00:00I'm going to continue to work and invest the bounty I have by supporting entrepreneurs,
00:05businesses and foundations that I believe are leaders, establishments that I believe
00:10are creating pathways for people to succeed in life.
00:22Listen over the past two years, I've been working on the answer to the question of how
00:26I can be most useful in this life going forward.
00:29Useful to myself, useful to my family and to the most amount of people.
00:33One category of service I've been exploring is politics.
00:36I've been considering a run for governor of Texas.
00:39I've been listening, I've been learning, been measuring and studying Texas politics and
00:44American politics.
00:45What have I learned?
00:47A lot.
00:49That we have some problems we need to fix.
00:53That our politics needs new purpose.
00:57That we have divides that need healing.
01:00That we need more trust in our lives.
01:03That we got to start shining a light on our shared values, the ones that cross party lines,
01:08the ones that build bridges instead of burn them.
01:11That our children are our greatest asset, so hey, let's be as good of parents as we
01:17can be.
01:18I've learned that freedom comes with responsibility and that great leaders serve.
01:25Whether a politician, a CEO, star quarterback, a mother, father, husband, wife, brother,
01:30friend, mentor or teacher, we lead by serving each other.
01:35We lead through our service.
01:37What is service?
01:38Service is taking on responsibility today so we can have more freedom tomorrow.
01:44Service is making the better choice for you and for me.
01:48Service is the investment we make in ourselves.
01:52So can we recognize that when we serve others, we actually serve ourselves and vice versa?
01:59Do we have the courage to help out more than we hurt?
02:03Can we expect to get what we earn more than what we think we deserve?
02:09Can we give ourselves more reasons to trust each other first instead of last?
02:15That's the leadership that we need.
02:16That's the investment in our states, in our country that we need.
02:20That's the investment we need.
02:23As a simple kid born in the little town of Uvalde, Texas, it never occurred to me that
02:27I would one day be considered for political leadership.
02:30It's a humbling and inspiring path to ponder.
02:34It is also a path that I'm choosing not to take at this moment.
02:37What am I going to do?
02:40I'm going to continue to work and invest the bounty I have by supporting entrepreneurs,
02:45businesses, and foundations that I believe are leaders.
02:49Establishments that I believe are creating pathways for people to succeed in life.
02:54Organizations that have a mission to serve and build trust while also generating prosperity.
03:00That's the American dream.
03:02Politicians?
03:03The good ones can help us get to where we need to go, but let's be clear, they can't
03:08do anything for us unless we choose to do for ourselves.
03:13So to the leaders and the servants out there, and the leader and servant in each one of
03:16us, cheers to you.
03:19Here's to the freedom to be you, the freedom to be me, and to our responsibility to be
03:26us.
03:27In the meantime, and at all times, and until next time, just keep living.
