00:00Pete Davidson is opening up about his sobriety and how he got to this point where he's decided
00:07that this is the path for him. You know, of course, that he went to rehab, but what he's
00:12now revealing is a phone call that he got from his mother while in rehab that made all the
00:17difference. This is what he had to say when he's on Theo Vaughn's podcast. It got to a point where
00:21she called me when I was in rehab and she was like, my biggest fear is that I will turn on the
00:27news and see that my son has died. And she's never been like that. Like, you know, because
00:34she's so supportive and just, you know, wants to always have positivity around. Yeah. And
00:40she already lost something she loved. Exactly. And that killed me. Oh, yeah. So like I was
00:45like, all right, you know, can't die until she's dead, at least. Yeah. All right, Amy. Yeah.
00:50You got it. Like when that lady when that lady says that to you, look at that lady. I mean,
00:54how are you going to be like, I don't have to be a heartless sociopath to not get my
00:59together, you know? It's always moms, man. But it's so interesting. I mean, I know a lot
01:05of people in my life that have gone to rehab and sometimes it just, what we've covered,
01:10how many people that go and they come back and they go and they come back. You need that
01:15connection. But first of all, you need the connection just to go. But even when you do,
01:20if you're not ready to really do the work and it takes something like that, it takes sometimes
01:26hitting bottom or getting back reminded of something. I mean, and you got to make the
01:31reference to his father dying in 9-11. That's a big deal. And not wanting to put his mom through
01:36another tragedy like that. Yet he made it funny by saying it still made it funny. Can't die until
01:40that lady's gone. Until she's dead. I mean, that was, um, he, he does really seem like though,
01:44he's, he's now okay. Right? I mean, Elsie, he's having a, he's having a baby. Sobriety
01:49is a constant battle, but you have either these rock bottom moments where you're at your, your,
01:53your end or you have a wake up call. And it sounds like his mother saying that to him really shook
01:58him. And it looks like he's going to come out the other side, at least for now. It's a daily
02:01struggle. And even he would say, I would think that, yeah, he might fall off the wagon at some
02:06point, but that doesn't mean that you failed. You just start again. He seems mature to me. A lot of people fall
02:13off the wagon. So they, they kind of expect that. I mean, what's interesting is, you know,
02:17and, and again, I wish the best for Pete Davidson, but you know, you watch Matthew Perry when he was
02:23doing interviews after his book and you thought, wow, he's come out the other side and he didn't.
02:27And then, you know, I was thinking of it because I watched the Charlie Sheen doc last week and he
02:32looks great. And frankly, I met with Charlie two years ago and he seemed great. So he's been really good,
02:40but it is a daily thing. Hey, I'm Christiana. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. And I think that Pete is
02:47really, really relatable. He may not even really be your cup of tea, but one thing he's done an
02:52excellent job throughout his entire career is just making sure that he's real and he's telling his
02:57truth. I really, really wish him the best with the rest of his sobriety time. As do we, as do we.
03:04Yeah, absolutely.
