00:00Hello and welcome to the video from CarMagazine Tuning Blog about the new Honda GT, the latest electric Gran Turismo in the Y-Series, which will be launched in two versions exclusively for the Chinese market.
00:12Honda is showing the 5-door, coupe-style GT at the Auto Shanghai.
00:17Both as the GC Honda GT in bright red, and as the Dongfang Honda GT in bold blue.
00:23Both are intended to search and pursue its own philosophy.
00:26GC Honda is aimed more at technology fans, while Dongfang Honda opts for an emotional approach.
00:34Inside, both are absolutely identical, albeit with a polarizing effect.
00:40Six displays, including two camera monitors instead of traditional exterior mirrors, an upper instrument cluster, a vertical touchscreen next to the gearshift lever, and even a separate screen for the front passenger, dominate the red-black cockpit.
00:54At least Honda has given the controls a few real buttons.
00:59But critics are already calling the screen a nightmare, especially since the passenger monitor with its thick bezel looks like it came from a tablet from the early 2000s.
01:08Honda is still officially withholding technical data, but the Y models P7 and S7 that have been released so far provide a good indication.
01:20They are based on the N-Architecture platform, offer either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, and produce 268 horsepower in the single-motor version and 469 horsepower in the dual-motor version.
01:32Energy is supplied by an 89.8 kWh battery from CATL, good for up to 650 km according to the optimistic Chinese CTC cycle in the rear-wheel drive model or 620 km in the all-wheel drive model.
01:50Similar or slightly improved technology is to be expected for the GT, especially since Honda and CATL are already working on a cell-to-body platform and plan to switch to an LFP battery in the third Y series.
02:04In keeping with its China strategy, Honda is also relying on local software partners.
02:11The assistance systems are from Momentum and Navigate without high-resolution maps thanks to artificial intelligence, while Deep's AI is also scheduled to be introduced as an overthrow update on the P7 and S7 models later this year.
02:25On the outside, the GC and Dongfang versions shared two-tone paint schemes.
02:29New Honda emblems without the usual rectangle, and largely identical body panels.
02:36Differences are evident in the bumpers, headlights, and taillights.
02:40This clearly sets the GT apart from Honda's global design and brings a fresh lease of life to the still-young-ja family.
02:47That's assuming you can get used to the digitally overflowing cabin, of course.
02:51As always, you'll find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
