00:00Today we're making a cocktail called the Naked and Famous.
00:02This year, Food & Wine looked back at the past 25 years,
00:04the biggest trends in restaurants, drinks, cocktails,
00:07wine, and more, and this drink is certainly one of them.
00:09Yeah, so this was created by Joaquin Simo.
00:11It was a mix between a Last Word and a Paper Plane,
00:15another famous modern classic.
00:16One of the reasons this drink is so important
00:18is it popularized mezcal as a cocktail ingredient.
00:21It was actually kind of difficult to get mezcal
00:24at a lot of bars in America.
00:25The original version, if cost isn't an issue,
00:27was made with Del Maguey Chichicapa,
00:30which is a fantastic, fantastic, very bold mezcal expression.
00:34This is a four-part cocktail with four unique ingredients,
00:36so you want a mezcal that can really stand on its own.
00:38Tell us what's in it.
00:39So these ingredients are mixed in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
00:423 1⁄4 ounce mezcal, 3 1⁄4 ounce yellow chartreuse,
00:453 1⁄4 ounce Aperol, and 3 1⁄4 ounce fresh lime juice.
00:48Sorry. The flair.
00:50You're going to want to shake it vigorously, make it chilled,
00:52then double string through a fine mesh strainer
00:55into a chilled cocktail glass.
00:57Drink, it's no garnish. It's perfect as it is.
00:59And there is a modern classic, The Naked and Famous.
01:01You mixed it. I drink it.
01:03This is actually so delicious.
01:04It's really good.
01:05It's just citrusy and sweet, and then you get the smoke.
01:08Yep. Wow.
01:09So you see where that big power from mezcal kind of comes in?
