00:07but maybe someone else is planning to do what I'm planning to do.
00:11The thing is, I installed these sill skirts.
00:15It's the G30, G31,
00:17and this is already the third vehicle I've done this on.
00:22I previously had the Alpina, the B5,
00:25and then the M550 before that,
00:27and I followed the instructions exactly twice,
00:29but this time I did it differently.
00:36I've had the cars for two years now
00:38and noticed that there are these rivets on them,
00:40which look like this with these little grooves.
00:44I don't know if you can see them here.
00:48Well, not really.
00:50Yes, they're in the uppermost area, they're grooved, right?
00:54Now you can see them exactly like that.
00:57This is where the fun comes in, right?
00:59You put them together like this, and the grooves keep them firmly in place.
01:05But I've found that in some places it doesn't really work.
01:10Just take a look at it.
01:12It mostly fits, but to my eyes it's still not 100%, but I don't think you can do it any better.
01:21You have to remember that you have a 2 meters plastic part and you're attaching it over this entire length here.
01:27And I've noticed that with the screws, it just doesn't get that tight.
01:33It hangs down, especially in this area, about 1 to 2 millimeters further down.
01:38Then it's tight again at the back.
01:40I also drilled the holes small.
01:42I followed the instructions exactly.
01:44In my opinion, the screws just don't hold.
01:47And I would simply recommend that you drill the holes, which you provided here, right?
01:53These things are predefined, that's how it should be, that's quite clear.
01:57But where's the fun in that?
02:01Here.
02:02So, I made it really simple, using drywall screws.
02:07Also, it would be best if you get some stainless steel, they should also be available in black.
02:11Um, I'll do it like this, I'll put underbody protection on it, also over the screw heads.
02:16And these are proper screws, because you can get in there with a bit.
02:21And the fun thing that came with it, these are these little screws, they're much shorter,
02:26they have a tiny Phillips head up there.
02:29I don't know, I kind of round off every bit with the fun thing and in my opinion they're
02:34just too short.
02:36They're actually intended to be inserted into these pre-made holes from behind.
02:42But I think you should do it all with screws, because I don't know what's wrong with that.
02:48If there's anything wrong with that, then you'll definitely tell me.
02:53It doesn't necessarily look great, but it doesn't necessarily look any different with
02:58rivets.
02:59And what I'm looking for is that it should be really solid, like that.
03:02And um, as I said, I'm going to put a thick layer of underbody protection over it.
03:06Unless the car has an accident, I assume that the fun doesn't have to go away.
03:10So, normally they are screwed on from the back here.
03:13I hope you can see that now.
03:15Of course, it all looks a bit Russian, but the screws are simply much, much tighter.
03:21So, here was the problem, and that's this one spot here.
03:26It doesn't necessarily look nice, but I was able to correct this slight sagging with two
03:31additional screws.
03:32So, that's just a plastic sill there.
03:35So it's not rocket science to make a few holes in there, of course they're permanent,
03:39that's clear.
03:40But it would be no different with the rivets.
03:43You drill them in and then put the things in.
03:46So it's all over, but in my opinion you should screw it all the way through.
03:51It's the better solution.
03:53It sits rock solid.
03:55In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with it.
03:57Maybe you can think of something wrong with it.
03:59It's too late for me by then, but I'd be happy if you could write about it in the comments.
04:05And yes, I'll show you a couple of steps on the other side anyway.
04:10How the whole thing works, what you should pay attention to.
04:13So, I started here at the back, and if we turn the sill over here, it has a little groove
04:21here.
04:26And it fits exactly in here at the back.
04:31And it fits in here at the back.
04:33That has the advantage that if the groove fits exactly, the sill also fits there at the back,
04:37then of course it will fit on the other side too.
04:39Yes, otherwise, always do it gradually when screwing.
04:42So don't fasten it at the back and then fasten it at the front, I wouldn't do that.
04:45Then you might have a problem in the middle, I don't know if it fits.
04:51Um, just screw it through here one after the other and always check.
04:54Try to push the sill a little bit to the outside so that it fits properly at the front.
04:58And yes, doesn't dip too far in the front.
05:00So, first and foremost, it cleans everything down here.
05:07It doesn't look like that from the outside, but I cleaned it down here with Spiritus so
05:13that it's as grease free as possible.
05:16And the reason for that is so that this three megabytes tape holds here.
05:24Although I don't really attribute any effect to it, but okay.
05:31Okay, so.
05:33Then I've drilled all the holes now.
05:35About three, four millimeters drill bits.
05:38Either depending on whether only the rivets come through or your drywall screws or whatever.
05:42Then there's another part here that I really can't identify.
05:50Well, in my opinion, it should definitely be somewhere like this.
05:53Either on the back part, but I drilled exactly into the specified hole.
05:58So it doesn't really work that way.
06:02Even behind it.
06:03Well, okay, it could work, but it doesn't really make sense.
06:06So, you could install it from the outside on the vehicle, I could imagine.
06:13But that wouldn't be enough either.
06:15Ah yes, as I said, the small clamp, since I do everything with screws anyway.
06:19I think we can't align it very well and it doesn't fit here either.
06:22Maybe I'm making a mistake.
06:24DM has posted a PDF online with exactly four pictures, if I'm right.
06:30One of them is before and after, so instructions for installation.
06:36Well, okay, difficult.
06:37Okay, so I'm not using the clamp.
06:39I didn't do that with the other two cars either.
06:41It's also lasted a good 100,000 kilometers.
06:44So, he definitely sticks the KBAN number on here, which is included.
06:49Okay.
06:51And then it's time to remove the strip, right?
06:54It's not rocket science.
06:57The fun is self-explanatory.
06:59What's also helpful is if you do the whole thing with two people, it doesn't work for me right now.
07:12So, as I said, don't expect a blockbuster here, because I'm alone, installing, holding the phone and so on and so forth.
07:18It's a bit tricky, but you can see the tab here and it has to go in there.
07:23And once you've done that, the rest of the way to the front will basically come together by itself.
07:33So, that's the area at the back that then simply seals perfectly.
07:38So, and then you start with that, tighten the screw and of course hold the sill, ideally with the second person, so that it doesn't sag, like it is with me now.
07:48Uh, I'll lift it up a bit with my foot.
07:51Yes, you should definitely do it with two people.
07:54So, in that area I have the, as I said, with this little metal clamp.
07:58I don't really get it, it probably works somehow, but you might not understand, but in my opinion it doesn't fit here.
08:04So, now you simply screw the rest of the way in from the back to the front and, as I said, always remember to try to pull it outwards a little bit.
08:10So, the same picture here, right? The screws are everywhere from below.
08:16As I said, whether it looks good or not is debatable, but it holds.
08:23And here too, there was a small dent in the door area, let's say, due to the length.
08:29I simply put in two more screws and now it actually looks quite smooth.
08:34If this helped you, then until the next video, leave a subscription. Bye.
