00:00Matthew Stafford talking about his new understudy in L.A.
00:05Yeah, no doubt.
00:05I think my job, first and foremost, is to get myself and our team ready to play as best I
00:09possibly can.
00:10He's a part of that team, there's no question about it.
00:12We're in a unique position in the fact that we play the same position.
00:14I have a ton of experience, and he's just now starting his journey as an NFL player.
00:18So, listen, I know he's going to watch not only me, but other guys, you know.
00:23And Stetson, he's been around a little bit, too, and really just soak up as much coaching as he possibly
00:26can.
00:27And he's a guy that asks questions. I've been trying to answer those as honestly and as thoroughly as I
00:31possibly can.
00:32He's a smart kid. He's got talent, obviously. He's, you know, a high draft pick.
00:36So, I'm happy to add good players to our team. He's one of them.
00:40But my job is, you know, go out there and get myself and our team as ready to play as
00:46I possibly can.
00:48Listen, I'm obsessed with that and not surprised.
00:50Matthew Stafford putting on a clinic on how to handle drafting the next franchise quarterback for the L.A. Rams.
00:57And, listen, I'm obsessed. And that right there, that's how you put out a fire before you even start it,
01:03right?
01:04Also, let's be clear here, right? It's like buying your wife if you know you're in trouble.
01:09You know, a shiny, expensive piece of jewelry.
01:12They made sure in L.A. to give Matthew Stafford a brand new contract to make sure there were no
01:17hard feelings, right?
01:19And Stafford wants to win. And I'm sure he wanted Makai Lemon, obviously.
01:25But it didn't happen. That, that's in the past.
01:28Now it's about what are the Rams going to do moving forward?
01:31And I think this is everything here for Los Angeles.
01:34Because the L.A. Rams had an unbelievable offseason.
01:37So, if you're Stafford, if you're a Rams fan, you could be confused, you could be upset about Ty Simpson.
01:44Why is he here? Could have had a weapon.
01:47That conversation will be real during the regular season if, in fact, they need a big play at the wide
01:53receiver position.
01:54And, obviously, if Lemon's making plays in Philadelphia.
01:57Like, it's not dead and buried yet in any way, shape, or form.
02:00But how do you ultimately silence that conversation?
02:03You win. You win big.
02:06And when you take a breath, Rams are the best team.
02:10And they're the literal favorites in Vegas to go out and win the Super Bowl.
02:15To me, barring anything unforeseen, they'll be my pick.
02:20I mean, right now, I'm looking at the Rams and the Cowboys as the top two teams in the NFC.
02:27So, Stafford is, you know, 38, turning 39 the week before the Super Bowl in Los Angeles.
02:32No reason to think he's slowing down.
02:34Puga Naku is back.
02:36Devontae Adams.
02:37Offensive line is strong.
02:38Two-headed monster, running back.
02:40Defense is vastly improved.
02:42See a problem, fix a problem.
02:44The DBs, you know, couldn't stop Jackson Smith-Ajigua.
02:46Bam! Less need.
02:48And Trent McDuffie, among others, in the defensive backfield.
02:51So, I think that Stafford, his first public comments since the selection of Simpson, phenomenal.
02:58And not a surprise.
02:59He's the MVP, he's the epitome of class,
03:01and he knows how to make sure that everyone is focused on the singular goal
03:06of going out and winning another Super Bowl in L.A.
