00:00Welcome to the video from Car Magazine Tuning Block on the topic of the GM Chevrolet Corvette-inspired concept,
00:07Electric Corvette Outlook with Split Window Front.
00:10In a new design initiative, General Motors is venturing into a futuristic interpretation of the legendary Corvette,
00:16and in Great Britain too.
00:19More precisely, in Leamington's Bar around 20 miles from Birmingham,
00:23the US car manufacturer has opened a new design studio,
00:26which is now part of the global GM design network, which also includes locations in Detroit, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Zurich.
00:35To demonstrate the creative power of this new studio,
00:39a spectacular concept was designed under the direction of Julian Thompson.
00:44The aim? To imagine the Corvette in the future.
00:48GM officially emphasizes that this is not a pre-production vehicle, but a pure concept with no production connection.
00:54However, this is not the end of the plan.
00:59Further experimental designs for the Corvette are planned for 2025,
01:03each from other GM studios around the world.
01:06And even though GM describes the concept car as a creative exercise,
01:11there are many indications that the first design cues of a potential Corvette C9 are already being hinted at.
01:16The silhouette is reminiscent of a fighter jet, measuring just under 4.7 meters long,
01:22around 2.2 meters wide, and barely more than 1 meter high.
01:27The front end is set low and resembles a catamaran,
01:31with large cooling air intakes on the sides and an open center duct
01:34that directs the air underneath the vehicle to generate downforce.
01:37A real highlight is the comeback of the so-called split window.
01:45This time, it's not a split rear window like on early Corvette models,
01:49but a distinctively split windshield.
01:53This arches far into the sides and is also part of the electrically opening gullwing doors.
01:59The resulting vertical center axis, according to GM,
02:04is reminiscent of modern racing cars and not only offers a new visual center,
02:08but is also intended to provide structural stability and enable a panoramic view.
02:13It also serves a protective function, similar to the halo system in Formula 1.
02:19The entire body is clearly divided into two parts.
02:22Futuristic references to the classic mid-engine Corvette are seen above,
02:26while below is a functional undercarriage with a focus on technical elements.
02:31This includes the battery unit, which is integrated directly into the structure,
02:35and sophisticated aerodynamics that do without any noticeable spoilers or wanes.
02:41Instead, aero elements embedded in the underbody ensure the necessary efficiency.
02:46The wheel arches with 22-inch rims at the front and even 23-inch ones at the rear,
02:52further emphasize the powerful appearance.
02:56Massive air intakes are located in front of the rear wheels, which serve the drive and cooling.
03:02The designers rely on modern technologies such as the 3D duck for additive manufacturing,
03:07active aerodynamics, and pushrod suspension.
03:11All inspired by high-performance motorsport.
03:13As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
