00:01Welcome to the video from the CarMagazine Tuning Blog.
00:05Today it's all about the new MPVs from Mercedes-Benz.
00:09Mercedes-Benz is currently testing its future vans under extreme conditions at the Arctic Circle.
00:15All of the newly developed models are based on the modular, flexible and scalable Mercedes-Benz van architecture.
00:22From 2026, the fully electric versions will be based on the van electric architecture van EA
00:29while the combustion engine models will follow the van combustion architecture.
00:33Van A now.
00:35Images have surfaced showing pre-series vehicles in camouflage during winter tests in Sweden.
00:41And we thought about what the finished vehicle might look like.
00:46The result is this rendering which we created based on the Alconic images.
00:51We'll know more soon.
00:53Let's see how close we were.
00:56According to Mercedes-Benz, the new vehicle architecture enables a clear distinction to be made
01:01between privately used luxury MPVs and commercial vans in the premium segment.
01:07The range of private models extends from high quality family vans to VIP shuttles
01:12and luxurious MPVs with particularly generous space.
01:17The extreme winter testing in our blog is designed to ensure that the vehicles function reliably
01:22even in the most adverse climatic conditions.
01:26Our future MPVs are ushering in a new era.
01:30We are taking advantage of all the opportunities offered by digitalization to achieve our ambitious development goals.
01:37Thanks to our Mission Control Center, we were able to optimize the data from the journeys in real time.
01:43This has enabled us to significantly shorten our testing timeline and make significant progress in terms of maturity
01:49in a very efficient manner, explains Andrea Sugarin, Head of Development at Mercedes-Benz Vans.
01:55A key objective of the tests was to analyze the vehicle's behavior on slippery roads.
02:01According to Mercedes-Benz, the grip on ice and snow is up to 90% lower than on dry asphalt,
02:07which has a significant impact on acceleration, braking, behavior, and steering.
02:13Innovative chassis systems are designed to noticeably improve the driving experience.
02:18The rear axle steering in particular helps to optimize, handling, and reduce the turning circle.
02:25The new electric van architecture also enables variants with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
02:31In terms of technology, all models are equipped with the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz operating system MBOS.
02:39An 800V system for direct-to-current charging, DC, ensures fast charging, while a 22kW AC charger is also installed.
02:49Another focus of the tests is on thermal management and interior comfort.
02:54The vehicles are cooled down in special cold chambers before driving to ensure that all systems function properly in extreme cold.
03:03The charging behavior and charging management are also optimized under these conditions.
03:09After half of the test period, Mercedes-Benz draws an initial positive conclusion.
03:14The vehicles pass all challenges with flying colors, even under extreme conditions.
