The stars were out in force on Oct. 30 for the TIME100 Next gala at Manhattan’s Pier 59, celebrating leaders to watch in the health, climate, business, sports, entertainment sectors, and more.
On the red carpet, TIME100 Next honoree Meghann Fahy talked to TIME about the impact that actress Mariska Hargitay has left on her.
The comments come after Hargitay, star of the hit TV show 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' gushed over Fahy on Amy Poehler's podcast 'Good Hang,' saying that she knew Fahy would be a star early in her career.

00:00So recently, Mariska, Law & Order, she said she knew you were a star when she worked with you
00:06in that episode. And I just wanted to know, what did that feel like to hear? Because obviously
00:10she was right. But when you heard that, what did you think at the time when she said it to you?
00:14It's really crazy because she's such a hero of mine. And I grew up watching that show and loving
00:18her. And when I moved to New York in 2008, that was literally the only show I wanted to do.
00:22Like I used to make jokes about quitting after I did SVU, which I actually filmed just over here.
00:28I was just thinking about it when I pulled up. So to hear that from her was really, really,
00:34really special. But also the impact that she had on me back then and the time that she took
00:40with me to talk to me has stayed with me forever. I mean, I think about it all the time. I've taken
00:47that little moment with her everywhere I've gone in my career since then. So she's my girl.
