00:00Rushing changes through Parliament after 8 o'clock at night to ban pill testing in
00:09Queensland the Deputy Premier is unapologetic. Remember these are illicit
00:14illegal drugs there is no safe way to take illicit illegal drugs drugs kill
00:20people. The evidence shows and the experts tell us that this law will cost
00:26lives. A taxpayer funded report of drug checking in Queensland found about 1,500
00:32samples were presented for testing between March last year and April this
00:37year. 57% contained just the expected substance an unexpected psychoactive was
00:43detected 12% of the time. The knowledge of what's in these substances not only
00:48informs the person who's thinking about using it themselves but the wider
00:53community but also health professionals. In a follow-up survey involving 47
00:58participants 44% reported not using the substance 29% spaced out their dose and
01:0412% said they dispose of at least one substance. The evidence that we've
01:09gathered both directly from the services and independently through our own
01:13research team aligns really strongly with the international evidence and that
01:18shows that that drug checking services are effective. We know that drug checking
01:23changes behavior we know that it makes helps people make safer decisions. The
01:27best message we can give anyone is not to take the drugs in the first place. The
01:30opposition has hit out at the government over how it pushed these
01:34changes through Parliament. It was passed what within about an hour of it being
01:40introduced. We said before the election that we did not support pill testing in
01:45Queensland. The only morons that support pill testing in Queensland is the
01:49Queensland Labor Party, Stephen Miles and Mark Bailey. Anything else?
