00:00Let's get started with the NBA. Some big news coming out yesterday. It seems like they're taking the latest gambling allegations and investigation from the FBI quite seriously. The NBA sent a memo to all 30 teams in the National Basketball Association reassessing their measures on legal sports betting and how it should be regulated, what bets should be allowed.
00:18The league also wrote in a memo that it's reviewing policies regarding injury reporting, training and education on NBA personnel. And there's a possibility that it sounds like Adam Silver, who you see right there, the commissioner of the NBA, may get involved in potentially limiting some bets as far as prop bets are concerned.
00:36So we'll see what the NBA holds in the future. And actually, that was a bombshell dropped on us last week. How about this one, though? Soccer referees, always the focus around the world, not just here in the United States.
00:49How about this report from Front Office Sports? 371 of Turkey's 571 active professional referees were found to have betting accounts. In fact, 152 were actively gambling. These are referees in the sport. Of the 152 referees, seven of them were officials at the top level.
01:09So how is this happening around the world? I guess referees are exempt from some of the punishment from sports betting here in the United States. I'm sure they're going to have to get a handle on that as well.
01:21OK, now let's get to one of the best games in the history of the fall classic. The World Series went 18 innings yesterday. It was the latest I've stayed up in a really, really long time. Full transparency did fall asleep, did wake back up.
01:35And I'm like, I'm highly invested in this. I may as well watch the whole thing. Six to five, the final yesterday as the Dodgers end up beating the Toronto Blue Jays.
01:45A lot of heroes in this one, especially on the side of the Dodgers. A reliever named Will Klein came in the game and pitched four and two thirds through 70 pitches.
01:56He had never thrown more than 30 in a Major League Baseball game.
02:00As far as Shohei Ohtani was concerned, folks, Ohtani got on base yesterday nine times in a single game.
02:10Let me repeat that. He was on base nine times in the game last night, which is the most in the history of Major League Baseball.
02:18Ties the record, which was set back in 1922.
02:21And actually, the big shot was in the 18th inning, as you see there with Freddie Freeman hitting a home run.
02:26Freeman was asked afterwards if he was just flat out exhausted from the game yesterday.
02:30I mean, to be honest, I wasn't actually that tired.
02:33When you have your your bullpen doing what they're doing, it just keeps firing you up over and over and over again.
02:41If you're tired in a World Series game, that's kind of I don't think anybody's tired after that.
02:46But it's just when you're going through all that zero after zero.
02:50I was just trying to get on base against a tough lefty sinker baller with a hard curveball.
02:55I was just trying to get on, but got to a 3-2 count and was able to put a good swing on it.
02:59My swings were getting better as the game was going on.
03:02I thought I had a couple of hits in, I don't know, 21 innings ago.
03:08I just felt my swing was getting better and better.
03:10And thankfully, I was able to get one over.
03:11But I don't think we're physically tired.
03:14I think you're just mentally tired because you're in it every pitch.
03:17And every pitch means something in the World Series and in the playoffs.
03:20So I think we're all emotionally and mentally drained.
03:25John Schneider, by the way, manager of the Blue Jays, did his best to keep the team in the game.
03:29They kept bringing in bullpen arms, including Eric Lauer, unsung hero for them,
03:34who pitched several innings but didn't get the win.
03:36Here is Schneider after the game, proud of his guys despite the loss.
03:39It was a lot, man.
03:42I love the way we played.
03:44I love the way we fought.
03:47I think every single player had the right intentions on both sides tonight.
03:50You know, there's a lot of things you look at.
03:54You know, we had chances to score.
03:55They had chances to score.
04:00Yeah, a lot to digest.
04:01You know what I mean?
04:02But I think turning points, obviously, a walk-off homer.
04:07But, man, I give my guys so much credit for playing the way they did.
04:10And Eric Lauer pitching the way he pitched.
04:13That's pretty unbelievable.
04:14I know Kline did the same thing for them.
04:16But a lot to unpack in that game.
04:19But I couldn't be – I couldn't feel, you know, as good as I do right now about the way they went about it.
04:26Yeah, great game yesterday.
