00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today it's all about the Genesis X Grand Equator Concept Vehicle,
00:07which is currently causing a stir at the New York Auto Show.
00:11This extravagant vehicle lies somewhere between an SUV and a station wagon
00:16and represents a radical departure from the brand's previous design studies.
00:21Even though Genesis hasn't explicitly mentioned that the XG Equator is an electric vehicle,
00:27several details suggest this.
00:30A completely enclosed underbody and the lack of an exhaust strongly indicate
00:35that there is no combustion engine under the long hood.
00:39Thus, Genesis seems to be positioning itself with this luxurious off-roader
00:44against models such as the electric Mercedes G or the Rivian R1S.
00:50Visually, the whole thing is reminiscent of a modernized version of the Audi Steppenwolf
00:55concept from around 25 years ago.
00:57Particularly striking is the split tailgate, a feature that is now relatively rare
01:02but nevertheless promises practical use.
01:06Compared to last year's Neel in concept, which hinted at the upcoming GV90,
01:11the XG Equator presents itself as significantly more robust and distinctive.
01:15The brand's typical two-line lighting design runs conspicuously across the entire width of the front fenders.
01:24The gigantic 24-inch beadlock wheels also demonstrate that this is a concept car with eccentricity at its core.
01:31The designers know that in the event of series production, smaller, more off-road-capable wheels would be used.
01:40The elaborately designed rims are also reflected in the design of the roof rack.
01:44Stylish, but likely expensive to maintain.
01:49Instead of a continuous panoramic roof,
01:51Genesis opts for four individually glazed roof segments, vaguely reminiscent of the system in the Ineos Grenady.
01:59While the front doors have extendable handles,
02:02access to the rear doors is apparently controlled by an inconspicuous button on the C-pillars.
02:07Inside, Genesis demonstrates that luxury can work without oversized touchscreens.
02:16Instead of a giant central display,
02:18there are four digital displays in the middle of the dashboard and three smaller,
02:22round displays directly in front of the driver, forming a classic instrument cluster.
02:28The center console remains uncluttered and contains only a handful of physical buttons,
02:33including one for the off-road mode.
02:35Also striking are the large center consoles between the four individual seats,
02:41which feature integrated grab handles.
02:44Another feature is found on the B-pillars and on the passenger side.
02:49Instead of a traditional glove compartment, there are two separate compartments with leather straps.
02:54The door handles are comparatively low-lying.
02:58Other interesting elements include the rotating front seats and
03:01a rotary control for the off-road modes on the steering wheel.
03:05There are switches on the roof whose function is unclear.
03:09They may be used to open the four glass roof segments or control sun visors.
03:15Unlike many previous Genesis concept vehicles,
03:18the interior of the X-Grand Equator appears more restrained overall.
03:23A possible indication that a production version is actually being considered.
03:27While this has not been officially confirmed, individual design elements such as the split
03:33tailgate or the roof racks could well find their way into future production models.
03:40As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
