00:07In 2021, Matthew McConaughey announced he ultimately decided not to run for governor of Texas after giving it serious thought,

00:15but the actor isn't opposed to one day rejoining the world of politics.

00:19The Oscar winner was asked about the possibility when he appeared on the Wednesday, September 24th episode of The Megyn Kelly Show,

00:26as the host told him he had a good grasp on societal issues.

00:30I don't know. The father of three confessed to her inquiry.

00:34Could be. Look, I for the last six years been studying different categories of where I could be most useful.

00:39What leadership roles am I equipped for?

00:41The Dallas Buyers Club star acknowledged politics is inherently not his language, as he's more of a philosopher.

00:48I am aware that the issues matter, that politics and legislation all matters.

00:52So I have not canceled it out, but I've given it and still continue to give it some real consideration to measure myself.

00:58He shared, that's the right place where I can be the most useful.

01:02However, the Texas native noted, I'm not going to bend my back to force myself in it.

01:07I will get in deep enough where if I'm in it, I'll look up and I won't be able to help it.

01:12I'll just be there. I will be pulled in.

01:14Matthew McConaughey said it could be tough for him since he's not willing to budge on things he believes in.

01:20I think it's something important if we all ask, what if I were the leader of a state, of a nation, of a world?

01:26It's a great question to ask ourselves.

01:28Could you call yourself on some of your nonsense and go, what decision would I make?

01:32What are my own beliefs?

01:33And where do they transfer to what I would believe for the masses?

01:36He pondered.

01:37Now, we all know in politics, they're not all doing what they believe, but they're doing.

01:43And I would not want to go be in anything where I would need to betray myself.

01:47And there's a lot of betrayal that comes with, inherently, in politics.

01:51Right now, I have three kids with Camila Alves wanting them to grow healthy.

01:57Once they're more independent, I will be open to considering what my next avenues are.
