistant not only provides suggestions, but even offers to reserve a table directly by phone.
03:45The integrated system based on Google Maps ensures convenient navigation, taking into account route planning including weather data, topography and charging stations.
03:54Another practical feature here is that the charging station is reserved directly, eliminating the need to search for free charging stations.
04:04The new CLA is also advanced in the entertainment area.
04:09For example, passengers can stream films or play video games directly on the large cockpit display while driving.
04:16Provided that a stable internet connection is guaranteed.
04:19As usual, Mercedes focuses on a high level of recognition when it comes to design.
04:27The 4.7 meters long coupe sedan is around 4 centimeters longer than its predecessor and the wheelbase has been extended by 6 centimeters to 2.8 meters.
04:37This not only creates a more spacious interior, but also a more striking visual appearance.
04:42Particularly striking are the 142 small LED stars that have been integrated into the north radiator grille, even though such a grille would not actually be necessary for electric vehicles.
04:57The headlights and taillights are also designed in a star shape, which means that the CLA can always be recognized as a typical Mercedes.
05:04Other visual highlights include the large panoramic roof, the continuous display in the cockpit and the retractable door handles.
05:15At the same time, the price difference between the CLA and the even higher positioned vehicles from Mercedes is noticeable.
05:24Elements made of hard plastic between the seats and doors show that Mercedes had to make compromises in certain areas in order to keep the vehicle price within budget.
05:32In terms of price, the target model is nevertheless likely to be significantly higher than the previous combustion engine version, which currently starts at around €40,000.
05:46Experts assume that the electric CLA will be around a third more expensive, which could correspond to a starting price of around €53,000.
05:56However, the exact pricing remains to be seen.
05:59The CLA is of crucial importance to Mercedes-Benz, especially against the backdrop of falling sales figures in the electric segment.
06:10Last year, sales figures for electric CLAs slumped by a full 23%.
06:15The EQS and EQE models in particular have so far failed to meet expectations.
06:20The former electric brand EQ has also not been very popular with customers, which is why Mercedes is gradually discontinuing this model series.
06:32Instead, Mercedes is now pursuing the strategy of giving the electric vehicles the well-known names of the combustion engine models and simply using the EQ technology suffix.
06:41However, Mercedes does not want to rely solely on fully electric drives.
06:49Due to the ongoing uncertainties in the global electric market, a hybrid version of the CLA with a petrol engine will also be presented at the end of the year.
06:57This hybrid version will have a 48-volt on-board network, which increases the electrical support of the combustion engine and thus ensures lower fuel consumption.
07:08The petrol engine for this hybrid variant will be manufactured for the first time in China by Mercedes' partner Gilley.
07:18Final assembly will then take place in Rasteed.
07:22At least three more models are to be built on the same platform as the new CLA in the future, including the successors to the compact SUV models GLA and GLB as well as a station wagon shooting brake.
07:33Overall, the new Mercedes' CLA thus represents a decisive turning point for the future of Mercedes.
07:43With a clear focus on electromobility and state-of-the-art technology in all areas, the vehicle clearly shows the direction Mercedes wants to take in the future.
07:54The electric Ziklar is intended to bring the urgently needed success and get the group back on track.
07:59CEO Ola Kellinius calls it the biggest product launch in history.
08:06Whether the new Ziklar can actually meet these high expectations will only become apparent after its market launch.
