00:302-1-Number, welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine tuning blog on the topic of the BMW M3 CS Touring.
01:00As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
01:28Fans of high-performance station wagons can rejoice, because the new BMW M3 CS Touring is here and comes with some exciting innovations.
01:37After more than 35 years of waiting, fans finally get a model that is faster, sharper and lighter.
01:44The long wait was worth it, because BMW is experiencing high demand for the high-performance family station wagon.
01:50The hunger for power and space seems to be so great that BMW is now even releasing a performance version of the performance version.
01:59Say hello to the first M3 CS Touring.
02:02The two fast letters CS have already characterized the M2, the M3 sedan, the M4 and the M5.
02:10Now, for the first time, a Touring can enjoy more power, an optimized chassis, improved aerodynamics and slightly less weight.
02:18Following the latest facelift, the S583L turbo inline six-cylinder engine already produces 530 horsepower in the M3 Touring.
02:27In the ARM M3 CS Touring, an increase in maximum boost pressure to 2.1 bars and modified engine electronics boosts the output to 550 horsepower at 6,250 revolutions per minute.
02:40The maximum torque remains constant at 650 Nm and is available between 2750 and 5950 revolutions per minute.
02:52Particularly interesting are the acceleration figures from 0 to 100 km per hour in 3.5 seconds.
02:59That is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard M3 Touring.
03:03The difference becomes even more noticeable in the 0 to 200 km per hour time.
03:08Here, the M3 CS Touring already beats its weaker model brother by 0.7 seconds.
03:17The top speed is 300 km per hour, 20 km per hour higher than the conventional M3 Touring, even with the optional M Drivers package.
03:28How much the weight reduction actually contributes to the performance here remains to be seen.
03:33As is already known from previous CS models, the considerable use of carbon fiber also leads to comparatively manageable savings here.
03:44In the M3 CS Touring, the bonnet, the noticeably more aggressive front splitter, the front air intakes, the exterior mirror caps and the rear diffuser are made of CFRP.
03:53In the cockpit, specially designed carbon bucket seats, shift paddles on the steering wheel, interior trim and a new carbon center console contribute to the weight reduction.
04:07Overall, the CS loses 15 kg compared to the standard model and weighs 1920 kg including the driver.
04:15So it remains a heavyweight, even if it will certainly once again conceal this excellently.
04:22The optional precision strut in the engine compartment should also contribute to improving the body rigidity.
04:29Other measures to improve driving dynamics include specially tuned adaptive dampers, optimized steering and a revised brake system.
04:37The engineers have also refined the stability program and the Minamic mode.
04:46The M3 CS Touring comes standard with specially designed spoke wheels in 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.
04:54Available in gold bronze or matte black.
04:58The tires have dimensions of 2x35 Z19 at the front and 285 ZR20 at the rear.
05:04Those who want even more grip can opt for sports tires at no extra charge.
05:10Those who like it even more extreme and are prepared to invest extra can also upgrade to ultra racing tires.
05:17Presumably the Michelin Cup 2R.
05:21Unsurprisingly, the M-specific all-wheel drive remains, which offers both a 4WD sports mode and a 2D mode,
05:27as well as the familiar ZF8 speed automatic transmission and the electronic limited slip differential on the rear axle.
05:34From the outside, the M3 CS Touring can be recognized by the aforementioned carbon elements of the red-framed CS Kidney Grill,
05:43a DAX spoiler also framed in red, and the yellow illuminated LED headlights in a racing look.
05:49The color palette is also causing a stir.
05:52The choices include British Racing Green, the legendary Laguna Sica Blue, Frozen Solid White and Sapphire Black.
06:01Inside, CS customers can expect a black and red color scheme that extends from the bucket seats to the rear bench.
06:09The interior is complemented by a flattened Alcantara steering wheel with a red 12 o'clock marking and several CS logos.
06:15The trunk remains unchanged at 500-1510L.
06:22It remains to be seen whether BMW is aiming for a North-Selief record for station wagons.
06:28The current best value for a Touring comes from the standard M3 Touring,
06:32which achieved a time of 734.39 minutes in the Sport Auto Supertest.
06:37A new record for the CS could be announced in the coming weeks.
06:43The new M3 CS Touring starts at âŹ152,900 and is therefore âŹ1,600 more than the standard M3 Touring.
06:53However, it already comes with many of the expensive performance features as standard.
06:57After all, it is still âŹ7,100 cheaper than the M4 CS CoupĂ©.
07:03The market launch will take place in March 2025.
07:07BMW speaks of a limited edition, but does not specify a specific number of units.

