00:00It's not her lesson, it's my lesson that I taught myself, but being at the bottom isn't
00:04always a negative thing.
00:07Hi, I'm Nia Su, and I'm answering questions from the Confession Cube with page six.
00:13Let's do it.
00:14Why am I low-key nervous?
00:17Your book, Bottom of the Pyramid, a Memoir, is about reclaiming your story.
00:22What did you learn about yourself through the writing process?
00:24Ooh, this is good.
00:26I think I learned that I'm a lot more sensitive than I am.
00:31Like, I have a lot of emotions, I have a lot of feelings, and I don't show them enough.
00:36That's what I learned.
00:37It's okay to show all of my feelings.
00:42What is the biggest lesson you think you took away from Abby's pyramids in general?
00:47The biggest lesson I took away is that being at—well, it's not her lesson, it's my lesson
00:52that I taught myself, but being at the bottom isn't always a negative thing.
00:56If you start at the bottom, that means the only way you can go is up.
01:00If you could join the cast of any current reality TV series, what would it be?
01:06That's a great question.
01:09Dancing with the Stars.
01:11Dancing with the Stars.
01:12That is literally my dream in life.
01:14Literally my dream in—I grew up watching that show.
01:17So yeah, Dancing with the Stars.
01:18Okay.
01:20In the announcement for your book, you said it was for people who have felt overlooked,
01:24undervalued, or not good enough.
01:26What advice would you give someone who feels this way?
01:29Ooh, I would give them so much advice, but I think the biggest thing would be for people to
01:37remember that they do matter and they do belong, no matter what anyone says.
01:42Um, you always matter, and no one gets to make you feel bad about yourself, you know?
01:49You—you are the star in your own life.
01:53What do you think is the most surprising thing people will learn about you from your book?
01:58Hmm.
02:00For someone who has been kind of, like, overlooked or has been told that, like,
02:05they're not good enough, like, on the daily, I feel like I'm a pretty confident person,
02:10which I think says a lot about me, baby.
02:13Dance has been such a big part of your life, but it came with ups and downs.
02:17What is your relationship like with dancing now?
02:20Dancing right now is a positive in my life.
02:25I have learned to love dance again.
02:28Um, I danced throughout college, um, and even now, every now and then I will dance.
02:34It's definitely, like, part of me that I don't think I'll ever really be able to give up.
02:41Let's see.
02:43Which of your Dance Moms teammates do you keep in touch with the most?
02:46Oh, for sure, Chloe.
02:48I'm seeing her tomorrow.
02:51For sure.
02:52If you had to pick one song to choreograph a dance about your life to, what would it be?
02:57Oh, I can't pick a specific song, but, like, I feel like a Beyoncé song would just, like,
03:05really resonate with me.
03:07We all know you love your mom, Dr. Holly.
03:09What is the quality, oh, what is the quality you admire most about her?
03:13Oh, she treats people with so much respect, and I love that about her.
03:18She genuinely is just, like, at her core a good person and just loves to help people.
03:25And I see a lot of that in myself as well.
03:29Like, I get that from her.
03:30Okay.
03:31If you could swap lives with another creator for a day, who would it be?
03:35And what would you do?
03:38Probably...
03:40I'm not gonna...
03:42Okay, wait, I'm sorry.
03:43It's so funny.
03:44This is really random, but probably the guy who...
03:51I'm sorry.
03:52He goes, he does, like, this dance.
03:56I would just...
03:57If you know, you know.
03:57I'm not gonna go into further detail.
03:59But if you know, you know.
04:01I just feel like it'd be funny to troll people.
04:03If you like Hello Kitty, this is for you.
04:10You said you always wanted to write a book.
04:11What inspired you to share your story now?
04:13Oh, I honestly think I got to a certain point
04:18where I felt confident in just sharing my journey,
04:23where I just wasn't afraid of what people would think anymore.
04:26I wasn't scared of people.
04:27I saw people were really wondering about my story
04:30and how Dance Moms affected my life.
04:34And it made me think, maybe this is the right time to share my story.
04:38Ooh, this is a big one.
04:39Okay.
04:40Build a pyramid yourself.
04:42How would you rank these trends?
04:44Pumpkin spice season, butter yellow as a color,
04:48golden retriever boyfriends, telling your mom everything,
04:52the summer I turned pretty, skipping Thanksgiving,
04:55and going right to the Christmas decorations.
04:57Okay, okay.
04:59Bottom would be Thanksgiving, like skipping Thanksgiving,
05:02and going right to Christmas.
05:03Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.
05:05It's not my favorite, one of my favorite holidays.
05:08Next, at the bottom of the pyramid,
05:10I would probably say telling your mom everything.
05:12Um, I tell my mom everything,
05:15but like you don't need to tell your mom everything.
05:18Okay. I'm going to put the summer I turned pretty.
05:20That would be next because I love it.
05:23I watch it.
05:24Good show.
05:25But maybe, maybe we can watch some other shows too.
05:28I'm going to do golden retriever boyfriends next.
05:30Like, great.
05:31Love that for us.
