00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog, today we're talking about the Sherry Tigam CDM, a compact SUV from China that's attracting attention, among other things, because of its similarity to Land Rover models.
00:15No coincidence, after all, the Tiggo 7 CDM was developed under the direction of former Land Rover designer Steve. It combines European-influenced design with Chinese engineering.
00:27The Tiggo 7 CDM is based on the same platform as the Tansir Note and is available with both a conventional combustion engine and as a plug-in hybrid.
00:38Technically, Sherry relies on weight efficiency and an adaptive chassis. In China, the price for the vehicle starts at around €4,700.
00:47The exterior displays an advanced design language with a drag coefficient of 0.33d achieved by an active radiator grille system with 30 adjustment positions and aerodynamically optimized underbody panels.
01:02These cover 85% of the vehicle's underbody and, above all, improve airflow in the area of the rear axle.
01:11At the front, a functional relationship between the air intake and lighting design creates a harmonious overall appearance.
01:18At the rear, 128 individual reflectors are integrated into the LED taillights, ensuring uniform illumination that complies with ECER48 standards.
01:28The interior is dominated by soft TPO surfaces, covering 68% of the visible surface, while the remaining components are made of textured, recycled polypropylene.
01:39The digital cockpit features a 12.3-inch display and a 40.8-inch vertical touchscreen, controlled by the Sherry Lawn 5.0 system.
01:52The seats feature a 7-zone construction made of two different densities of polyurethane foam, and higher-end versions offer 10-way electric adjustment.
02:01The vehicle features 18 storage compartments with a total volume of 28.7 liters, including a 5.2-liter compartment in the center console with a cooling function.
02:15The rear seat can be folded down in a 60-40-ish ratio.
02:19It can be tilted by 12 degrees, allowing for a trunk volume of 570 to approximately 1500 liters with a loading sill height of 72 centimeters.
02:28Propulsion is provided by a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 290 newton-meters of torque, coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
02:39In sport mode, the vehicle changes gears in 280 milliseconds, while smooth acceleration is paramount in city traffic.
02:48The suspension setup impresses with frequency-selective dampers that effectively absorb bumps while still ensuring stable road-holding.
02:56The body remains composed even over larger bumps.
03:01The steering offers three selectable levels of assistance with progressive resistance, although the feedback lags somewhat behind sportier competitors.
03:09The available all-wheel drive system responds quickly.
03:15The rear axle is activated within 120 milliseconds when slippage is detected.
03:20In normal operation, however, the Tego 7 CDM drives with front-wheel drive to remain efficient.
03:27Braking performance is solid at around 38 meters from 100 kilometers per hour, aided by ventilated brake discs.
03:34While the Tego 7 CDM can't compete with the best in its class in terms of driving dynamics, it offers an overall coherent package of comfort, efficiency, and solid handling.
03:46It's weaknesses include a suspension that's 3 dB louder than the competition, steering tuning that could be improved for city traffic, and a somewhat sluggish infotainment interface.
03:59Even though it's not a true Land Rover, it offers a remarkable overall package for its price and comes with a lifetime warranty in China.
