00:03Today we're talking about the exciting return of the Volvo XC70 as a hybrid SUV.
00:09Volvo is launching a new model in the next few months,
00:12initially intended exclusively for the Chinese market.
00:16The new XC70 is a plug-in hybrid and is part of the current development of so-called range extenders,
00:23which are currently in particularly high demand in China.
00:26Following the luxury M90 and the revised S90,
00:31it joins the line of Chinese-made Volvos sold exclusively in Asia.
00:36The name XC70 is nothing new to Volvo.
00:41It was first used in 2003 for an off-road station wagon based on the V70.
00:46The new SUV edition is now based on a new platform called Scalable Modular Architecture, or SMA for short.
00:54Technically, the new XC70 bridges the gap between a traditional combustion engine and a poorly electric car.
01:02With a poorly electric range of up to 200 kilometers,
01:05the vehicle offers significantly more than conventional plug-in hybrids.
01:10The additional combustion engine ensures range flexibility, especially on longer journeys.
01:16Visually, the new model is based on the all-electric Volvo EX90.
01:22A largely closed front with a centrally positioned brand logo and narrow headlights with the typical daytime light signature dominate the design.
01:31A clearly visible cooling air duct in the lower section of the bumper indicates the installed gasoline engine.
01:41While there is currently no official information on interior details or exact dimensions,
01:46the XC70 is expected to be larger than the XC60.
01:49For the European market, the revised XC90 will continue to play the role of the top-of-the-line combustion engine model as a mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid.
02:00The premiere of the new Volvo XC70 is expected in the coming months,
02:06with a subsequent market launch, but exclusively in China, the home market of Volvo's parent company.
