00:03Today it's all about the VW ID Aura, a new concept car that Volkswagen presented at the Auto Shanghai.

00:10The ID Aura is part of a three-part presentation that also saw the unveiling of the IDRA and IDVO models.

00:19While each of the vehicles is assigned to a different joint venture within China,

00:23the ID Aura comes from FAU Volkswagen and is based on the newly developed Compact Main Platform,

00:29which was designed specifically for the Chinese market.

00:33The VW ID Aura is a fully electric notch-back sedan positioned in the Compact class.

00:40It is the first vehicle with zonal electronics architecture on this platform.

00:45A key feature of the ID Aura is the advanced system for highly automated driving,

00:50which is expected to enable semi-autonomous driving at Level 2 Plus starting next year.

00:55In practice, this means that the ID Aura can drive independently in certain situations,

01:03including overtaking, turning, and merging into traffic, but always under the supervision of the driver.

01:11The system is supported by an AI assistant that can control numerous vehicle functions as well as the infotainment system.

01:18The operating concept is also more reminiscent of a smartphone than a traditional car,

01:24which should appeal particularly to younger, tech-savvy customers.

01:28With the ID Aura, Volkswagen is providing a concrete outlook on its future design and technology direction in China.

01:35All three concepts Aura, Aura, and Evo are based on the ID.

01:41Code concept presented in Beijing in 2024, which serves as the basis for VW's new design language in China.

01:49In total, the group plans to launch more than 30 new models for China by the end of 2027,

01:56including around 20 so-called NEPHIs, or new energy vehicles, which include electric cars,

02:02plug-in hybrids with range extenders, and fuel cell models.

02:06Although no specific technical data on the battery capacity or performance of the ID,

02:11Aura has been published so far, it is clear that the focus is on modern technology,

02:17high connectivity, and intelligent driving.
