00:09Today we're all about a truly extraordinary vehicle, the Toyota Runner TR Surf Concept.
00:15A model that will make retro fans' hearts beat faster.

00:22At first glance, this concept car looks like a new ViRunner with a fancy paint job and lots of TRD tuning parts.
00:32But a closer look reveals a few surprising details that are reminiscent of the first generation of the FerRunner from the 80s.
00:40A real eye-catcher is that this FerRunner is designed as a two-seater and convertible.
00:46Exactly. Toyota has given the vehicle a removable roof section, which can be completely removed just like on the models from 1984 to 1989.
00:57Underneath the removable roof is a sturdy roll bar that protects the rear occupants and also gives the vehicle structural strength.
01:08What's particularly ingenious is that the rear windows are still fully functional, including the practical sliding window in the trunk lid.
01:16This lid functions like a classic loading area here, rather than a tailgate, which lends the concept a fresh, practical touch.
01:26The rear seats can only be reached by folding down the front passenger seat.
01:31A real retro move.
01:34Incidentally, the roof itself is attached to the body with recessed quick-release fasteners, similar to those used in motor racing.
01:41This construction ensures that the roof sits rock-solid even when driving.
01:46The interior has been specially adapted to the open-air feeling.
01:51The seat and floor coverings are made of waterproof materials.
01:55And even the floor mats have a surfer look with a wood look.
01:58This design idea extends into the trunk and is complemented by turquoise accents that give the entire interior a fresh, maritime touch.
02:10Toyota has even gone one step further with a pair of custom-made Russell surfboards, which are decorated with blue TH stripes.
02:18These boards can be transported on the roof rack or can protrude from the loading area when the roof is open.
02:27Toyota has also made some technical improvements.
02:30The FarRunner TRD surf concept is based on the 2025 FarRunner TR Limited and is equipped with a set of TD Pro, Billy aluminum control arms front and rear, as well as a custom panhard rod.
02:43Interestingly, the rear axle housing is taken from the Toyota Tundra, but modified to fit the new FarRunner.
02:51The steering columns and front axles have also been beefed up to handle the extra torque from the impressive 33-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain TR-KO 3 tires.
03:03These sit on custom 17-inch M-SARD beat-lock wheels, which are framed by wider fender flares and, despite their rugged design, match the Fear Runner's factory look.
03:16The vehicle is powered by a 2.4-liter E4-side turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 278 horsepower and over 430 newton-meters of torque.
03:27Added to this is a custom exhaust system that gives the surf concept a rich sound.
03:34Power is sent to all four wheels via Toyota's UA80 8-speed automatic transmission with electronic all-wheel drive and a 2-speed transfer case that can be shifted at the touch of a button.

03:58Toyota's booth will be located in the Central Hall again, just like last year.
