00:06Pete Davidson recently reflected on a heartbreaking conversation he had with his mother, Amy Davidson.
00:12Earlier this week, the Saturday Night Live star appeared on Theo Vaughn's This Past Weekend podcast
00:17and recounted how his mom gave him a major wake-up call while he was in treatment.
00:22She's been the most supportive ever, and it got to a point where she called me when I was in rehab and she was like,
00:27my biggest fear is that I will turn on the news and see that my son has died, the comedian recalled.
00:33The Staten Island native explained that his mother's words made him want to turn his life around,
00:38as she had never been so direct with him before.
00:40That killed me, so I was like, all right, can't die until she's dead at least, he admitted.
00:46Recently sober, he acknowledged self-sabotaging relationships.
00:50I'd have to be a heartless effing sociopath.
00:53Anybody that's ever actually loved me or cared about me has gotten the worst wrath from me, he admitted.
01:01Though rare, when it happened, it was intense.
01:04As friends called his bluff, he realized he didn't want them to leave.
01:08Regardless of the tough times, Davidson said he's grateful for his life now.
