00:00Welcome to the new video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today we're talking about an exciting topic.
00:05Renault is opening a new Exhibition Center in Flints.
00:11The history of the Renault brand in a new location.
00:14The French car manufacturer will open a new Exhibition Center in Flints, outside Paris, in 2027,
00:20where it will present an exceptional collection of historic vehicles, works of art and archive documents.
00:26The public will be able to explore the brand's unique heritage through guided tours and themed exhibitions.
00:35This ambitious project invites visitors to take a journey through the brand's 125-year history,
00:41highlighting Renault's influence on automotive history and collective memory.
00:48Here's a statement on the subject.
00:50A brand draws its strength first and foremost from its roots, says Fabrice Campbell, CEO of the Renault brand.
00:58Our industrial and cultural heritage is based on 125 years of history and is still highly relevant today.
01:07It inspires our employees every day to work on the future of mobility.
01:12And this heritage belongs to everyone, because Renault is also part of a universal popular culture.
01:18That's why we wanted to open up our heritage to a wide audience through a dynamic experience that is accessible to all.
01:26The new location is a place for the whole family, where you can wander among the cars and connect with a history that is not static but constantly evolving.
01:36A heritage that we are proud of and that we want to share in its fullest.
01:39From 2027, visitors to the new exhibition center will be able to immerse themselves in Renault's rich industrial and cultural history.
01:54The project offers the opportunity to rediscover iconic models, each with its own story to tell a story not only of technical innovation but also of social change.
02:03And since cars shape cities, lifestyles, art and culture, they are also direct witnesses to everyday life.
02:17The new venue will evoke personal memories of certain car brands or advertising spots that have marked their time
02:22and will offer visitors the opportunity to admire exceptional works of art from the Renault collection.
02:27It shares the history of Renault and brings it to life through experiences, interactions, special events and technology,
02:39such as an immersive odyssey based on virtual reality.
02:46Visitors will experience the adventure of the Renault brand, whose history is closely linked to the history of France,
02:52in a uniquely immersive way.
02:53The new exhibition and events center is being built in Flint, just outside Paris.
03:02Opened in 1952, this iconic site of the company's history has seen the production of over 18 million vehicles.
03:12It is the witness of a unique industrial adventure where the memory of millions of vehicles produced meets the ambitions of more sustainable mobility.
03:23Home to iconic models such as the Dauphin of the 50s, the Renault 5 of the 70s and 80s,
03:29the Renault 4, four generations of the Clio and the Zoe, reinvented itself in 2021 as the Refactory,
03:36a pioneering site committed to the circular economy of mobility.
03:42The new center is located in front of the factory, on the edge of Flint's in Elizabethville.
03:47It will serve as a gateway between these two cities and the world of Renault,
03:53continuing a story that began over 70 years ago.
03:59Designed by architect Jacob Selnick here of the CGA office,
04:03the building blends harmoniously with the orthogonal lines of the original factory building,
04:07designed by Bernard Surface, winner of the 1939 Pride Orome.
04:10In contrast to the factory's striking horizontal lines,
04:16the new building has strong vertical lines.
04:20It resembles a staircase with six nested parallelopipedes that gradually increase in size like Russian dolls.
04:28This creates multiple openings in the facade on each level,
04:31allowing visitors to view the entire collection.
04:33The facade is open and welcoming,
04:39in contrast to the large, opaque factory building in the background.
04:46A vibrant space dedicated to Renault's heritage,
04:49the center will feature a 2,800 square meters event space
04:52surrounded by areas for work, discussions and storage.
04:58The most spectacular area houses the collection of hundreds of vehicles mounted on racks.
05:03The cars appear to be standing on huge shelves,
05:07forming a wall that can be seen not only from the event space,
05:10but also from the outside through the openings in the facade.
05:15The event space is shaped like a large hall,
05:18the ceiling of which gradually rises from the entrance to the gigantic vehicle display.
05:24The building also includes a workshop for the restoration of vehicles and storage areas for parts and equipment.
05:29Here is the statement.
05:33Renault is opening the doors to its heritage and celebrating over 125 years of innovation with this unique, vibrant and accessible space.
05:43Design and passion for cars says Arno Bologna, chief branding officer Renault.
05:48The visitor experience is simply breathtaking.
05:53Thousands of objects, hundreds of works of art and, above all,
05:56a truly unique exhibition of legendary cars, arranged like jewels on pallets in the room.
06:03A spectacular exhibition worthy of the incredible story we want to share.
06:10Renault's heritage is not just about cars.
06:12The company also owns a large number of objects that tell the story of the brand since 898.
06:20Among the thousands of documents and objects in the collection,
06:23which extends over more than 2,400 meters of shelving,
06:27are posters, design drawings, miniatures and toys,
06:30pedal cars, trophies and medals,
06:32as well as books that make up Renault's bibliography.
06:34At the new location, visitors will be able to discover the full wealth of these archives.
