00:20Guten Morgen.
01:36Yes, I remember the first time you talked to me about this engine, I think we were on a cell phone and I asked you to repeat again, because I misunderstood what you were saying, but actually, yeah, it became true.
01:49V16, natural aspirated, is probably the biggest engine ever. What do you think?
01:55I thought I would have never had the opportunity to work on such an engine for the rest of my life, especially considering where all the other automotive industries are going.
02:07So, yeah, it's a very emotional engine. We just hit the first milestone with the engine performances. I think we're in a good shape now.
02:14Also, what amazes me is the size, the length of the engine, no? It's probably one meter long. So I can imagine the crankshaft inside are huge, really unique characteristic, isn't it?
02:30Absolutely true, especially if you consider that on top of the engine there will be a transmission, which is going to be a longitudinal transmission.
02:37So the length of the whole rotor, engine plus transmission is going to be something which is essentially never been done in the automotive industry.
02:47So the next step will be to not just make the single testing of the single components of the engine, in this case, here in Cosworth and the transmission in the other facility.
02:59But the real challenge will be to merge them together and ensure that the system is working properly when connected.
03:07The key point was to integrate an internal combustion engine with this specification into a hybrid strategy, into a hybrid compound.
03:17So the naturally aspirated solution is really helping a lot in terms of emotions and feeling from the customer, the drivability aspect, the engine sound, and compensate for the lack and the absence of a turbocharger with the electrical contribution.
03:33So I think that the powertrain layout, which has been designed nearly two years ago, is one of the key elements of this powertrain.
03:43So a naturally aspirated engine inside a hybrid compound.
03:50Marco, the plenum, I think we have done, I don't know how many versions of this plenum.
03:56This is because, I guess, it was really trying to find the right balance between the performance of a plenum, which in a combustion, a naturally aspirated engine is fundamental for generating the power, the torque is needed, and the aesthetics, because we'll be having the plenum completely exposed already from outside.
04:18So it will be visible always, no?
04:19Yes, you're right.
04:20Yes, you're right.
04:21We did a lot of iteration in the design of the system.
04:24And yes, you're fully right that the intake manifold and the plenum is basically the key element to guarantee the performances of a naturally aspirated internal combustion engine.
04:33So we did quite a lot of iteration between, let's say, requirements for performance and design, and requirements for aesthetic reasons with the design team.
04:45And this was the outcome, and I think it can speak by itself.
04:52It's really about all the experience, the emotions that this powertrain is going to deliver.
04:58There is anything around, there won't be anything around, with the natural aspirated V16, which is going to have this unique sound.
05:09Combined with this electric powertrain that would give a beautiful throttle response, it's very engaging.
05:16This is more, let's say, soft, not to say hard numbers.
05:20It would make the experience really, again, incomparable.
05:23This is going to be the only car in the world with a V16 engine.
05:27Bugatti is all about elegance and all about bravery.
05:29It's doing something that's never been done before, and doing it in a beautiful fashion.
05:33a beautiful fashion.
05:40.
05:45.
05:50.
05:53.
05:57.
05:58.
05:59.
06:00.
06:00.
