00:22An uncompromising powerhouse that not only impresses visually, but above all convinces with technical refinements and pure performance.
00:30After around two years of production of the current BMW M2 of the G87 generation, it is high time for an even sharper, more uncompromising top model, the new M2 CS, which already caused a sensation at the prestigious Villard Convention as a design study.
00:49Now BMW has finally released all the technical details and they clearly show that the new BMW M2 CS is the most powerful M2 ever.
00:57At the heart of this performance coupe is the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo engine with the factory S58 codename, familiar from the M3 and M4, which has been boosted to a whopping 530 horsepower in the M2 CS.
01:11This represents a performance boost over the standard M2 and puts it on a par with the all-wheel drive versions of the M3 and M4 competition in terms of performance.
01:22However, the M2 CS differs significantly in one respect, it remains a classic rear-wheel drive vehicle.
01:32The maximum torque is now an impressive 650 Nm and is transmitted to the rear wheels via a precisely tuned 8-speed M steeptonic transmission.
01:40The maximum speed is 7,200 revolutions per minute.
01:47This performance optimized engine management system makes this possible.
01:51But the drivetrain also boasts state-of-the-art technology, two Moncrol turbochargers, Vatronic, Double Venus, Intercooler, optimized engine mounting and a specific cooling system including improved oil supply.
02:07A flap exhaust system with four matte black tailpipes ensures a particularly powerful sound.
02:17An even lighter version with a titanium rear silencer and carbon tailpipe trims can be configured via MP parts.
02:25When it comes to performance, the M2 CS sets new standards.
02:28The compact sports car accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 3.8 seconds according to the classic measurement method.
02:39The so-called rollout method even delivers an even better value of 3.5 seconds.
02:45It accelerates from 0 to 200 km per hour in 11.7 seconds or 11.4 seconds with rollout.
02:52The top speed is an impressive 302 km per hour made possible by the standard M driver's package.
03:02The chassis has also been revised in line with the sporty ambitions.
03:07It sits 8 mm lower than in the production model and has been specially optimized for use on the racetrack in terms of suspension, damping and control systems.
03:16The M Sport differential, steering and adaptive chassis offer numerous adjustment options for individually tuning the M2 CS.
03:27Digital tools such as M Drive Professional, the M Lab Timer and the M Drift Analyzer are also on board, acting as virtual driving instructors.
03:35The brake system consists of a compound system with red painted calipers as standard, but can be replaced with an even more powerful carbon ceramic version at an additional cost.
03:48The matte gold bronze forged wheels measure 48.3 cm in diameter at the front and 50.8 cm at the rear.
03:55The tires, depending on the desired sport, track or ultra version, are fitted in size 275 35ths at the front and 235 at the rear.
04:06Visually, the new BMW M2 CS underscores its exclusivity with targeted lightweight construction.
04:12The roof and boot lid are made of carbon, as are the exterior mirror caps and rear diffuser.
04:18The front splitter and kidney grille are painted black, which, together with the red M2 CS lettering at the rear,

04:27The overall length is around 4.6 m, the width is around 1.9 m and the height is around 1 m.
04:34The massive rear wheel arches and the pronounced side skirts emphasize the width and muscular power of the vehicle.
04:41The M2 CS is available in four paint finishes, sapphire black metallic, BMW individual velvet blue metallic,
04:49M Brooklyn grow metallic and Mortimau blue metallic.
04:51Adaptive LED headlights with glare-free high-beam function and dark inserts are fitted as standard.
04:59In the interior, BMW also relies on consistent lightweight construction and high-quality materials.
05:06The center console is made entirely of carbon, as are the backs of the electric sport seats with merino leather.
05:13These seats are not only comfortable, but also functional for use on the racetrack,
05:17as they are prepared for the installation of multi-point seatbelts.
05:22A red 12 o'clock marking adorns the Alcantara-covered sports steering wheel,
05:27which also features M buttons for pre-configured driving modes.
05:32Additional setup functions can be called up via a dedicated button on the center console.
05:36The occupants are greeted by black door sills with CS model lettering and take their seats on sports seats with model-specific seatbelts.
05:47Red CS logos shine in the center console and on the door panels,
05:51while carbon trim elements and an anthracite-colored headliner round off the interior.
05:55The curved display combines two screens, a 31.2 cm driver display and a 37.8 cm touchscreen in the middle.
06:08Both offer M-specific displays and can be operated via the latest BMW Operating System 8.5.
06:15Despite all the sportiness, comfort is not neglected either.
06:18Standard equipment includes the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation system,
06:24head-up display including augmented view function, and connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
06:32A dual-zone air conditioning system, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel ensure a sense of well-being,
06:38as does the comfort access system and the soundscape of the Harman Kardon sound system.
06:42Like the other M2 models, the BMW M2 CS is manufactured in the Mexican Mountain Stan Lewis Proto-C.
06:52Production volume remains limited, although BMW has not yet announced a specific number.
06:57The most important sales markets are the United States, Germany and China.
07:02The market launch in Germany is expected in late summer.
