00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog about the new Mercedes CLA 2025 with combustion engines.
00:09While the electric versions are already attracting a lot of attention, there will also be petrol engines for the CLA from the end of the year.
00:17A quite remarkable step, because many manufacturers are increasingly saying goodbye to combustion engines.
00:23However, Mercedes is continuing to rely on a differentiated strategy and is offering the CLA as both an electric and a petrol model.
00:33The petrol engines will be available exclusively as a 1.5L four-cylinder with three different power levels, 136hp, 163hp and 190hp.
00:45Mercedes has not yet published official performance data, but these values have already leaked several times.
00:53The engines have a 48V milt hybrid system with a newly developed lithium-ion battery that can store up to 1.3kWh of energy.
01:04The integrated electric motor supports the combustion engine across the entire speed range, but ensures improved acceleration, especially at low speeds.
01:12It can also enable electric hosting up to a speed of around 100kmh, in which the drivetrain is decoupled from the engine in order to save energy.
01:27Regenerative braking is also possible in all eight gears, allowing up to 25kW of energy to be recovered.
01:32Mercedes promises high efficiency for the new petrol engines through the use of the Miller cycle, a combustion process with a high compression ratio of 121kWh.
01:43The engines start exclusively via the electric motor and a separating clutch, a classic pinion starter is no longer required.
01:50This should make the start-stop system smoother and the change between combustion and electric operation barely noticeable.
01:57A significant improvement over previous mild hybrid systems.
02:02Visually, the new CLA remains true to its electric brothers.
02:07Mercedes relies on a uniform design language, so that the combustion engine only differs in details such as the traditional radiator grille with LED surround.
02:16The dimensions have also grown slightly.
02:20The new CLA measures 4.7m in length, 1.85m in width and 1.47m in height.
02:27The wheelbase has been increased by 61mm, which should benefit passengers in the rear in particular.
02:34The interior features a modern cockpit, which comes as standard with a 10-inch instrument display, a 14-inch infotainment screen and a 14-inch passenger display.
02:45A large panoramic roof is also part of the standard equipment.
02:52The new Mercedes CLA can be ordered from May.
02:55The first deliveries are planned for the second half of the year.
02:58The petrol versions will follow at the end of 2025.
03:02As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