06:44They are invaluable for understanding the history of the brand and its creations.
06:51In addition, the public will also have access to an automotive treasure trove comprising several hundred vehicles in perfect condition.
06:58Carefully preserved and restored,
07:06they span the entire history of Renault,
07:08from the first car built by Louis Renault in 898,
07:11the Type A, to pre-war models,
07:13Formula One racing cars,
07:15legendary Alpens and visionary concept cars.
07:20It is remarkable that more than half of the cars are still roadworthy,
07:24which speaks volumes about their meticulous preservation.
07:28Six skilled technicians have been working for many years to restore and maintain all the vehicles in the Renault collection,
07:35allowing each model to tell its own unique story on the road.
07:42Building on this expertise,
07:44the new site will also house a restoration workshop for powertrains and bodywork.
07:50The diversity of the collection demonstrates the richness of Renault's heritage.
07:54A number of iconic and sometimes very rare objects will tell the story of automotive technology and design over the years.
08:03Other objects will evoke personal memories and emotions,
08:07such as a drive to the countryside in an R4 or a holiday in an R16.
08:10The vehicle collection is vibrant and will continue to grow over time,
08:20even if some changes are made, notably through the sale of duplicate models.
08:25To mark this, there will be an auction organized by Art Curiel on 6th and the 7th of December.
08:30Renault has been a pioneer in promoting contemporary design since the 1930s and owns several hundred works of art,
08:40which will also be on display.
08:44The unique art collection builds bridges between art and industry.
08:48An objective also supported by the Renault Fund for Arts and Culture, launched in June 2024.
08:58The fund's mission is to safeguard and protect the existing collection while supporting emerging contemporary artists,
09:04thus reaffirming the brand's role as a patron of the arts and a cultural player.
09:08A particular focus is placed on street art, which is closely linked to the world of Renault products.
09:22The Renault Fund's historical collection includes several hundred works,
09:25including photographs by Robert Derand, who maintained close ties with Renault throughout his career.
09:33In 1967 creation by Armand based on the Renault 4.
09:38An Aero series dedicated to the Renault 5, created by Victor Verily,
09:42and works inspired by Art Brut by John Dubuffet.
09:51The collection reflects Renault's long history of supporting artistic movements,
09:55including humanist photography, in particular that of Robert Doors,
09:58who was a permanent employee of the company between 1934 and 1939.
10:03New Realism, founded in 1960, was a movement whose adherents included Armand and Jean Tingley,
10:10sculptors who used everyday materials in their works.
10:17Narrative figuration, represented most notably by Aero,
10:20whose works mix images from pop culture and art history.
10:23OWA, a branch of geometric abstraction that creates the illusion of vibration or movement,
10:30represented most notably by Victor Vazarelli, who redesigned the Renault logo in 1972.
10:36Jean Dubuffet, painter, sculptor and inventor of Art Brut.
10:42Spontaneous and inventive creations by self-taught artists and outsiders.
10:46Today, the fund also supports contemporary urban art with works such as Borgian and the Crescent by Dan Rawings,
10:57created from a vintage Renault 5 and a new Renault 5 Ettec electric,
11:01and heritage by Cesar Malfi, created in 2024 at the refactory in Flint using a side panel from a scenic Ettec electric.
11:08The public will regularly have the opportunity to discover or rediscover these impressive works,
11:19which represent a dialogue between past and future, between art and industry.
11:27The following statement explains,
11:29Street art is a modern response to Renault's original artistic ambitions
11:33and its support for pop art and kinetic art in the 1960s,
11:36explains Catherine Gross, Vice President of Arts, Heritage and Patron of the Arts, Attentum.
11:45The street art movement brings art to the streets and makes it accessible to everyone.
11:51In this respect, too, it reflects the ambition of a car manufacturer whose products also live on the streets.
11:58The connection between our popular values and street art is important.
12:03The Renault site in Flint recently also became home to an art space called the Art Factory.
12:14The 3,200 square meter space of the former paint shop is now dedicated to the creation and exhibition of urban art,
12:21offering artists the opportunity to work in an environment that reflects the atmosphere of the street.
12:25Here, they have access to the industrial elements still present on the site,
12:33which they can use, repurpose or recycle in their works.
12:36The residencies offer an impeccable working environment where artists can express their creativity in a unique industrial setting.
12:49Some of the resulting works will become part of the exhibitions and collections in the new space dedicated to Renault's heritage and innovations.
12:58The selection of artists for future residencies is based on criteria defined in collaboration with the exhibition curators Gene Futcher and Gala.
13:09Several residencies will be organized each year over a period of approximately three years.
13:17The centerpiece of this exceptional creative space is a work by Gerard Lodakamian made from a 1937 Renault Bass entitled Ready-Made 1935-2025.
13:28Seven tons five, among the guest artists is Gene Futcher, who is already at the art factory and is working on a piece.
