02:26Welcome to the video from Auto Magazine Tuning Blog about the new Volvo VNR.
02:34Volvo Trucks North America has given the second generation of its regional haul truck a comprehensive overhaul.
02:39With up to 7.5% improvement in fuel efficiency, upgraded safety systems, and a tighter turning circle for urban use, the Volvo VNR presents itself as an optimized commercial vehicle for the modern transport sector.
02:56The comprehensive redesign covers around 90% of the previous version and was unveiled on March 10th at the annual conference of the American Trucking Association's Technology and Maintenance Council.
03:13One of the key advances is in the powertrain.
03:16The increase in efficiency of almost 30% is partly due to the introduction of the new D13 VGT diesel engine.
03:27The new VNR is offered with VGT engines that deliver an output of between 405 and 455 horsepower and a torque of between around 60 and around 2,500 newton meters.
03:38The previously installed DN11 and D13 engines offered between 325 and 500 horsepower.
03:47Volvo has also upgraded the safety system.
03:52The revised model features an advanced collision warning system, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking via the Volvo Active Driver system.
04:02Additional safety packages with Volvo Dynamic Steering are available as options, which include lane-keeping assistance and a blind-spot monitor.
04:14The new Volvo VNR will be available in various configurations as a 4x2, 6x2 or 6x4 tractor unit as well as a chassis with different body variants.
04:24Customers also have a choice of several cab sizes, including the VNR 300 Convertible Cabin, the VNR 440 with roof with a 107 cm sleeper cabin, the VR 640 mid-roof with a 157 cm sleeper cabin, especially for transporting bulk goods or use on flatbeds, and the VNR 60 with a 157 cm high roof sleeper cabin.
04:54The VNR is also available as a chassis truck in every cab size.
05:01For drivers who often travel in cold regions or stop frequently, a parking heater has been introduced, which heats the cab for up to 30 minutes without the engine running.
05:09According to VTN President Peter Vorhoef, Volvo Trucks is once again setting standards with the new VNR and offering a versatile solution that has been specifically developed for the requirements of regional and urban transport.
05:24Together with the flagship model VNR, the revised VNR will optimally meet the requirements of a wide range of fleets.
05:36Production of the new model takes place at the New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia, which has been extensively modernized for the introduction of the new VNR and the VNR truck.
05:45Orders will be available in the coming months.
05:52The VNR also adopts the 24-volt electrical architecture of the VNL to support technological advancements and integrate standardized systems across the group.
06:00The original VNR model was introduced in April 2017 and replaced the VNM, which had been in production since the 1990s.
06:12Just four years after its market launch, the VNR reached the 10 million customer miles mark.
06:18The battery electric version of the VNR was first commercially ordered in December 2020 and the fleet reached 8 million miles in October 2024.
06:31A fully electric VNL truck is expected to follow in late 2025 or early 2026.
