00:00Hello, I am Irfan. You are watching my channel Global Insights, where you know world latest news and breaking news.
00:07Today, headlines are...
00:09Good evening. Sudan's military chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has announced the withdrawal of government troops from the city of Al-Fashir,
00:18saying the decision was made in response to what he described as the systematic destruction and killing of civilians.
00:25The United Nations says it has received credible reports of summary executions,
00:30while researchers at Yale University's humanitarian research lab have released satellite imagery showing what appear to be piles of bodies executed en masse.
00:41The Rapid Support Forces, RSF, accused of carrying out these killings, have denied targeting civilians or non-Arab ethnic groups,
00:50despite mounting evidence from the UN and international human rights organizations.
00:55The fall of Al-Fashir, the last major city under army control in Sudan's Darfur region,
01:01marks a potentially decisive turning point in the country's ongoing civil war.
01:07The conflict, which began in April 2023, has killed tens of thousands and displaced nearly 12 million people.
01:16Al-Fashir had been under siege by RSF fighters for 18 months, leaving hundreds of thousands of civilians trapped and facing severe hunger.
01:25Satellite images analyzed by Yale's Humanitarian Research Lab appear to show mass executions and sniper attacks on people trying to escape.
01:33The lab's executive director, Nathaniel Raymond, described the scale and speed of the killing as
01:40unlike anything I've ever seen in 25 years of doing this work.
01:44The United Nations humanitarian team in Sudan said it was horrified by reports of atrocities,
01:53including executions, sexual violence, and house-to-house raids.
01:57Meanwhile, the Joint Force, an alliance of Darfuri armed groups aligned with the army,
02:04claims that up to 2,000 civilians have been killed since the city fell,
02:08though this figure has not been independently verified.
02:12Residents who have managed to flee Al-Fashir told the BBC they are fearful and distressed,
02:17having lost contact with relatives still trapped inside.
02:20One survivor said several of his family members were massacred as they gathered together for safety,
02:27adding that communications have been cut since the RSF takeover.
02:31On Sunday, the World Health Organization reported an attack on the only functioning hospital in Al-Fashir,
02:38where a nurse was reportedly killed.
02:41International reaction has been swift.
02:45The European Union has called on all sides to de-escalate the conflict,
02:49while the African Union condemned alleged war crimes and ethnically targeted killings.
02:56The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, said he is gravely concerned by the situation,
03:03condemning the reported violations of international humanitarian law.
03:08In his national address on Monday, General Burhan criticized what he called
03:12the inaction of the international community in the face of RSF atrocities.
03:17He vowed that the army would continue to fight, saying,
03:22We can always turn the tables and return every land that these traitors have desecrated to the nation's fold.
03:28This is the latest escalation in a devastating conflict that continues to tear through Sudan,
03:34with no clear end in sight.
03:36And, of course, this is a major lockdown in theس٠ocent is much better of the military,
