00:30You can find the link to read the full article in our magazine in the video description.
00:36Almost three years ago, Subaru announced that there would be no true STI version of the current WRX.
00:42No specific reasons were given at the time,
00:45but there were reports that stricter emissions regulations were thwarting the performance-oriented plans.
00:51Now, in early 2025, Subaru has changed its mind and is presenting the WRX STI S210 at the Tokyo Auto Salon,
01:01which is considered the ultimate in STI-complete vehicles.
01:03The S210 is based on the Japanese variant WRX S4 STI Sport R
01:10and features a revised 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine.
01:15This produces an impressive 300 H reports and delivers 375 Nm of torque.
01:20This surpasses the regular WRX offered in the USA by 25 atria and 26 Nm.
01:28However, the S210 falls short of the S209 introduced in the U.S. in 2019,
01:35which boasted 345 pp and 450 Nm of torque.
01:43Unlike the S209, which was equipped with a six-speed manual transmission,
01:47the S210 has to make do with the so-called Subaru Performance Transmission,
01:53a continuously variable automatic transmission that Subaru is trying to make more interesting with marketing terms.
01:58The additional potential of the S2010 results from an improved exhaust system,
02:04modified intake manifolds, and optimized control electronics.
02:10The boxer engine develops its maximum power at 5,700 rpm,
02:15while maximum torque is available from 2,000 rpm.
02:21The chassis has also been refined.
02:23The S210 sits on 19-inch BBS forged wheels with 255-millimeter Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
02:33The brakes are from Brembo, the shock absorbers are electronically controlled,
02:38and Subaru has integrated a special coolant for the Performance Transmission oil cooling.
02:43Visually, the S210 stands out clearly from the regular WRX,
02:47with an aerodynamic body kit, a rear spoiler made of carbon fiber and black accents.
02:53Inside eight-way adjustable Rikaro sports seats with a carbon structure,
02:58red seat belts and numerous piano lacquer surfaces await.
03:03A serial number plaque reminds us that this is a limited-edition vehicle.
03:08Subaru plans to produce only 500 examples,
03:11and orders are expected to open in the spring.
03:14The price has not yet been announced,
03:16but given the extensive upgrades and the rarity of the model,
03:21it is sure to be high.
