The 83rd annual Golden Globes took place Sunday night, kicking off the 2026 awards season in earnest. While comedian Nikki Glaser returned after a successful first year hosting, this year the Globes shook things up a bit. Not only did the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announce their picks for the best in television and film, but they added podcasting to the mix, acknowledging the major growth of that medium. They also handed out two big awards the night before the big show in a separate ceremony. During a new annual primetime special aptly named "Golden Eve," the HFPA honored Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker, with the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett awards, respectively.

00:00You guys are being so generous with this affection for me and this film, and I'll take it.
00:07I'll take it with the love that it's given and the appreciation.
00:11I love doing what I do, so this is just fun.
00:16We shoot our show in these long, continuous takes, and part of the reason I wanted to do that is
00:20it doesn't work unless the whole crew really comes together to make it work.
00:24And so I really want to thank our crew, most of whom don't get invited to this, but they should.
00:31And I don't know how to say all my gratitude for 54 years in 60 seconds.
00:35I'm indebted to so many people.
00:37I've been inspired by so many people, many of whom I've got the great honor of being nominated with this evening.
00:44So a shout out to my fellow nominees.
00:45This is exactly how I pictured it, Snoop giving me the award.
00:50Thank you so much.
00:51Wow.
00:52Wow.
00:52Wow.
00:53I don't know about award shows, but when they get it right, it makes sense.
01:00When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fill one dream to become a K-pop idol.
01:10And I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn't good enough.
01:16And so I leaned on songs and music to get through it.
01:23So now I'm here as a singer and a songwriter.
01:27If you would have told me when I was 19 years old, I'd be thanking Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank.
01:34All right, you're laughing, so I got away with that.
01:38Thank you, Kevin.
01:40I would have been stunned, but I've been very grateful.
01:42My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up.
01:45Always be grateful for what you have.
01:47It's allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here.
01:51But I'd be lying if I didn't say those moments didn't make this moment that much sweeter.
01:55For my parents, for my partner, I love you.
01:57Thank you so much.
