When the LNP was elected to office it vowed to tackle youth crime, health, housing and cost of living. State political reporter Jack Mckay spoke with stakeholders and industry leaders to get their take on the big issues affecting Queenslanders.

00:00Let's kick off with your hip pocket.
00:05The government has made 50 cent public transport fares permanent, but the one-off $1,000 energy
00:12bill rebate for all households has ended.
00:15Instead, the LNP says it's delivering targeted relief, like a $386 rebate for vulnerable
00:22households which it will index.
00:25A $100 voucher for all primary school students also starts next year.
00:30There are commendable initiatives that the government had committed to prior to the election
00:35and has delivered on 50 cent fares, solar for renters.
00:39We think more needs to be done.
00:41Let's look at housing.
00:42The waiting list for social housing has grown over the past year.
00:47For first home buyers, the government has scrapped stamp duty on new builds and launched a new
00:52shared equity scheme.
00:54Plus, there's $2 billion to pay for the roads, plumbing and power needed for new housing
00:59developments.
01:00Housing is a really clear priority and we've got initiatives such as the Residential Activation
01:05Fund, the review of the regional plans, fast-tracking the priority development areas which are really
01:11critical to unlocking new homes.
01:13Turning to health, the government is promising to roll out 2,600 new hospital beds, but we
01:19don't yet know by when.
01:21The planned surgery wait list has gone down from August last year to August this year, but
01:26ambulance ramping has increased.
01:29In August, 45.6 per cent of patients at the top 26 facilities were ramped longer than 30 minutes,
01:36up from almost 44 per cent the year before and well short of the LNP's goal of 30 per cent by the end of the term.
01:44This is a really challenging area. Obviously, there's an optimistic goal there to reduce
01:49the numbers and this is the reason why investment is so important.
01:53Also this past year, the government has introduced its adult crime, adult time laws for youth
02:00offenders, pushed ahead with new plans for the 2032 Games and launched a commission of
02:05inquiry into the CFMEU. On mining, the government insists it's providing certainty for investors,
02:12but is refusing to repeal the coal royalty scheme introduced by Labor.
02:16The government always remains open to collaborating with our industry, which we appreciate, and
02:23it's our job to make sure that they understand what are the impacts of the coal royalties,
02:28particularly on operations in the regions, on people's jobs and livelihood.
02:32The government's rolled out a new energy plan. It means coal will be used for longer until
02:37at least 2046. The LNP remains committed to net zero emissions by 2050, but is dumping the
02:45state's renewable energy targets as it promised to do at the election.
02:50They're going to keep coal open longer and we don't even have the clarity of when these
02:54coal-fired power stations will close.
