00:00Let's kick off with your hip pocket.
00:05The government has made 50 cent public transport fares permanent, but the one-off $1,000 energy
00:12bill rebate for all households has ended.
00:15Instead, the LNP says it's delivering targeted relief, like a $386 rebate for vulnerable
00:22households which it will index.
00:25A $100 voucher for all primary school students also starts next year.
00:30There are commendable initiatives that the government had committed to prior to the election
00:35and has delivered on 50 cent fares, solar for renters.
00:39We think more needs to be done.
00:41Let's look at housing.
00:42The waiting list for social housing has grown over the past year.
00:47For first home buyers, the government has scrapped stamp duty on new builds and launched a new
00:52shared equity scheme.
00:54Plus, there's $2 billion to pay for the roads, plumbing and power needed for new housing
00:59developments.
01:00Housing is a really clear priority and we've got initiatives such as the Residential Activation
01:05Fund, the review of the regional plans, fast-tracking the priority development areas which are really
01:11critical to unlocking new homes.
01:13Turning to health, the government is promising to roll out 2,600 new hospital beds, but we
01:19don't yet know by when.
01:21The planned surgery wait list has gone down from August last year to August this year, but
01:26ambulance ramping has increased.
01:29In August, 45.6 per cent of patients at the top 26 facilities were ramped longer than 30 minutes,
01:36up from almost 44 per cent the year before and well short of the LNP's goal of 30 per cent by the end of the term.
01:44This is a really challenging area. Obviously, there's an optimistic goal there to reduce
01:49the numbers and this is the reason why investment is so important.
01:53Also this past year, the government has introduced its adult crime, adult time laws for youth
02:00offenders, pushed ahead with new plans for the 2032 Games and launched a commission of
02:05inquiry into the CFMEU. On mining, the government insists it's providing certainty for investors,
02:12but is refusing to repeal the coal royalty scheme introduced by Labor.
02:16The government always remains open to collaborating with our industry, which we appreciate, and
02:23it's our job to make sure that they understand what are the impacts of the coal royalties,
02:28particularly on operations in the regions, on people's jobs and livelihood.
02:32The government's rolled out a new energy plan. It means coal will be used for longer until
02:37at least 2046. The LNP remains committed to net zero emissions by 2050, but is dumping the
02:45state's renewable energy targets as it promised to do at the election.
02:50They're going to keep coal open longer and we don't even have the clarity of when these
02:54coal-fired power stations will close.