04:27Shohei Otani, by the way, who I mentioned, got on base nine times.
04:30Guess what?
04:30He's the starter tonight for the Dodgers.
04:32We'll break that game down later.
04:34If you missed any of Monday Night Football like me, you didn't miss a thing.
04:37The Kansas City Chiefs just dominated the Washington Commanders.
04:40Washington, without their quarterback, Jayden Daniels, just a shell of a team.
04:4328-7.
04:44Mahomes with a good game.
04:45Travis Kelsey threw a touchdown pass.
04:48Don't need to spend much more time on this.
04:49They won.
04:50They covered the spread easily.
04:51Here is the basic outlook for the Chiefs.
04:53Right now, they're right back in the playoff hunt.
04:56Top three seed in the AFC.
04:57Patrick Mahomes said they're playing their best football.
05:00Yeah, when we got in the locker room, we talked about executing.
05:02You know, sometimes you want to press and make stuff happen, especially on a big game like
05:06Monday Night Football, and we weren't doing that.
05:08They had more energy than we did, their defense versus our offense, and so we had to match
05:12their energy and execute at a higher level, and we were able to do that in that second
05:16half and start off that first drive, and then we kind of continue that momentum through
05:20the rest of the second half.
05:21I saw and felt that from the minute we stepped on the field, and that's honestly what we're
05:26looking for, but, man, did we leave a lot of opportunities out there tonight, and you
05:31cannot leave that many chances out there and expect to win, especially against this team.
05:37Not capitalizing on the turnovers, not winning our fourth downs.
05:40They did.
05:42It was great to see us get in some of the takeaways.
05:44You know, that's been an emphasis of what we've been hitting on, but, you know, leaving
05:49here, you cannot leave that many opportunities out there and walk away from this place with
05:53a win, and, you know, like the intensity of the first half, I just thought the opportunities
05:57for us to make our mark, and we didn't nail those.
06:01So, you're not going to walk away from here with a win and miss those ops.
06:05After a wild sequence of injury reporting events last week, the Ravens are saying that
06:12Lamar Jackson will return to action this Thursday night in South Florida to take on the Miami
06:18Dolphins.
06:19Jackson hasn't played in over a month, but John Harbaugh has press conference seemingly
06:24alluding to him starting on Thursday night.
06:26Yeah, we talked about that last night a little bit, but no, when it became apparent that
06:33he wasn't, when I knew he wasn't going to play for sure, we just declared him out.
06:36You know, that's what we did.
06:38We were hopeful.
06:41Maybe there was a chance.
06:42I probably would say it was probably an outside chance, you know, but I was still, had my
06:47fingers crossed.
06:48And then it was, you know, came down from that side.
06:52And I say that side, I mean the player and the medical side.
06:55That's how it works.
06:56And so he was out.
06:59John, have you been in touch with the league, and do you anticipate any punishment from the
07:04league regarding this change?
07:05Yeah, no, I haven't been.
07:08I don't talk to the league about that.
07:09And I think the league, I think we put a statement on about that and how it works.
07:12And that's really, that's all I know.
07:16We'll see in the future with that.
07:18All right.
07:18Patrick Sertan is going to be out multiple games with a pec strain, tough injury for the
07:23Denver Broncos.
07:24The Falcons reeling after getting blown out at home by the Dolphins.
07:27Raheem Morris yesterday telling the media no staff changes, including their offensive coordinator,
07:31Zach Robinson.
07:32Cam Scadabo had surgery on his dislocated ankle.
07:36He said all went well.
07:37He's expected to miss the remainder of the season.
07:40Speaking of missing time, let's get to the NBA.
07:42Bad news for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
07:44Anthony Edwards out two weeks with a hamstring strain.
07:48So no Anthony Edwards for Minnesota.
07:51Victor Wemba-Yama last night, 121-103.
07:55Wemba 24-15, and they're 4-0 on the season.
07:59Nikola Jokic with a triple-double again, as the Denver Nuggets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves
08:04by a final of 127-114.
08:08And the Celtics finally get their first win of the season.
08:11They did it against the Pelicans, and they get the victory, 122-90.
