00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:06Today it's all about the exciting design study Vision Rapidor,
00:10a concept vehicle that looks like a Jaguar F-Type from an all-electric future.
00:15The Vision Rapida was developed as part of an exciting project
00:18by the Instituto Europeo di Design in Turin, or IED for short,
00:23in collaboration with the renowned design studio E-Tel Design.
00:26Every year, students on the Transportation Design program
00:32get the unique opportunity to design a fully-fledged concept vehicle
00:35together with a real car manufacturer.
00:39This year the result was a compact and relatively affordable sports car
00:44with a fast-back silhouette and 2-plus-2 seating arrangement,
00:47aimed specifically at the younger generation.
00:52At first glance, the Vision Rapida is reminiscent of a modern interpretation
00:56of the F-Ty, the kind Jaguar designers today might create for the electric age.
01:03With a touch too much influence from the Type-00 concept, it seems.
01:08The students were tasked with designing a vehicle
01:11for the so-called underserved segment of compact sports cars.
01:14The aim is to offer young people, especially Generation Z,
01:19an emotional driving experience that isn't made unaffordable by high prices or luxury expectations.
01:27The design is based on classic proportions.
01:29A front-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive, a determined look thanks to striking headlights,
01:37and a sculpted bumper give the car a powerful appearance.
01:43The rear end is simple and functional,
01:45with an integrated spoiler that lends the fast-back design additional excitement.
01:50Even though IED was inspired by icons of the past,
01:55the result appears thoroughly modern.
01:58Retro references are deliberately avoided.
02:01IED emphasizes that the Vision Rapida doesn't follow a specific design language
02:06and could therefore be adopted and further developed by any car brand.
02:10This is a philosophy that ITAL design has always followed.
02:13The technical concept is equally flexible.
02:18The Rapida is designed for various drive systems,
02:21from classic combustion engines to hybrid technology and all-electric drive.
02:26There are no official images of the interior yet,
02:29but according to IED,
02:30the interior is intended to combine sportiness and simplicity.
02:35The 2 plus 2 configuration offers space for 4 people,
02:39with deep, enveloping seats made of high-quality,
02:42pleasant-to-the-touch materials,
02:44as well as subtle references to streetwear culture.
02:49An interesting mix that suits the cultural openness of Generation Z,
02:53who like to draw inspiration from a variety of styles.
02:57With a length of around 4.5 meters,
03:00a height of around 1.90 meters,
03:02a height of around 1.30 meters,
03:05and a wheelbase of 2.8 meters,
03:07the Vision Rapida is in the range of typical compact sports cars.
03:12Dario Loriola, exterior designer at ITALICINE,
03:17explained that with the Rapida,
03:18the students wanted to create a vehicle that reflects their values and desires.
03:23The goal was to hark back to the small, affordable sports cars of the 1990s,
03:28which represented the entry point into the world of driving for many young people at the time.
03:33Andrea Porter, head of business development at ITALICINE,
03:39added that the Rapida not only captures the essence of Japanese sports car culture,
03:43but also makes references to manga, video games, films, and series.
03:49Media that helps many young people today express themselves and connect generations.
