BMW setzt ein deutliches Zeichen für die Zukunft: In Regensburg und Neutraubling läuft jetzt die Produktion auf Hochtouren. Mit einem neuen Karosseriebau reagiert BMW auf die hohe Nachfrage nach dem BMW X1 und BMW X2. Über 120 Karosserien täglich, 294 Roboter, 238 Schweißzangen und rund 4.800 Schweißpunkte pro Fahrzeug – das Werk in Neutraubling liefert nun direkt zu Deutschlands volumenstärkstem BMW-Werk.

Im Jahr 2024 wurden über 340.000 Fahrzeuge in Regensburg produziert – ein Rekordwert. Mehr als ein Drittel davon war elektrifiziert. Auch die neue Modellgeneration – die sogenannte "NEUE KLASSE" – wird hier vorbereitet. Investiert wurden mehr als 550 Millionen Euro in Regensburg und Wackersdorf. Die Produktion läuft im Dreischichtbetrieb, mit umfangreichen Umbauten über den Sommer 2025.

00:08Today we have exciting news directly from the BMW Grubwork Regensburg,
00:12which is investing in the future of vehicle production with a significant expansion.
00:17In 2024, the BMW plant Regensburg was the BMW Group's highest volume plant in Europe,
00:24with over 340,000 vehicles manufactured. This was more than 100,000 units more than the previous
00:31year. Every day, over 1,400 vehicles roll off the production line, with an average of one new car
00:38every 57 seconds. More than a third of these vehicles are electrified, either plug-in hybrid
00:45or fully electric, and are produced for the global market. This underscores the central role of the
00:51site in BMW's global electrification strategy. A significant milestone for the region is the
00:59commissioning of a new body shop in Neutrogon. The new production facility was officially opened
01:06in the presence of District Administrator Tanya Schweiger and Neutrobley Mayor Harold Stadler.
01:12This expansion has become necessary primarily due to the high global demand for the BMW X1 and BMW X2.
01:19More than 120 car bodies are currently being produced every day in the new hall in Neutrobley.
01:26They are then transported to the main plant in Regensburg, where they are assembled into
01:31finished automobiles in three-shift operation. The new body shop is located in a hall on Berliner
01:37Straße covering approximately 400,000 square meters, supplemented by four smaller extensions with an area
01:44just under 1,000 square meters. The hall, originally built in 2003, was previously used by BMW for logistics
01:53purposes. Following an official change of use in April 2024, the hall was completely converted in less
02:01than 12 months. The dismantling of the previous logistics areas and the construction of body shop
02:07production took place in parallel. The first test bodies were delivered to the bank in January 2025,
02:14and the ramp-up of series production officially began at the beginning of March.
02:19Around 150 employees currently work in the new production hall in single-shift operation.
02:25Production is highly automated with 294 robots. A total of around 4,800 welding points are created
02:34per body, carried out by 238 welding guns. In the future, the new traveling plant will manufacture
02:41not only bodies for the BMW X2, but also for the BMW X1. This will relieve the pressure on the existing
02:49body plant in Regensburg and increase the flexibility of the entire production process.
02:53The expansion has also been received positively from a political perspective.
02:59District Administrator Tanya Schweig emphasized that with this decision,
03:03BMW is sending a strong signal for the location and is making a strategic investment in the future.
03:09Mayor Harold Stadler emphasized the importance of the expansion for the region and expressed his
03:14pride that bodies made in new traveling are now on the road worldwide.
03:17Parallel to the expansion, the BMW Group has invested over 550 million euros in the Regensburg and
03:26Wackersdorf locations over the past two years. This secures the long-term future of these production
03:32facilities. Plant manager Armin Edner described this as a clear commitment to Oberprez as an industrial
03:38location. At the same time, the plant is already preparing for production of the next model generation,
03:46particularly within the so-called new class with which BMW aims to set new standards in the areas of
03:51digitalization, electrification, and sustainability. For this purpose, initial modifications were made to
04:00the body shop, paint shop, and assembly during a production interruption at the turn of the year.
04:05Another extensive modification phase is planned for summer 2025 in the last five weeks.
04:13The innovative strength of the Regensburg plant has not gone unnoticed.
04:18At the Industry Congress in Ludwigsburg, the plant was named Factory of the Year 2024 in the
04:24category of Outstanding Series Production. The jury particularly praised the high level of flexibility,
04:31innovative strength, and exemplary cooperation between the company and its workforce.
04:37The implementation of the transformation to the iFactory was described as impressive and
04:41groundbreaking for Germany as a production location.