05:33Um, yeah, I'm going to leave it at that.
05:37Next, I would say butter, yeah, butter yellow as a color.
05:45Love the color yellow, but my favorite color always will be pink.
05:49And then last but not least, pumpkin spice season.
05:54I love a pumpkin spice season anything.
05:57I love, I love a seasonal trend.
06:00You know what I mean?
06:01I just love to bake.
06:04Oh, probably because of the bake.
06:05I feel like the baked treats around pumpkin spice season are just beautiful.
06:10So good.
06:10Yeah, that, that would be my ranking.
06:14What is the biggest misconception about you?
06:16That I'm a bad dancer.
06:18Please.
06:21It's true.
06:22It's true.
06:24Dang.
06:24After announcing your upcoming memoir, did any of your fellow Dance Moms alum reach out to you?
06:30If so, what'd they say?
06:32Um, yeah.
06:33Chloe has been so supportive throughout my whole journey and throughout this book.
06:38Chloe honestly really encouraged me to share my story.
06:42I always knew I was going to do it, but I feel like her encouraging me to finally tell my story
06:48because she was surprised that I hadn't even really talked much about my time on Dance Moms.
06:54I think it really helped me feel like it was the right time.
06:57And also like the Highland sisters, they're so sweet.
07:00They also reached out to me and were so kind.
07:03So yeah, there's been some people who have been so, so sweet and supporting me.
07:08So I appreciate them all the way.
07:10Let's see.
07:12There has been recent-
07:13Oh, this is so funny.
07:15There has been recent speculation that you are in talks to join the cast of Bravo's next-gen LA.
07:21Are the rumors true?
07:22What is your relationship to people wanting to see you on the show?
07:25I don't know where this rumor started, if I'm being so honest.
07:30People started posting about this and I was very confused.
07:34One, I didn't really understand what it was at first because I know this might be surprising.
07:39I don't really watch reality like that.
07:41I don't.
07:42I don't.
07:43But when I started seeing people post, I was like, what?
07:49You never know though.
07:50I sometimes do random things.
07:53Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently while on Dance Moms?
07:59That's a very deep question.
08:01I feel like, yeah, there are things I would do differently.
08:04But also, we're people.
08:07We make mistakes and I like to live a life of no regrets.
08:11You know what I mean?
08:12I feel like it's really important to just kind of like own the past, own things that happened,
08:18owned past mistakes, past whatever, and grow from it, you know?
08:22So I would say there probably are things I absolutely should have done differently,
08:29but I choose to just move on.
08:34Oh, we only have a few more left.
08:36You grew up in the entertainment industry.
08:39Along your journey, who has given you the best career advice and what is it?
08:45There's been a few people who have given me really good advice.
08:49Mikey Minden, he directed like my first couple of music videos when I first started doing music.
08:55And one of the things he told me, he was like, never sign anything.
09:00Don't sign anything.
09:02And I have learned that the hard way a few times.
09:05And then the other thing would be my mentors, Chloe and Maude Arnold.
09:10I actually talk about this in the book.
09:11When I was really down about dance, thinking about, you know, like,
09:14what am I really going to dance for the rest of my life?
09:17Should I quit?
09:17Whatever.
09:18They helped me get through that time.
09:20And a piece of advice they told me was that whenever you meet someone who used to dance,
09:25they always tell you that they regret not sticking with it.
09:28And that's all I needed to hear to keep to keep pursuing my love, my passion for dance.
09:34You have said you felt like your story wasn't told the way it should have been told through Dance Moms.
09:40Were there parts of your story that were hard to relive while writing the book?
09:44Absolutely.
09:44There were some things I'm like, oh, I don't really like.
09:48There were parts that were hard to relive and parts that were hard to kind of write through,
09:54especially like, you know, digging up the past.
09:57But it's not really digging up the past.
09:58It's kind of resolving it and and having closure to move on.
10:04Okay.
10:06What is your go to coffee order?
10:08Oh, this is a good one.
10:11And it's very basic, but it's my favorite.
10:14An iced vanilla latte with oat milk.
10:16But I do love a chai.
10:19And I'm sorry, you're going to get three answers now.
10:22I'm also a tea drinker, too.
10:23It wasn't about tea, but I also drink tea every single day.
10:27So there you go.
10:29You know more than you wanted to know.
10:31Okay.
10:31This is the last one, guys.
10:33You are the premiere for Freakier Friday.
10:35What would be the first thing you would do if you switch spots with your mom?
10:39I would genuinely like I would genuinely like sign her up for public speaking.
10:48She's great.
10:49She has great advice and she's a great public speaker.
10:51So I'm like, I would genuinely be like, I'm signing you up for this, this, this, this, this.
10:55I'd have a whole I'm basically her PR.
10:58But I'm herself.
10:59Anyway, I'd sign myself up for everything.
11:02And then once she switched back to her body, I'd make her do it.
11:05Because people need to hear her knowledge.
11:09That was the confession cube with page six.
11:11Make sure to grab your copy of my new book, Bottom of the Pyramid,
