00:13The Toyota Landcruiser Prado is rarely seen on the roads in Germany,
00:17but this light-duty Landcruiser has earned a special place in the hearts of die-hard
00:21off-road vehicle enthusiasts. For decades, the Prado has stood for a combination of robust
00:29off-road capabilities and comfortable SUV amenities. On August 2, 2023, Toyota celebrated the world
00:38premiere of the Prado 250 and presented an exciting further development of this classic.
00:45As part of the legendary Landcruiser family, the Prado looks back on a history spanning over 70
00:50years and is now part of the range of modern off-road vehicles that manage to strike a balance
00:55between tradition and progress. The new Prado immediately impresses visually with its angular
01:01shape, short overhangs and clean lines in the cockpit, which clearly showcase its off-road genes.
01:09It comes standard with permanent all-wheel drive, a low range gear ratio and a rear axle lock with
01:14real off-road features that will delight adventure seekers. A new feature of this model is a decouplable
01:22front stabilizer bar, which can be activated from the cockpit at the touch of a button to enable
01:27improved articulation off-road. This means that the new Prado can even keep up with the new Ford
01:33Bronco in this area. The new Landcruiser Prado also has no shortage of modern assistance systems.
01:40Toyota has bundled them together under the name TeamMate. Thanks to this technology, the Prado
01:46recognizes typical accident scenarios and can support the driver with automated braking and steering
01:51interventions. For the first time, there is also electric power steering on board, which ensures
01:57smoother and more precise steering and is combined with a lane-keeping assistant.
02:04Another practical innovation for off-road driving is a high-resolution camera that gives the driver
02:08a precise view of the immediate surroundings and the ground. As is typical for a Landcruiser,
02:15the new Prado also has an impressive towing capacity of 3,500 kg.
02:22The European model is powered by a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 204 horsepower
02:28and is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
02:33Toyota is also planning a hybrid version, which will be the only engine variant available
02:37in North America. This will make the Prado available to the American off-road vehicle
02:42community for the first time in years. Lovers of classic designs are in for a special treat,
02:49a limited first edition of the Prado in a nostalgic look with round headlights.
02:58This edition will be available for pre-order in Europe from October 2023,
03:02and the first deliveries are planned for the first half of 2024. Anyone who wants to see the new Prado
