The social media ban for under-16s comes into effect in less than two months. And with those restrictions looming, some teenagers say losing access to social platforms means they also lose opportunities for entrepreneurship.

00:09in school. He says posting his work from the age of 12 helped him build an audience and
00:16portfolio. Record labels nowadays, they're not looking just for talent, they're looking
00:22for people who have some sort of success on social media. Although he's just scraped past
00:27the age limit for the ban, many of Asher's fans and peers will be affected. If they're
00:32not seeing my videos, that's the main way I'm advertising myself. It's definitely going
00:36to hurt who I can work with. Isabel Hedich uses social media to grow her dress hire business,
00:42which she started when she was 15 years old. In the last year, I know that 78% of my traffic
00:50to my website has come directly from Instagram. The 19 year old worries the social media ban
00:54will stifle other young entrepreneurs. The only other way I could think that you could
01:00start a business and grow your business without social media would be through having a website
01:04and using things such as Google marketing. But at 15 years old, there was no way I could
01:09afford that. Kobe Lee mentors teenagers through entrepreneur education programs. She says social
01:15media is crucial. I think there needs to be some sort of communication and also, you know,
01:22area to be safe within in order for them to explore this without being limited, putting
01:28their entrepreneurial skills to the test as the social media ban edges closer.