09:27The design of the BMW M3 CS Touring stands out clearly from the very first moment and this is due, among other things, to the extensive use of carbon fiber.
09:41Starting with the bonnet to the splitter, the side blades and the side air intakes and this is not just a question of looks, but also a question of performance.
09:49Less weight, a lower center of gravity and improved aerodynamics ensure greater stability at extremely high speeds.
10:02Also striking are the yellow icons in the LED headlights, which originate from motorsport, and the typical CS grille with the M3 CS logo outlined in red, to make it clear that this vehicle is now also part of the competition sports division.
10:19Four highlights stand out on the side, the carbon exterior mirrors, the red-rimmed M3 logo, the matte gold wheel in the so-called 827M design, a forged lightweight wheel and, behind it, a carbon ceramic brake disc.
10:38And the wheel with the brake disc not only testify to the racing-oriented approach of this vehicle, but also lead to reduced unsprung masses and thus even more precise handling.
10:52And now there is only one thing left, the best side of the car, the underbody.
10:56There are also four highlights on the underbody.
11:12First, the GNY hack spoiler with the red spoiler lip, the M3 CS logo outlined in red, the CFRP diffuser insert at the bottom with the 4M typical tailpipes as part of a titanium rear silencer.
11:26The interior also clearly focuses on performance and comfort.
11:45The macarbon bucket seats in bicolor offer significantly better support for sporty driving as well as comfort functions such as electric adjustment and heating.
11:53The interior is clearly structured.
11:59The carbon fiber center console, the driver-centric displays and the M-Alcantara steering wheel create an intuitive space in which everything is exactly where you need it.
12:12And every detail, from the M-specific displays to the seams on the seats, serves to reinforce the feeling of connection to the vehicle and that is what you see.
12:23But the magic often lies in what you don't see.
12:25And who could explain that better than Dirk, our technical director at MGMBH?
12:29Hello, hi, I've already talked a little bit about the M3 CS Touring in terms of visible technology, but I think you can explain quite well what the invisible technology of the M3 CS Touring is all about and what makes it special.
12:48Right at the beginning of the M3 CS Touring, we noticed that there was a lot more to the car, which could be used even more effectively on the racetrack.
12:58Of course, we put a lot of thought into it, and let's take a look under the hood together to see what technical changes we've made.
13:04When it comes to the racetrack, it's also about performance.
13:11That means the first thing we did was increase the engine's power output.
13:17We also made the engine more rigidly connected to the chassis, and of course combine all of this with a special setup for the MX3 all-wheel drive.
13:26And then of course there's the carbon monosulfide-specific driving dynamics package.
13:32Exactly, and that's made up of hardware components, but of course also corresponding software parameters.
13:39Let's start with the hardware.
13:40You can see at first glance that we've installed a different type of precision strut.
13:45It's lighter and at the same time stiffer.
13:47Of course, we've made some changes to the springs and damping.
13:50We have stiffer suspension springs and, in combination with the standard track tires, we've managed to raise the car to a completely new level of performance.
14:00And for those who want even more grip, there's the optional ultra-track tire, right?
14:05That takes it to another level.
14:07Yes, that's right.
14:08We've noticed that even with this package, the car hasn't reached its limits.
14:12It can do even more, and that's why we've also used the tires that we developed together with the supplier for the M4 CSL as an option in the car.
14:22That means that with an even higher level of grip in the longitudinal and lateral directions, it's also possible to ultimately raise this car to a very special new level for a touring car in combination with the M3 CS Touring.
14:34And despite all these improvements, the M3 CS Touring is lighter than the M3 Touring competition.
14:42Yes, of course we are particularly pleased about that, as the message is extremely high performance on the racetrack while at the same time being lighter.
14:48I think that is an extremely good message, which of course also fits very well with this special model, the M3 CS Touring.
14:55But I think you actually have to drive the car in this sense of experience to find out what it is really like in action, but I'll leave that to you now.
15:05Thank you very much, I'm happy to do that.
15:16So, what you notice here in the M3 CS Touring is that the front axle develops more grip.
15:22This is of course partly due to the standard track tires or the optional ultra-trail tires, but also partly due to the higher camber on the front axle, which not only results in a higher overall level of grip, but also means that the front axle responds earlier.
15:38Conveys a very good feeling for the road surface, also for the coefficient of friction, for the surface and is always in a kind of balance with the driver and the route, the road conditions.
15:56This means that the car is significantly enhanced overall in terms of performance and corresponding possibilities.
16:10And you can feel that as soon as you drive off in the car.
16:15The car seems tighter, the car seems more spontaneous, the drive also seems more concise, more robust and you can experience that in the first few meters with the car as a clear differentiation from the basic M3 Touring.
