West Bridgewater Chief Timothy Nixon announced that two women were arrested by the West Bridgewater Police Department on Sunday after an incident involving assault and shoplifting at a local supermarket. OLIVIA L. BYRD, 37, of Quincy, and RAHJANE J. BYRD, 28, of Hyde Park, face charges of: Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon Assault and battery Shoplifting by asportation Disorderly conduct At around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a supermarket located at 352 West Center Street. Multiple 911 callers reported that two customers were physically fighting with store employees. According to investigators, an employee witnessed two women hiding expensive food items—including lobster meat, prime ribeye steaks, and truffle butter—inside a bag while shopping. The pair allegedly failed to pay for the items and were confronted by store staff. The women, later identified as Olivia and Rahjane Byrd, reportedly became combative, shouted obscenities, and assaulted two employees before being taken into custody without further incident. Both suspects were arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court and released on personal recognizance. All charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
