00:00Hi, good afternoon everyone. Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. On behalf of YTL and our
00:06partners at Bloomberg, it's my great pleasure to welcome you today to this hosted lunch and to
00:11hear this vital conversation on navigating ASEAN's AI future with sovereignty and culture.
00:18We meet at a defining moment. Around the world, artificial intelligence is transforming economies,
00:24societies and geopolitics. But for ASEAN, a region as diverse as it is dynamic, the challenge is not
00:32simply how fast we can adopt AI, but how wisely we shape it to reflect our values, our languages
00:39and our way of life. Because AI is no longer just a technology, it's fast becoming the foundational
00:46infrastructure of this century. As essential to our nation as power grids and transportation networks
00:53were to the previous generation. The choices we make today about data, infrastructure and governance
00:59will decide whether we are consumers of people's technology or creators of sovereign intelligence.
01:06At YTL, we believe that true progress must serve people, not the other way around. From building
01:13power stations to broadband networks to sustainable cities, our mission has always been to connect
01:18innovation with purpose. Today, that same philosophy drives our commitment to building full-stack
01:24sovereign AI, as our strategy for fueling growth and resilience across the region.
01:31YTL has invested in the entire AI stack, from data centers powered by green energy, to AI cloud
01:37infrastructure in partnership with NVIDIA, using the latest GB200 chips, all the way to ILMO,
01:42our very own large language model. Malaysia's own large language model built specifically for our
01:48language that understands our culture and built by Malaysians for Malaysians. But it's not about
01:55competing against the global AI giants. I think we would lose. It's about building capability and
02:02capability for our own people. Just as you would never outsource your national power grid, we should not
02:08outsource the future of our country's intelligence, or our region's intelligence.
02:14What we are building is a blueprint. Hopefully, it's proof that ASEAN can own their own digital future,
02:21instead of being permanently dependent on systems built elsewhere.
02:25Today, I think we're really excited to hear a fantastic panel to explain to us what they see in three key
02:34pillars. Infrastructure and sovereignty, culture and identity, and finance and inclusion.
02:41All vital to ensuring that our AI future is not only innovative, but also independent, inclusive,
02:47and distinctly ASEAN. So as we share a meal and these ideas, let's also share common purpose.
02:54Let's imagine an AI future that is inspired by our people, by our stories, and by our values.
03:00I hope you guys have a good lunch, and you enjoy the panel. We'll leave it to them. Thank you guys.
